Biography

Born in Huntington, West Virginia, US, Justin Tyler McElroy is an American podcaster, comedian, and former video game journalist, best known for his work on My Brother, My Brother and Me (2010) and The Adventure Zone (2014). He was born in 1980 as the first child of radio host Clint McElroy and his wife Leslie, his younger brothers are Travis McElroy and Griffin McElroy. He studied at Marshall University and in 2005 got a reporter job for Ironton Tribune, covering local stories. He moved to game journalism in 2007, working for Joystiq until 2012 and then co-founding Polygon with his brother Griffin and Christopher Grant. In 2010 the McElroy brothers started their highly popular comedy advice podcast My Brother, My Brother, and Me. In 2013 he and his wife Sydnee McElroy started a medical history podcast Sawbones: A Marital Tour of Misguided Medicine (2013) and a year later the McElroys and their father started a Dungeons and Dragons actual play podcast The Adventure Zone (2014). With his podcasting career taking more and more of his time, he quit Polygon in 2018 to focus on it and on his family, although he appears as a voice actor in various projects from time to time. He and Sidnee live in Huntington. They have two children, Charlie Gail McElroy and Cooper Renee McElroy.
