Dark Horse Comics’ “Sister Imperator” #2, now available, is written by Tobias Forge and Corina Bechko and illustrated by Puste:
“…a young ‘Sister Imperator' takes a journey to a traveling circus in eastern Europe, where she meets a wide variety of unusual people — some of whom will go on to change her life forever.
“As she becomes the resident ‘human cannonball’, it seems the Sister may have found her place after all... until tragedy strikes the circus.
“Could her stepfather's reach truly extend across the Atlantic? And if not, who else could be after her?…”

Swedish papal metal act Ghost will return with a new album, Skeletá, this April, with a newly anointed pope as frontman.
Ahead of the April 25 release of Skeletá, Ghost’s first album since 2022’s Impera, the band have shared the video for the demonic first single “Satanized,” which also gives fans their first look at Papa V Perpetua, who recently ascended to the Ghost throne following the reign of Papa Emeritus. Ghost have announced their highly anticipated new album, SKELETÁ, arriving April 25th via Loma Vista Recordings. The video for lead single “Satanized” can be streamed below.
Despite its sinister title, the new song is quite graceful and sees Ghost fully embracing their melodic-aor side. Shades of Styx and Def Leppard are present on the prog-tinged rocker, which is drenched in a blanket reverb effect that’s straight out of the 1980s.

Meanwhile, the accompanying music video introduces Ghost’s “new” frontman and the latest iteration of band mastermind Tobias Forge, Papa V Perpetua, whose arrival was previously teased when Ghost were announced as part of Black Sabbath’s upcoming final concert. Ghost have revealed the name of their “new” frontman, Papa V Perpetua, the latest evolution of the band’s ever-changing singer.
Keen-eyed fans were quick to notice the name when it appeared on the poster for Black Sabbath’s final concert when the news broke on Wednesday morning (February 5th).

Among the special guests performing at the concert is one “Papa V Perpetua” of Ghost. The band then followed up with an official announcement on social media: “We wish to inform you V is coming…”
Little else, such as the physical appearance of the new Papa, has been revealed, though the post did include a simple graphic with the Roman numeral “V.”
Of course, Ghost fans are already speculating about the rest. One Facebook commenter pointed out that the V graphic is purple — potentially a hint at the color scheme for the new Papa’s attire.

Rock ‘n roll and performative Satanism may be a match made in heaven, but conservative attitudes used to mean that musicians had to tread carefully when subverting religious standards in their performances. Thankfully, decades of pushed boundaries have led to mainstream audiences finally becoming a bit more lenient when it comes to musical blasphemy. That’s why no one bats an eye when thousands of fans fill up an arena to see a band that openly mocks religious institutions while casually incorporating demonic chants into their romantic lyrics.
And with so many followers willing to dress up as ghouls and evil nuns as they sing along to ballads about doomed lovers and eldritch rituals, it was only a matter of time before Swedish rock band Ghost would get the chance to celebrate their particular brand of high-spirited satanism with a feature-length concert film.

Concert footage, theoretically bolstered with frontman Tobias Forge’s feeble skits, seems likely to please only the diehard types
The concept of a cultural object as “Marmite” – ie you’ll either love it or hate it – is an overused one but may come into play here. Rite Here Rite Now is essentially a rock concert film, showcasing the Swedish theatrical rock band Ghost, and it’s exactly the sort of on-the-face-of-it loud and wacky business that people like to describe as a Marmite movie – but the truth is that at its core, it’s a pretty tame film, which fits the band’s goofy brand of soft metal.

There might not be a more unlikely success story in music right now than Ghost. After all, the Swedish occult-rock band is led by a demonic pope-like figure named Papa Emeritus and filled out with masked "nameless ghouls" who man all the instruments. They started off in the late 2000s and early 2010s as more of a theatrically inclined doom-metal band, complete with Satanic-themed lyrics, albeit one that offered insanely catchy melodies and singable choruses that elevated their more popular songs into full-blown anthems. Eventually, the heavy-metal vibes were toned down a bit to make room for a more arena-rock sound that has taken Ghost from touring clubs and smaller venus to playing big concert arenas worldwide. Your mom or next-door-neighbor might not know who they are, but if you ask the right teenaged goth girl or middle-aged metalhead, there's a good chance you'll see their eyes light up as...

The 80-second clip features live footage of the band performing the Impera song “Kaisarion,” giving fans a glimpse of the concert portion of the upcoming film (captured during two sold-out shows at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles in 2023).
Ghost don’t reveal much about the plot here, though we do see Papa Emeritus IV dart backstage to observe himself in front of a giant ornate mirror. At this point, Sister Imperator makes an appearance, shooing Papa back onstage to sing the rest of the song. The whole sequence gives off strong “Phantom of the Opera vibes,” as one YouTube commenter aptly put it.
Due to high demand, the cinematic premiere of the film has been expanded across four days in select theaters. Trafalgar Releasing, which previously worked with Metallica,...

Ghost have announced a feature film titled Rite Here Rite Now, which is set for a worldwide theatrical release on June 20th and 22nd.
The Swedish band teased the film earlier this month, but with no details at the time. A new press release describes the movie as a pseudo narrative-concert film that “fully immerses viewers in the technicolor melodrama of the vaunted live ritual” that is Ghost. Directed by Alex Ross Perry (Her Smell) and Ghost mastermind Tobias Forge, it culls footage from the band’s two sold-out shows at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles in 2023 and follows plot threads from Ghost’s long-running Chapters series.
“Over a decade ago when Ghost got signed to Loma Vista, Tom Whalley [owner and CEO] asked what the story of the band was,” revealed Forge in a press release. “He felt telling a story was vital in order to get new fans engaged. I...

