The Adorable Theory About Luz & King's Relationship That The Owl House Never Actually Confirmed Explained
Image
The Owl House ran for three seasons on Disney Channel, during which time the relationship between human teenager Luz Noceda (Sarah-Nicole Robles) and child-like demon King (Alex Hirsch) was always central. However, how a certain piece of Boiling Isles lore connects to their dynamic is never explicitly clarified in the show. The Owl House follows Luz as she stumbles into a magical otherworld and settles into the Owl House, where she trains as a witch under the tutelage of chaotic witch Eda Clawthorne (Wendie Malick).

When they all meet, Eda already has King, a somewhat mysterious creature who believes he was once the king of all demons, in her care. However, King is objectively still a kid, and he and Luz develop a best friend/sibling relationship, while Eda comes to view them as her surrogate kids. However, while Luz was largely a fully-fledged witch and King was revealed to...

10 Best Episode Of The Owl House, Ranked
Image
The Owl House was a triumph among Disney fans new and old, drawing upon the style of previous hit animated TV shows while offering something new, with many standout episodes. The adventures of human Luz Noceda (Sarah-Nicole Robles), her witch mentor Eda the Owl Lady (Wendie Malick), and demon best friend King (Alex Hirsch) exhibit plenty of hilariously absurd humor, all the while gradually assembling a profound story of self-acceptance and standing up for what's right. Creator Dana Terrace's kooky and smart world-building shows no bounds, while the supporting cast provides the show with strong friendship and romance subplots.

The Owl House was prematurely canceled after season 3, wrapping things up with a shorter final season, which nonetheless did justice to Luz and everyone else's character arcs and the vibrant setting. This is also a TV show that makes the case for filler episodes, and the one-off adventures of The Owl House...

Top 10 The Owl House Characters, Ranked
Image
The Owl House was an animated series that ran from 2020-2023, and while the fantasy world and great story was a draw, the characters are what made it so popular. From the happy-go-lucky lead protagonist Luz Noceda (Sarah Nicole-Robles) to her shifty but loyal mentor Eda Clawthorne (Wendie Malick), these characters fill out the magical world of Demonland, and Hooty, who is The Owl House himself.

The series first premiered on Disney+ and included two full-length seasons and a final third season that consists of three specials. The Owl House characters have been widely praised for their depictions of LGBTQ+ characters, as well as the humor that is appropriate for all ages. The series is one of the few animated shows made for all-age audiences that features queer characters and relationships and includes rare examples of transgender and asexual animated characters. These varied The Owl House characters make an already magical world,...

Celebrating TV’s Chaotic Bisexual Characters
Image
A Chaotic or Disaster Bisexual is defined in a variety of ways. They could give off so much chaotic energy, that without knowing anything else about them you could correctly guess that they’re bi. They can also be defined by their awkwardness when it comes to flirting and expressing their feelings. Despite being attracted to a wide variety of people, the Chaotic Bisexual is a hot mess above all else.

While some may see this term as an insult or an essentialization of an entire sexuality, many embrace this title with open arms. Identifying as a Chaotic Bisexual allows us to embrace the flaws that make us human and not take ourselves so seriously. Bi people have to deal with so many misunderstandings both within and outside of the queer community – we’re not queer enough for some, too queer for others – and this term gives us a chance...

Why The Owl House Was Canceled After Season 3
Image
The Owl House ended with season 3 after Disney surprisingly canceled the show in spite of its critical acclaim, and viewers were left wondering why it wasn't renewed. The animated series premiered on Disney Channel in January 2020. Over the course of its three seasons, The Owl House follows Luz (voiced by Sarah-Nicole Robles) when she ends up in the Demon Realm. While she tries to find her way back home, Luz resides at the Boiling Isles. She trains as a witch under Eda Clawthorne (Wendie Malick), a witch who also goes by the name The Owl Lady.

While Luz trains with Eda at The Owl House, she and her friends work together against the dangerous Belos (Matthew Rhys) and the Collector (Fryda Wolff) to save the Boiling Isles. Found family is a huge theme throughout The Owl House. Multiple lead characters in The Owl House are part of the LGBTQ+ community,...

