Fans were thrilled at the sixth episode of The Last of Us season 1, because a fan-favorite character seemed to make her first appearance in the show. A mysterious girl bore a strong resemblance to Dina, Ellie's girlfriend in the video game The Last of Us Part II.
The girl can be seen during the scene where Ellie and Joel are in the mess hall eating with Joel's brother Tommy and his wife Maria. Ellie is stuffing her face with food when she spots a girl looking at her from a distance. Ellie yells at her and the girl runs away. Could that teenager, played by Paolina Van Kleef, have really been Dina? Isabela Merced, who is playing Dina in the new season, isn't sure.
"I did see [the theory]" Merced told Entertainment Weekly. "And her outfit looks very similar to Dina's. I haven't actually had the opportunity to ask Craig [Mazin, the showrunner]." All in all,...

This article contains spoilers through episode 6 of The Last of Us.
Episode 6 of The Last of Us, “Kin,” introduces us to the community of Jackson, Wyoming and the almost normal lives that people are able to live in this post-apocalyptic world. In the video games that this HBO series is based on, we don’t get to see what Jackson looks like or how it works until The Last of Us Part II. When Joel reunites with Tommy in The Last of Us Part I, the community is still trying to get the hydroelectric dam to work, and therefore Tommy, Maria, and a few others are living there to focus on repairs.
This slight deviation from the games allows the creators to not only inject some hope into the show by showing us tangible proof that there are still safe places in this world, it also allows them to introduce...

Editor's Note: The following contains spoilers for Episode 6 of The Last of Us and major spoilers for The Last of Us Part II.This week's episode of The Last of Us, "Kin" was an emotional banger through and through, but it may have also introduced an important character for the future of the show: Staring Girl, played by Paolina Van Kleef. Doesn't ring a bell? What if we told you she, who we see very briefly staring at Ellie (Bella Ramsey) as she and Joel (Pedro Pascal) eat upon arriving in Jackson, could be none other than Ellie's girlfriend in The Last of Us Part II, Dina? Of course, by now showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann have already started dodging the issue, but we can dream, right?...

This post contains spoilers for HBO's "The Last of Us" and the video game series of the same name.
The latest episode of "The Last Of Us" is the most emotional thus far. Finally, Joel (Pedro Padcal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) have done the difficult work of tearing down their walls and addressing the emotionally wrought elephant in the room: their journey together is so much bigger than carting cargo across the country for Fireflies. They genuinely care about each other, and there's no point pretending they don't. In "Kin," they finally confront that connection and consider the future; Ellie wonders if her blood will successfully produce a cure; after suffering panic attacks, Joel fears he won't be able to protect her; Ellie worries that she'll once again be abandoned by a person she trusts; and Joel is haunted by the ghost of his daughter. It's the kind of episode that asks big,...
