Juan Carlos Salas Tamez (Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, 1976) is a filmmaker, producer, and creative director. His work has been recognized at international festivals and earned multiple awards and honorary distinctions for his contributions to inspirational, values-based Cinema.
He studied Communication Sciences at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL) and later earned a Master's Degree in Multimedia Production from Universidad Camilo José Cela in Madrid, Spain. He also attended the Metrópoli Film School, where he completed the General Film Workshop, specializing in screenwriting, photography, and cinematography, among other disciplines.
Throughout his career, he has received various distinctions and awards, including the title of Honorable Citizen in New York, the Award for Cinematic Merit at the International Inspiration, Religion, and Spirituality Festival in Bali, Indonesia (2017), the Jury Award at Short of the Year Málaga (2016), and the awards for Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Fiction Short Film at The Kids Festival (2016). He has also been honored with an Honorary Doctorate in Art and Cinematic Culture (2024).
Salas has also been involved in the distribution of inspirational films through the Cinema with a Cause initiative, promoting movies such as Keylor Navas: Man of Faith, There Be Dragons by Roland Joffé, Courageous by Alex Kendrick, October Baby by the Erwin Brothers, The Last Top, and Mary's Land by Juan Manuel Cotelo, among others.
He is working on new film projects and expanding the international reach of The Great Warning.
