Musica Aeterna

The chamber orchestra Musica Aeterna was born in 1973 on the initiative of Professor Jan Albrecht.
Musica Aeterna regularly performs in Slovakia and collaborates with the Center for Baroque Music in Versailles. The ensemble participates actively in numerous international festivals:
Flanders Festival in the Netherlands, Festival of Early Music Utrecht, Carinthian Summer Villach, Governed Zenei Napok Sopron, Ceské mezinárodní slavnosti staré hudby Praha, Bach-Tage Berlin, Bachfest Lipsko, Dni starej hudby Bratislava, Barockfest Münster, Swedish Baroque Festival Malmö, Bratislava Music Festival (BHS), Zagreb and Varazdín Festival.
Musica Aeterna working with Christophe Coin, Paul Colléaux, Peter Harvey, Martin Gester, Paul Goodwin, John Holloway, Jan Kleinbussink, Catherine Mackintosh, Charles Medlam, Siegfried Pank, Andrew Parrott, Christophe Rousset, Olivier Schneebeli, Simon Standage, Melvyn Tan, John Tool.
Since 1989 the ensemble is devoted to baroque music and plays on instruments dating from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The music of Central Europe, especially the former Slovak music of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, is the basis of their repertoire. The orchestra conducted by artistic director Peter Zajícek, was part of the Slovak Philharmonic until 2005.
The orchestra recorded over 15 CDs and has received numerous awards: Diapason d'Or in 1994, 1995 and 2002, Concerti Grossi Georga Muffata, Price Cannes Classical Awards - Midem in 2003 for the participation on the registration of Sub Olea pacis ... by JD Zelenka. The Council of Bishops Slovak awarded in 2006 at the Musica Aeterna an honorary distinction for their active role in the radiation of the Slovak Christian culture.
