2024 is coming to a close, and with it comes another great year for manga. Whether it was a manga that had been running since 2023 and beyond or ones that just premiered, there were plenty of great manga to read, and no matter what someone was into, there was always something for someone to get invested in.
Plenty of great manga ran throughout 2024, and naturally, some manga stood out more than others. Whether it was because of great artwork, stellar storytelling, or some combination of the two, the best manga of 2024 were the ones that had the best presentation either narratively or artistically, and that’s true of both ongoing manga and manga that only just started in 2024. A few manga, in particular, are especially worth highlighting, as each one will be a great read for old and new fans alike in 2025 and beyond.

Anime might be the best medium for overpowered abilites. Series like Naruto and Jujutsu Kaisen often do an excellent job of portraying just how destructive an ability can be, showcasing leveled towns, demolished buildings, and droves of people who didn't make it. Due to their inherent behavior to cause significant collateral damage, most of the characters capable of the most destructive abilites in anime aren't fighting for the good guys.
If a good guy is capable of a destructive ability, they usually need to prepare before they can let loose. They can get their move ready by using a bunch of magical spells, using an incantation, or in Benimaru's and Endeavor's case, they can send their enemy high into the sky for a massive explosion. No matter if it's a hero or a villain using a destructive ability, it always makes for a good viewing experience and a jaw-dropping moment.

Isekai is a genre of anime known for its exciting worlds, interesting characters, and incredible magical abilities. Some isekai shows don't take much seriously and let stories unfold simply. Other shows will have fans thinking about the series well after the final episode. Isekai shows have a rare opportunity to take an otherwise normal character and place them into a brand-new environment. The isekai'd character can often act as a stand-in for the watcher, making viewers wonder what they would do if they were in the protagonist's shoes.
Isekai with rich stories leave an impression on anyone who watches them. The best isekais of all time make viewers want more after they're done, and leave people with thoughtful, pertinent questions about the series itself and the ending they were left with.

The modern anime industry is gigantic. Because of this, it's often hard for new shows to stand out from the pack. However, Episode 4 of KamiKatsu: Working for God in a Godless World featured a strange scene that quickly went viral. This scene shows that more anime studios should embrace strange visuals and unique animation styles to make their anime stand out.
KamiKatsu: Working for God in a Godless World is a series based on the manga written by Aoi Akashiro and illustrated by Sonsho Hangetsuban. The series, animated by Studio Palette, debuted in early April and quickly gained a decent-sized fan base, and many viewers have since praised the show's intentionally over-the-top nature.
