Soumen Chakraborty is an Indian Bengali film and theatre actor known for his dynamic performances across stage and screen. He made his film debut in Hubba (2023), a crime thriller directed by Bratya Basu. Soumen began his journey with theatre in 2017. He got the role of Panchanan Karmakar in the play Aksharik(2023), written and directed by Debasish Ray, which was a massive hit in all over the country,it marked his first notable huge success on stage.
Over the years, he has been Lead part of several acclaimed theatre productions including Hulusthul (2024), Bhalobasa (2022), November (2023), and Hariye Paoa (2021). In addition to his stage work, he appeared in supporting roles in films such as Ektu Sore Bosun (2023) by Kamaleswar Mukherjee .
His performance in the short film Jaanla (2023) received positive feedback within his creative circle. In 2021, Soumen expanded his repertoire by narrating audio stories for Radio Mirchi's app, Mirchi Plus, contributing over 70 hours of voice work.
His recognition grew significantly following his appearance in Goppo Mirer Thek (2023). He later featured in popular web series on Hoichoi, including Byomkesh: Durgra Rahasya (2023) directed by Srijit Mukherji, and Kaalratri (2024) by Ayan Chakrabarty. Then he got an opportunity in Srijit Mukherji's Killbill Society (2025) . His Upcoming projects include pivotal roles in Soumik Sen's web series Jazz City and Subhajit Sinha's Sweet Dreams.
Born in the village of Sandhipur in Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal, Soumen completed his schooling at Netajinagar Sripati Siksha Sadan in Midnapore. In 2017, He moved to Kolkata, where he earned a Graduate degree in Theatre from Rabindra Bharati University before beginning his professional acting career on stage.
