Boston Basketball Partners LLC, owner of the reigning NBA Champion Boston Celtics, has inked a deal to sell the team for $6.1 billion to an investor group led by William Chisholm, a lifelong Celtics fan and Boston-area native, pending a green light from the league’s Board of Governors.
If approved, this appears to be a record deal for a North American sports franchise, topping the Snyder family’s $6.05 billion sale of the NFL’s Washington Commanders to a group led by Josh Harris in 2023.
Current owners led by the Grousbeck family bought the Celtics in 2002 for $360 million. The family indicated last summer that the team was for sale shortly after it set an NBA record with its 18th championship. The Celtics are among the favorites to win the title again this June.

The nuclear family is dead. Long live the modern family. NBC's freshman comedy Extended Family gives audiences a humorous look at a new kind of family, one that may not look like the so-called "ideal" family, but features love and laughter all the same. Jon Cryer (Two and a Half Men) stars alongside Abigail Spencer (Suits), and Donald Faison (Scrubs) in this adaptation of the true story behind the family of co-executive producers George Geyer, Emilia Fazzalari, and Boston Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck.
When Jim (Cryer) and Julia (Spencer) divorced, they said it was the best thing that ever happened to them. Choosing a new way to co-parent, the pair kept their children in the family home where they took turns living and raising their kids. All seems to be going smoothly, until Julia gets engaged to Trey (Faison), who just happens to be the owner of Jim's favorite sports team,...

Since the first televised American sitcom, Mary Kay and Johnny, premiered in 1947, the family sitcom has been a television staple. NBC's latest entry into the genre attempts a different approach and focuses on an unconventional modern family. NBC's family sitcom Extended Family, created by Mike O'Malley, follows a premise that may sound absurd even for television. The show follows the story of Jim (Jon Cryer) and Julia (Abigail Spencer), who end up with an amicable divorce, as reported by Celtics Blog. But things get twisted when Julia starts dating Trey (Donald Faison), the owner of the NBA Boston Celtics. Interestingly, Jim is a hardcore Celtics fan — a fact that sets up the ground for the interesting dynamics of the show, which is directly inspired by the lives and experiences of co-executive producers of the show, George Geyer, Emilia Fazzalari, and Boston Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck.

Jon Cryer returns to his sitcom roots in NBC's Extended Family, playing a hapless divorced dad trying to maintain a relationship with his kids after a new, cooler male role model enters their lives. Extended Family draws parallels to Cryer's previous show, Two and a Half Men, with its premise of divorced exes sharing a house and a new romantic partner causing tension. The show borrows elements from other sitcoms, including direct confessionals to the camera and cutaways, but ultimately plays it safe with a traditional sitcom format and a laugh track.

NBC, the only broadcast network to have original, homegrown scripted series on the fall schedule with The Irrational and Found, will also launch most of its strike-impacted scripted slate the fastest.
The network has announced its midseason premiere dates, which include mid-January returns for Wolf Entertainment’s three One Chicago and three Law & Order dramas on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.
That is a month before dramas on the other major broadcast networks are set to return with new episodes and a couple of weeks before any scripted series elsewhere come back. It is a testament to the well oiled machine that Wolf Entertainment is. As Deadline has reported, the company is capable to start delivering new episodes after as little as two months if starting from scratch with no banked scripts.

Updated: The network upfronts are once again front-and-center for the television industry as major players gather in New York May 15-17 for the springtime ritual of presenting programming plans for the upcoming TV season.
Upfronts are always a hectic time, but this year it’s even more so because of the writers strike that began May 2. Writers and many actors are sitting out the upfront presentations in solidarity with the Writers Guild of America. The promise of WGA pickets surrounding all major events spurred Netflix to make a hasty decision to switch to a virtual presentation rather than an in-person event at the company’s Paris Theater.
As content chiefs outline their plans for the 2022-2023 television season, here is a running list of new drama and comedy series orders handed out by ABC, Disney, CBS, Warner Bros. Discovery, NBC, Fox, the CW and other major players in the upfront.

Prince William and Kate Middleton didn't get the warmest welcome during their night out in Boston yesterday. The Prince and Princess of Wales sat courtside at a Celtics vs. Miami Heat game on Nov. 30 and found themselves on the jumbotron at some point, but the crowd wasn't exactly thrilled about their presence.
According to multiple videos posted on Twitter from various areas in the Td Garden Arena where the game took place, while there was cheering for the royals, the two also earned audible boos and chants of "USA, USA" when they appeared on the big screen.
Boston Globe reported that William and Kate were scheduled to leave the basketball game early but "were apparently having too much fun to call it a night." "They were going on 22 hours being up," said Celtics co-owner Wyc Grousbeck, "and they didn't want it to stop." The outlet also noted that the pair's...
