- Friend and teammate Mike Hawthorn announced his retirement after becoming the United Kingdom's first Formula One World Champion (1958), so profoundly affected he was by Collins's death. In a sad irony, Hawthorn died in a road accident 3 months later.
- Ex-Formula One racing driver, who raced for: HWM (1952 (4 GPs)-1953 (4 GPs)), Vanwall (1954 (2 GPs)), BRM (1955 (1 GP)), Maserati (1955 (1 GP)) and Ferrari (1956 (7 GPs)-1957 (6 GPs)-1958 (7 GPs)). He started 32 Grands Prix, 3 Wins, 9 Podiums and 47 Points. Best ranked in the World Championship: 3rd in 1956.
