Gian Luca Della Monica, born in Rome in 1981, was fascinated with movies since he was a little kid. Growing up he also fell in love with directing, a passion he cultivated throughout the years. In 2010 he created and directed 'Revolution', a web series selected for the Pitch Trailer section of the Trailers Film Fest. The following year, during the first edition of the Roma Web Fest, the web series won Audience Award, Best Production, Best Scenography and Costumes and a special award called Roma Location. In 2013 Revolution participated in the final selection for the Melbourne Web Fest in the category Best Foreign Series and got selected by Conde Nast for the web project CN Live. In 2014 Gian Luca took part in the project 'Dirsi addio', a movie composed of several short films. He directed Giobbe Covatta and Barbara De Rossi in an episode adapted from a short story by the Strega Award finalist Paolo Di Paolo. He also directed Cosimo Cinieri and Matilda Lutz in the prologue and epilogue of the same movie. In the same year he directed the music video 'L'Anamour', a cover of a famous song by Serge Gainsbourg. The song, sung by the Italian singer Nathalie, is part of the soundtrack of the movie 'Dirsi addio'. The music video won the Special Award 'Il cinema incontra la musica' (Movies Meet Music) during the 12th edition of the Roma Videoclip Festival. In 2015 Gian Luca took part in a writing class offered by the Writers University, affiliated to the famous magazine Writer Digest. Afterwards he worked on several projects including a video-biography of Frank Sinatra for the Italia-USA Foundation, which debuted at the Italian House of Representatives on the centennial of Sinatra's birth. In 2016 he co-wrote the screenplay 'Male dentro', inspired by the kidnapping of Annamaria Fusco in the '80s, together with the journalist and author Vito Bruschini. In the same year he directed the short films 'Carmen' and 'L'ultimo pescatore' (Tide Over). The latter was among the finalists at the Dublin International Film Festival. In 2017 he directed the visual poem 'Burnout' for the campaign Love Shouldn't Hurt. The video came out on the 8th of March of the same year for the International Women's Day. In 2017 he also directed the music video for the song 'Dove tutto è a metà' by the Italian band Tiromancino, produced by Sony in collaboration with Mondadori to launch Federico Zampaglione's -the lead singer of the band- book. Soon after that a series of wildfires devastated the pine woods of Castel Fusano in Rome. Inspired by the event, Gian Luca wrote, produced and directed the short film 'Cenere' (Ash), winner of the Mamma Roma Award (Mother Rome Award) at the international film festival Isola del Cinema. In 2018 he directed several commercials including a promo for the resort Faloria in Cortina D'Ampezzo and a commercial for Pin Up Stars' 2019 swimwear collection. In 2019 he wrote, produced and directed the short film 'Tieniti Tutto', distributed by Pathos in 2023. Between 2020 and 2022 he worked along with producer Francesco Stoia, who's also a bassist for Tiromancino, and directed a series of music videos including 'L'odore del mare' by Tiromancino and 'Rosa Intenso' by Le Vibrazioni. In 2023 Gianluca wrote a movie called 'C'era una volta a Ostia', currently in pre-production.
