Whether it's the world of Mma with the likes of Michael Bisping, Ronda Rousey, or Randy Couture or pro wrestling with “The Rock” Dwayne Johnson, Dave Bautista, and John Cena being among the biggest stars in the industry, the stage is rife for veterans from all aspects of the sport to move into the acting field. That's definitely the case with Joey De Guzman's upcoming Philippine-lensed zombie title “Day Zero,” which serves as kickboxing champion Brandon Vera's chance in the spotlight, to be released shortly on digital and physical media from WellGo USA.

Former Mma fighter Brandon Vera stars in the upcoming zombie action movie Day Zero, and Bloody Disgusting has been provided with a Bloody exclusive clip today.
Directed by Joey De Guzman (The Ghosting), Day Zero is a Filipino action thriller and it’s first releasing on Digital May 23. The film later hits Blu-ray & DVD on July 11.
In the film, “After serving eight incident-free years in prison, a former elite soldier is released, finally free to reunite with his estranged wife and young daughter. However, he re-enters civilization only to discover that the outside world has been completely overtaken by a dangerous virus with terrifying effects on the human body.
“Chased by hordes of the undead, he races through the dangerous urban landscape in a final desperate attempt to redeem himself and rescue his family.”
Vera stars alongside Pepe Herrera, Mj Lastimosa, Joey Marquez, and Ricci Rivero.
