'A Really Fun Storyline': The Rookie Will Bring Back 1 Fan Favorite Guest Star in Season 8
Image
The Rookieshowrunner Alexi Hawley promises the return of a fan-favorite character in Season 8.

Speaking to TVLine, Hawley would not answer the question of how many episodes the upcoming eighth season of The Rookie would be. However, Hawley did note that the series would likely be as long as if not longer than Season 7, which came in at 18 episodes total. Flula Borg's "Skip Tracer Randy comes back to us, I think it’s [Episode] 17, in a really fun storyline," Hawley said, tacitly admitting that Season 8 will run at least close to the same number of episodes as Season 7.

Created by Hawley, The Rookie premiered on ABC in 2018 to rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. For the past seven years, the series has followed Nathan Fillion's John Nolan, a member of the LAPD who joined the force relatively late in life after being swept up in a bank robbery as a civilian.

Reddit Community Lashes Out When Watcher Entertainment Launches Paywall: Is This the Start of a Revolution?
Steven Lim
When the team at Watcher Entertainment announced that they would be leaving YouTube in order to post content exclusively on their own subscription-only page, they clearly thought that fans would be excited about the move.

They were very, very wrong.

The backlash against the digital media studio -- which was founded in 2020 by a trio of former Buzzfeed employees -- was swift and immediate.

Usually, an uproar from a company's customer base is the sort of thing that's met with a boilerplate apology and little else.

But in this case, the outcry on Reddit and on the group's previous YouTube posts wound up having a significant impact.

Earlier this week, Watcher's three founders -- Steven Lim, Ryan Bergara, and Shane Madej -- made a video in which they reacted to the strong backlash against their unexpected business decision.

“We messed up,” CEO Lim said in the clip.

“We’ve been...

MoistCr1tikal, Wendigoon, and Jackson Clarke’s new podcast hits #1 in true crime
Image
MoistCr1tikal, Wendigoon, and Jackson Clarke have joined forces for a cryptid, conpiracy, and cult-themed podcast that swiftly rose to the #2 spot on U.S. podcast charts, beaten out only by longtime most-listened-to show The Joe Rogan Experience.

Each episode of Red Thread will “investigate the peculiar space just beyond reality,” according to the show’s official description.

Red Thread‘s debut ep followed an urban legend: the Goatman, already popularized on YouTube and in memes by skeptic-in-chief Shane Madej during an episode of and Ryan Bergara‘s hit series BuzzFeed Unsolved. Its second chronicles the bizarre final months of Charles Morgan, who lived a seemingly normal life until he vanished March 22, 1977, and reappeared three days later suffering from intense paranoia.

Both episodes are uploaded in video form on YouTube, with the first bringing in nearly 900,000 views, and the second bringing in just under 400,000.

According to the CEO of Mana Talent Group,...

'Ghost Files' Shane Madej and Ryan Bergara Are the Best Ghost Hunters in the Biz
Image
Ghost hunting media is nothing new. Shakespeare had a tendency to include specters in his work (most famously in Hamlet), accounts of supernatural encounters have been reported in print media stretching back to the 18th century, spiritualism saw a rise in the 19th and 20th centuries, and shows like Unsolved Mysteries and Ghost Hunters have become staples of television on certain cable channels. In a 2019 poll sampling the American population, nearly half of respondents aged 18 and up said they believed in ghosts. While an interesting figure, it still leaves a slight majority of the population who do not. That's a lot of people who have been widely ignored by supernatural entertainment, at least until a few years ago. In 2016, Ryan Bergara and friend Shane Madej joined as the creative team behind Buzzfeed Unsolved: a supernatural and true crime anthology series that quickly became a coveted show for millions of viewers.

'Ghost Files' Returning to the Winchester Mystery House For Special Episode

Ryan Bergara and Shane Madej are two of the most popular ghost hunters around. Ant-Man 3's Ryan Bergara Cameo Continues a Franchise Tradition
Image
As is typical for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is chock full of Easter eggs. That includes nods to figures outside the comics and events and individuals from past Marvel stories. Even real-world celebrities have found themselves rubbing shoulders with fictional superheroes more than once within the franchise.

Quantumania includes a quick one from BuzzFeed Unsolved host Ryan Bergara. It wouldn't merit mention apart from the McU's other real-world cameos, save that the Ant-Man series of movies appear to have an affinity for celebrities who rose to prominence on social media rather than older forms of discourse like television or movies. Bergara's brief nod is part of a small but notable Ant-Man tradition.

Ryan Bergara and Shane Madej Talk “Ghost Files” and Their Favorite Horror Movies [Interview]

Garnering a ravenous following on social media due to their uniquely tongue-in-cheek and straightforward approach to ghost hunting, Buzzfeed Unsolved quickly elevated itself above being a simple web series.
