Jonathan Samukange professionally known as Director O, is a Hollywood trained filmmaker based in Africa. After 3 years of intensive hands on training, he completed his BFA in Filmmaking at the New York Film Academy in 2019. Director O has returned to the heart of Africa to share his talent and new wisdom, with the goal to advance African storytelling. He has had a lot of success early in his career, winning numerous awards for his films Human Encounter, PostGrad, Be Open and Honest in 2019.
During his career as a student, Director O ventured outside the classroom to gain real world experience working on over 30 productions. Including working as a visual effects supervisor for Allied Artists International and on his first feature film A World Away, which went on to win best film feature at the Chicago Independent Film Festival 2019. After his father gave him his first computer at the age of 8, Director O has been hooked on cinema ever since.
Now 31 and married with 3 beautiful children, Director O's dream is to bring African storytelling to the same standard as Hollywood.