Ghost have released a teaser clip for an upcoming cinematic film.
The 30-second trailer was shared to Instagram and sees Papa Emeritus IV onstage, presumably twirling to bid farewell to an audience at the end of a performance. The clip is soundtracked by sweeping strings and has a startling one-frame jump cut to Sister Imperator before displaying the text: “Coming soon to cinemas worldwide.”
Little else has been revealed about the movie, though Ghost mastermind Tobias Forge did tell Metal Hammer that live footage shot during the band’s two September 2023 shows at The Forum in Inglewood, California, would be used in the upcoming film.
These shows were special in that audience members were not allowed to use phones or devices during the concert. Upon entering the venue, phones were stowed and then later returned to concertgoers upon the conclusion of the set.

A Missouri venue has issued an apology for enacting a policy that forced fans to remove face paint at a Ghost concert on Friday (August 11th).
Two days before the show at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in Maryland Heights, Missouri, the venue made a social media post informing fans that “face paint or masks covering the face” were “Not allowed while entering the venue or purchasing items at concessions” and “any face coverings must be removable upon request.”
Apparently, many concertgoers didn’t get catch wind of the policy — which is somewhat bizarre in-and-of itself, considering the widespread use of face coverings in recent years. Also, Ghost frontman Papa Emeritus IV (aka Tobias Forge) dons corpsepaint-like makeup, inspiring hardcore fans to often put on face paint themselves.
The venue’s relatively late announcement about the policy caused chaos and confusion at the gates, as concertgoers were told to remove their face paint and,...

Ghost have hit the road for a summer US tour, bringing fellow Swedes Amon Amarth along for the ride. The “Re-Imperator” officially kicked off with a packed show Wednesday night (August 2nd) at the Concord Pavilion in Concord, California.
Supporting their latest release, The Great Heathen Army, Amon Amarth got the ball rolling with a nine-song setlist that had the metalheads in the already full venue singing along. The band kicked off the set with “Raven’s Flight,” complete with a viking helmet drum riser, and two massive swordsman statues on either side of the stage. “Put Your Back into the Oar” was easily the crowd favorite of the set, as made obvious by the fans rowing along to the song. By the time the band wrapped up their brief set with “Twilight of the Thunder Guard,” the entire venue was primed for the headliners.

The following contains spoilers for Insidious: The Red Door, now playing in theaters.
One of the intriguing aspects of Insidious: The Red Door is Patrick Wilson directing. He's known for being on camera as the franchise's lead protagonist, Josh Lambert. But this is his debut in the director's char, leaving fans excited to see his vision. He's no slouch in the horror genre, after all, especially since he's also a linchpin in The Conjuring movies, too.
For Insidious 5, Wilson does a commendable job on and off camera in a chapter that seems to put Insidious on hiatus. However, while there is a tease in the post-credits the Further may still be active, there's another cool Easter egg regarding Wilson himself in the actual credits. Once more, it shows he's a versatile artist.

Ghost recently released a covers EP called Phantomime, but they evidently have more covers in them. The Swedish metal band has unleashed a cover of Shakespears Sister’s 1992 single “Stay” featuring actor Patrick Wilson.
“Stay” opens with soft synths providing the basis behind echoing vocals. About halfway through the track, things pick up, as heavy guitar riffs crash in and the vocals take on a more powerful character.
So, how did “Stay” come together? As it turns out, actor, director, and Tony-nominated singer Wilson is a major Ghost fan. He saw the band live twice in 2022 and met up with frontman Tobias Forge while working on his directorial debut, Insidious: The Red Door.
Later, inspired by Ghost’s version of “Spillways” featuring Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott, Wilson reached out to Forge, who had been working on a version of Shakespears Sister’s “Stay.” The two then decided to collaborate on the cover,...

Ghost have unveiled their cover of Iron Maiden’s “Phantom of the Opera” from the upcoming Phantomime covers EP, arriving this Thursday (May 18th).
Papa Emeritus IV and his Nameless Ghouls do a faithful job covering their heavy metal forefathers on “Phantom of the Opera.” The original Maiden track hails from the British legends’ 1980 debut, featuring singer Paul Di’Anno. However, Ghost’s version harnesses the power and might of the 1985 Live After Death version featuring Bruce Dickinson.
Impressively, the guitar tracks are nearly transposed in accuracy, and Papa stays true to the song’s vocal arrangement while adding his signature melodic flourishes to the mix. For a band that has long wore its Nwobhm influences on its sleeve, the cover marks a consummatory moment in Ghost’s career. It also harkens back to Iron Maiden’s Book of Souls tour in 2016 and 2017, when they brought Ghost along as support.

Papa Emeritus IV and Swedish heavy metal act Ghost blasphemously celebrated Easter Sunday with a surprise cover of Genesis’ 1992 single “Jesus He Knows Me.”
Fitting for a song that spoofs televangelism, Ghost paired their rendition with an Alex Ross Perry-directed, age-restricted video featuring the duplicitous Father Jim DeFroque who — after delivering his sermon — goes on an all-night party binge complete with multiple drug runs, encounters with sex workers, and other frowned-upon activities.
“We wish to inform you that one person’s beauty is another’s blasphemy…,” Ghost said of the video.
