Lorena Russi(I)
- Director
- Actress
- Writer
LORENA RUSSI is a failed pro soccer player turned comedian, filmmaker and educator. Most recently, Lorena was honored as an IMDB emerging filmmaker of the year, a featured stand up for Comedy Central and "Netflix is a Joke Fest," and a writer/performer for CBS Showcase. She's currently developing her original TV pilot with SONY as well as writing/directing a mockumentary series for Hatch (yes, that clock that helps you sleep).
Lorena's decade+ in entertainment spans across TV/Film, commercials, digital media and live events. In the past, she has served as a writer for a Hulu series starring Queen Latifah & Jada Pinkett Smith, performer/writer on HBO's "Pause with Sam Jay," and writer for "The Late Show w/ Stephen Colbert" digital team. Lorena's bilingual Dad jokes have also been featured on McDonalds, Spotify, The New York Times, PBS, The Oscars, Vice, and Refinery29. Additionally, her extensive training in improv and sketch comedy influences her quirky hosting style which she infuses into branded content for companies like Amazon Live, Nike, AT&T, Snapchat and Chipotle.
Lorena is a Queens native and is, in fact, walkin' here. In a different life, she almost pursued a PhD in Media & Gender Studies with Judith Butler (true), but instead opted for a stint as a professional soccer player (also true). And somehow, she's straight (this is a lie). Lorena's work is heavily influenced by her Colombian immigrant guilt and she apologizes in advance. In the real world, catch Lorena teaching comedy workshops or helping people pronounce her name.
