Biography

    • Aleksandr Gorbatov is a Russian theater and film actor.

      His father - Vladimir Gorbatov, was a military man. Due to the father's profession, the family often changed their place of residence. They also lived in Cherepovets and Gorkiy. His parents separated when Aleksandr was twelve years old. His father took him to Gorkiy (now Nizhniy Novgorod), and his mother remained in Zaporozhye. At school, he studied in a class with in-depth study of the English language. He was interested in history and was reading historical literature. Later he returned to his mother in Zaporozhye. In childhood and adolescence, he practiced boxing for 9 years. He also took vocal lessons and played the guitar. After school, he studied at a vocational school and received the profession of a gas-electric welder.

      In 2015 he graduated from Theatre Institute named after Boris Shchukin, course of Nina Dvorzhetskaya and R. Tuminas. Since 2015 - actor of the First Studio of the Vakhtangov Theater. Since 2018, he has been collaborating with the Vakhtangov Theater as a guest actor.

      Since 2013, he has been acting in films, making his debut in the film Vsyo snachala (2014) directed by Darya Poltoratskaya. Then he played notable roles in the projects Tikhiy Don (2015) (Stepan Astakhov), Murka (2017) (Eduard Bagritskiy), Molodaya gvardiya (2015) (Vasko), Anna Karenina (2017) (Prince Yashvin). In 2018, was released the military drama Staying Alive (2018), in which he played Sergeant Major Pyotr Strelchenko. Gorbatov played the main role - Pyotr Gromov - in the new film adaptation of the famous novel by Vyacheslav Shishkov 'Ugryum-reka (2021)'. In 2022, he played the great Russian opera singer Feodor Chaliapin Sr. in the biographical drama Shalyapin (2023) directed by Egor Anashkin. In 2023, Gorbatov played the main role - Aleksandr Nechaev - in the spy film GDR (2024).
