Greg Hughes(XIV)

Greg was born Gregory Hughes in Birmingham UK and attended Moat Farm infant and junior school and Langley High senior school in Oldbury. Greg left school at aged 16 and worked several jobs before turning 18 and training as a croupier at The Rainbow Casino in Birmingham city centre. During this time Greg also commenced his acting career attending Theatre and Dramatic Art studies at The Custard Factory in Digbeth and performing stage productions with Raw Talent Theatre Company as well as appearing regularly in small roles in UK television series Dalziel & Pascoe and Casualty.
During his time working smaller tv roles and theatre, Greg continued working as a croupier in casinos and card rooms in land based casinos and cruise ships. He was able to pay for his acting training following being given a very generous tip from notorious poker player of the time - David 'Devilfish' Ulliott after dealing a 48 hour long poker game in which 'Devilfish' won a huge amount.
Greg subsequently continued training in Soho, London at Translantic Film School 'Acting for Camera' and Instinctual Acting where he met his mentor and close friend New Yorker, Michael Duvall. In theatre productions Greg mainly portrayed comedy roles which were well received by audiences leading to working as a compere and other comedy based performances on stage and screen. Winning several comedy awards during this time.
His first film roles saw Greg cast in much darker, sinister roles such as the seedy Theo in 'The Chain' , psychopath Samuel in 'Samuel' and sadistic Colby in Shakespeare classic 'King Lear' . As well as further comedic film roles like Bob in 'Sham Love' and Patrick in 'My Eyes See No Difference'.
Greg has most recently been working in France and Italy on 8 part mini series The Count of Monte Cristo directed by Bille August and featuring Academy Award Winner Jeremy Irons.
