Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist Announce Alfredo 2, Share “1995”: Stream
Image
Hope you’re ready for seconds, Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist have announced Alfredo 2, the follow-up to their 2020 cult classic, Alfredo. To whet the appetite, the duo are sharing the new song “1995” along with a short yakuza noir, Alfredo: The Movie.

The new album is set to drop July 25th via Rabbit Vision, Alc Records, and Virgin Music. Pre-orders are ongoing. This’ll be the third major collaboration for Gibbs and Alc, including 2018’s Fetti with Curren$y. “1995” is a spiritual sequel to “1985” from Alfredo, boasting the same easy chemistry that makes the Mc and producer such natural partners. Alchemist’s spaced-out beat is swimming in vibes, starting with twinkling introspection and building to a guitar-fueled frenzy. He keeps the percussion levels low, the better to hear how Gibbs’ whip-crack flows slice and dice from different angles.

What Made ‘Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood’s Humor So Controversial?
Image
Mistake Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood for perfection in a sentence, and nobody would bat an eye. Unless the discussion had anything to do with humor. Hiromu Arakawa’s Fullmetal Alchemist is massively popular and ranks among the best anime-manga series of all time. Even such high acclaim and popularity can’t protect the series from the backlash it gets for its humor.

Initially jarring and repetitive, the comedy scenes of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood are painful to sit through. They pop up during the most tense situations and have become the most controversial aspect of the anime. However, the comedy in the show improves a lot with the plot progression, highlighting and fulfilling its true purpose.

Anime humor is already quite controversial as it is.

‘Moonrise’ Had More Than Just Netflix to Blame for It to Become a Sleeper Anime
Image
Released this month, Moonrise, an adventure sci-fi anime, has been one of those hidden gems, sparking mixed reactions among fans. There is no denying that the animation is beautiful; the action scenes are like fireworks or something that pull you in. With such dazzling animation featuring some compelling characters, this anime has the potential to be the next big thing.

But here’s the issue- for all of that, it feels and looks kind of buried. What’s stopping Moonrise from eliciting more hype? Yeah, part of the popularity issue to consider is that Netflix didn’t promote Moonrise very well. But there’s more to the story than poor promotion.

From some questionable storytelling choices to the sheer amount of anime dropping at the same time, there are some reasons why this hidden gem of an anime isn’t shining as brightly as it should.

One of the greatest video game adaptations of all time, Castlevania, has been the talk of the town since its release in 2017. Finally, D&d 2024 Is Playtesting The Best Class Missing From The New Player's Handbook - But Is It Too Late?
Image
The future of a popular, and probably the best, Dungeons and Dragons class has recently been teased. With the new updates to the rules of the game with the release of the 2024 Player's Handbook, and upcoming editions of other books like the Monsters Manual, with more modern changes to the game are set to arrive soon. It was anticipated that this class would be included in the future of the reworkings to the rulesets, and it appears that players will not have to wait too long for it to arrive officially.

The class, one that is not in the 2024 Player's Handbook for Dungeons and Dragons, but is an additional class that is greatly loved among players. They are a unique class that players can utilize to add an extra layer of magic to their campaigns, with the particular way they use their magic. The class's official introduction to the latest...

Netflix Buys Rights To Viral Epic Fantasy Novel Series For 7 Figures In Massive Deal
Image
Netflix is boarding a new fantasy adaptation. 2024 has been a big year for the streaming platform. They have been staying afloat while other companies in Hollywood struggle in the wake of the 2023 strikes, during which writers and actors fought for fair pay from the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, who took more than 100 days each to resolve the disputes from the Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild. The streamer has made several moves this year, including password crackdowns, live sports, advertisements at certain tiers, and a change in their content strategy.

This change has included devoting their resources to prioritizing original, high-quality projects as opposed to acquiring the licenses to stream pre-existing movie and television shows. This includes several prominent projects within the fantasy genre, chasing success of titles like Stranger Things and Damsel, both of which number among the most-watched titles of all time on the platform.

‘Orang Ikan’ Director Mike Wiluan On Making A WWII Creature Film Set In Southeast Asia
Image
Based on a mythological creature recorded in several Malay and Indonesian accounts, the WWII-set Orang Ikan makes a bold foray into the creature film genre.

The Singapore-Indonesia-Japan-uk co-production is making its rounds on the international festival circuit, receiving its world premiere at the Tokyo International Film Festival in the Gala Selection, before heading to the Trieste Science + Fiction Festival’s Asteroid Competition for its European premiere and then the Singapore International Film Festival in December.

