A late-1990s live-action adaptation of the beloved retro anime and manga franchise Gto: Great Teacher Onizuka is being revisited through a brand-new production.
Titled Gto: Revival, this new live-action project is the sequel to the 1998 live-action version of the classic Great Teacher Onizuka manga by Tooru Onizawa. A new clip of the series recently released on social media, accompanied by the release date of the television special, gives a closer look at how things have changed after 26 years. Most importantly, it showcases the return of actor Takashi Sorimachi in the title role of Onizuka.

The official Twitter account of the upcoming Gto Revival live-action drama unveiled a new trailer previewing the theme song on Feb 5, 2024. Blue Encount will perform the theme song “Poison”.

She is back to her hometown of Ureshino, in Saga Prefecture, Kyushu, after a period of time working in the film industry in Tokyo as an actress but we soon understand – as she goes through a job interview for a humble clerk position – that it is a past she wants to move on from.
