The 24-year-old actress is playing the titular role in the upcoming Legally Blonde prequel series from Prime Video. She recently discussed how Reese, who was the Og Elle Woods, was a positive influence on her when she was figuring out how to play the character.

“There is not a better character that I could be playing that’s healthy for my psyche to be in. An optimist who believes in herself,” she told People.

Lexi said that Reese, who is also a producer on the show, encouraged her to add her “own little sprinkles of magic” to Elle Woods.

“Elle,” which stars Lexi Minetree as Elle Woods, will debut next summer on Prime Video, Minetree announced during Amazon’s annual upfront presentation on Monday.

Reese Witherspoon, who executive produces “Elle,” also popped in virtually to Amazon’s upfronts to share a production update on the new series, which Witherspoon said is officially two episodes into its production.

Chloe Wepper, David Burtka, Brad Harder, Kayla Maisonet, and Lisa Yamada have all joined the upcoming prequel.

As previously announced, the show will follow Elle Woods during her high school years. Lexi Minetree stars as Elle. Additional cast members include: June Diane Raphael, Tom Everett Scott, Gabrielle Policano, Jacob Moskovitz, Chandler Kinney, Zac Looker, Jessica Belkin, Logan Shroyer, and Amy Pietz.

You can tell they’ve gone back in time as the teen uses her clear phone to speak to her friends on a landline, as many did in the 90s. And in true Elle Woods fashion, she’s wearing a pink hoodie and surrounded by her pink bedding.

From creator Laura Kittrell, the series follows the titular high school student as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman in the first Legally Blonde film.

Reese Witherspoon has shared a first look at Lexi Minetree as Elle Woods in “Elle,” Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming “Legally Blonde” prequel series.

The series recently began filming, Witherspoon announced on Instagram. “Harvard was hard. High School was harder. Our new series, Elle, is now in production!” she wrote.

Per the official logline, the series “follows Elle Woods in high school as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first ‘Legally Blonde’ film.”

Minetree was announced as starring in February, marking her first lead role after smaller appearances in “Law & Order: Svu,” “The Murdaugh Murders,” “Crowdsource Murder” and “The Paramedic Who Stalked Me.”

The cast also includes Tom Everett Scott as Elle’s father and June Diane Raphael as her mother.

The Legally Blonde franchise announced it would adapt a prequel series, Elle, on Amazon Prime Video. Prime ordered the series in May 2024 and began searching for a young and upcoming actress to play the teenage Elle Woods. After many months, they landed on their choice in February 2025, with the casting of Elle's parents following in March. Ten months into the process, the Legally Blonde prequel TV series has completed the Woods family trio.

There isn't much known about Elle Woods' parents, but there are brief scenes of them in the movies. We can assume they played crucial roles in Elle's teen years. Because their parts are essential, fans will expect great acting from the prequel's actors.

Scott will feature in Elle opposite Lexi Minetree (Elle Woods) in the role of Elle’s dad, Wyatt, while Elle’s mom, Eva, is played by June Diane Raphael. James Read played Wyatt in the Robert Luketic-directed comedy, an out-of-touch father who, alongside his wife, tried to convince Elle not to set her sights on Harvard.