“I’m a big fan of creature art and this idea of the fish man, or orang ikan came about,” said director Mike Wiluan. “This mythological creature existed in Malay mythology but it hasn’t really been explored. However, there were many stories of sightings by fishermen of these humanoid sea creatures, cropping up time and time again for over 100 years.”

The film stars actor-musician Dean Fujioka (Fullmetal Alchemist) and Callum Woodhouse (All Creatures Great...

How The Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Anime Shortchanges The Manga's Best Arc
Image
In the 2000s, Studio Bones twice transmuted Hiromu Arakawa's manga "Fullmetal Alchemist" into anime. The second series, "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood," is more faithful to the source material (it helps when you have the whole story to adapt). That said, it makes changes too. Much more subtle changes than the 2003 "Fullmetal Alchemist" series, but changes nonetheless, from creating new villains to condensing the story. In particular, "Brotherhood" crams volume 15 of the manga — one of its most impactful arcs — into episode 30: "The Ishvalan War of Extermination."

"Fullmetal Alchemist" is set in a steampunk version of 1900s Europe where alchemy is a real science. The main setting is Amestris, an expansive imperial state at war on all sides and ruled by a military dictatorship from within. Alchemists can become State Alchemists ("dogs of the military") to receive grant funding in exchange for answering a call to arms when requested.

The flashback...

Hiromu Arakawa “leaving the job to the specialists” May Have Been the Worst Decision for Fullmetal Alchemist’s Live-Action Movie
Image
Fullmetal Alchemist isn’t an anime fans can get into with light expectations. Hiromu Arakawa’s storytelling produces a swift and dark tale that deals with some heavy themes. The manga and anime are both heavily acknowledged and liked by a fan following that dedicatedly finds opportunities one after another to praise the series. They have a special place in their heart for the series.

With how big of a pedestal fans put Arakawa’s series on, it becomes very important to deal with any following content that comes out with regard to it as well. It is regarded as one of the rare few animes with a perfect ending that has ample representation and mesmerizing characterization. So it was obvious that when the live-action movie came out, everyone was furious.

One Piece Season 2: Blue Beetle Star Reacts to Ace Fancasts
Image
Cobra Kai star Xolo Mariduea has shared his reaction to fans campaigning for his casting as Luffys adoptive brother Portgas D. Ace in Netflixs upcoming One Piece Season 2. In the original anime, Ace was voiced by Toshio Furukawa (Dragon Ball), and by Travis Willingham (Fullmetal Alchemist) in the shows English-dubbed version.

Since the renewal of the live-action One Piece series was announced, fans have started picking out the actors who they think would be perfect to play fan-favorite characters like Nico Robin, Ace, and Crocodile, who are expected to appear in Season 2. After Luffy actor Iaki Godoy appeared in Maridueas The Lone Lobos podcast last year, the Blue Beetle actor instantly became a popular fancast for Fire Fist Ace due to his dynamic chemistry with Godoy. During a recent TikTok Live with Cobra Kai co-star Jacob Bertrand, when asked about his potential involvement in One Piece Season 2, Mariduea revealed that...

Big Hit had been incarcerated since Hit-Boy was three years old, including a 15-year federal sentence which included a five-year period where the two had no contact due to prison restrictions. Baldur's Gate 3 Gets Another Popular D&d Class Thanks To Fan
Image
Artificers in Baldur's Gate 3 now have a mod that adds unique subclasses with special abilities to enhance gameplay. The Artificer class includes Alchemist, Armorer, Artillerist, and Battle Smith options, allowing players to craft gadgets and buffs. The modded class offers players a new way to experience the game, with opportunities for more strategic combat and magical enhancements.

Baldur's Gate 3 may already feature plenty of unique classes for players to enjoy, but one fan went a step further by creating one of Dungeons & Dragons' most beloved archetypes for the game. Larian Studios spent years developing its Forgotten Realms RPG so that anyone could complete its sprawling narrative, no matter their character's class, race, or build. While this kind of commitment to balance is no doubt appreciated by the community, those who wanted a little more technology infused with their magic were sorely disappointed to find that such an option doesn't exist.

How to Unlock Every Class in For The King 2
Image
Around twelve different classes are available to use in For the King 2, but not all of them are unlocked when you first begin your adventures. While you do have a few character types right away, many others are hidden until you complete certain tasks tied to the main story. Different builds for party compositions are at their most creative and fun when you have access to every archetype from the start.

You initially have five character types you may choose from in For the King 2, similar to the four basic character classes seen in Minecraft's D&d Dlc. Likely inspired by classic Ttrpg roots, each starting archetype teaches you the basic mechanics of the game through an easy-to-understand class. As you progress, more complicated warriors, spell casters, and unorthodox origins will start appearing as you meet various objectives.
