Popularly known as Paddy or Padma, N. Padmakumar quit advertising as the Country Creative Head of Rediffusion Dentsu, Young & Rubicam, one of India's largest ad agencies, in 2012, after a 17 year career in which he led large creative teams in international ad agencies like Lintas and McCann Erickson, creating many high profile ad campaigns for large brands and winning a large number of awards along the way.

His first feature, A Billion Colour Story, which he wrote, shot and directed himself, earned a nomination at the Busan International Film Festival in the New Currents selection, an official selection at the BFI London International Film Festival, earned a Best of Fest nomination at Palm Springs and went on to win as many as 17 awards and citations, before making its way to Netflix, where it's available to watch.

He has, since, created Thinkistan, a popular Indian show on MX Player that continues to earn positive reviews all over, and a second feature, Distant Teardrop, based in Sri Lanka and England, which is due for release in 2020.

He has an M.Sc. in Statistics and Computer Programming, is an enthusiastic sportsman, an accomplished photographer and a poet.
