The film tells the story of a village woman named as Devi, her battle against fate and society, certain incidents in her life turned her daily job to burn the corpses, but according to the Hindu traditions in Kerala, no women is allowed to burn corpses but she is an exception, The story tells how she took up that job and how she is fighting back to raise her only child. Even though people in Kerala worship goddesses, In real life woman are treated badly and has been restricted from may practices. As the the film title is going with the worshipping of Hindu goddess 'chudala badrakali' ( She is one of the fierce forms of the Great Goddess Devi ), the title footages has been shot originally at the worshipping ritual of Goddess Bhadrakali happened in Iyvormadom (crematorium) in Palakkad district Kerala, in the ritual even no woman are allowed to play the role of bhadrakali even though ritual is about worshipping of a female goddess. They are played only by male artists disguised in a goddess attire.