7 Storylines The Owl House Season 3 Finale Needs To Tie Up
Image
The finale of The Owl House season 3 is set to release on April 8, meaning that the show must end every important storyline if not every storyline, it has been building up to. While this may be particularly challenging given the compressed nature of season 3, it’s still more than possible for the show to have a strong landing for its final episode. Admittedly, this means that The Owl House will likely have to prioritize its most important plot lines, following through on the most imperative threads and those that have been building for several years. Hopefully, the ones chosen will be able to give the series a memorable exit.

Throughout its three seasons, The Owl House tells the story of Luz Noceda (Sarah-Nicole Robles), a human girl who found her way to the Demon Realm and made her home on the Boiling Isles. She fell under the tutelage of Eda...

The Owl House: Luz's Palisman Is Perfect for Her
Image
The Owl House returned on January 21, with the second special episode of Season 3, "For The Future," and, needless to say, there was a lot that happened . Luz (Sarah-Nicole Robles) and her friends returned to the Boiling Isles with Camilla (Elizabeth Grullon), only to discover that the Collector (Fryda Wolff) has been turning its inhabitants into puppets and using them as literal playthings. All while King (Alex Hirsch) has been acting as his best friend and carefully trying to reason with them. But one of the most exciting things that this episode gave its viewers was the long-awaited reveal of Luz's palisman.

The Owl House Season 3 Is Wasting Its Best Characters
Image
While it's lucky that The Owl House can produce a season 3 after its cancellation, the differing format is wasting the show's best characters. This is especially noticeable given that season 3 only has three episodes. Instead of the typical 19-21, to wrap up character and narrative arcs, it took two full seasons to prepare for. As a result, the show had to condense much of its story and characters, which may very well limit The Owl House and its characters from living up to their full potential.

The imbalance between seasons 1 and 2 and the time season 3 has available is particularly strained, considering that the later season has so much ground to cover. The first two seasons introduced Luz Noceda (Sarah-Nicole Robles) to the Demon Realm and The Owl House's eclectic cast. She began her quest to become a witch under the tutelage of Eda the Owl Lady (Wendie Malick) while...

The Best Kids' Animation Of 2022
Image
Animation for children deserves more respect, especially lately. In an industry that values profits over artistic risks, kids' animation remains a dismissible art form, and the intelligence of its audience is often underestimated. In 2022, the industry faced HBO Max's purge of several animated projects, an ongoing battle for fair wages, and the abridgement or outright cancelation of numerous shows and movies. Looking back, it's hard to not wonder what might have been.

These obstacles are especially notable given how much animation aimed at children has evolved over the years. A number of 2022's animated projects were particularly inventive and thought-provoking. It was a year full of glorious stop-motion productions, breathtaking visual innovations, and major milestones when it comes to queer visibility. Just remember: For our purposes, "kids" is an inclusive term that refers to both actual children as well as the kid that exists in every adult. With that in mind,...

The Owl House's Camila Noceda Flips A Big Fantasy Show Problem
Image
Warning! This article contains Spoilers for season 3, episode 1 of The Owl House

The Disney Channel’s The Owl House flips many of the ideas and problems found in classic fantasy shows, but especially so with Luz’s mother, Camila Noceda (Elizabeth Grullon), in season 3, episode 1. The Owl House first aired in January 2020 and follows the exploits of Luz Noceda (Sarah-Nicole Robles) when she stumbles into the Demon Realm. After an initial adventure helping the wild witch Eda Clawthorne (Wendi Malick), Luz elects to stay in the magical world to learn to become a witch.

However, one of the elements that make The Owl House so intriguing isn’t just Luz’s adventures with witches and glyph magic with the mysterious Eda the Owl Lady, but the fallout from her decision to stay in the Demon Realm and its ramifications. Often in fantasy shows, whenever the main characters find themselves in magical situations or worlds,...

Disney is taking more strides toward LGBTQ+ representation with the bisexual lead character of The Owl House.

Series creator Dana Terrace spoke about her Disney Channel series on Twitter, confirming that lead character Luz Noceda is bisexual. But even despite some Disney figures’ hesitation, The Owl House went on to feature a queer character as its lead. The Disney channel show follows 14-year-old Luz who seeks to become a witch, despite her lack of magical abilities.
