Barbara O'Connor was born on November 9, 1958. She is an American author of children's books. She was born and grew up in Greenville, South Carolina, and now lives in Duxbury, Massachusetts. Her books have won awards including the Parents Choice Gold Award and being named American Library Association (ALA) Notable Books. Her children's book titled How to Steal a Dog that have been released in 2007 has been optioned for a film by South Korean production for 2014 release. Beside of her children's book project, she also write biography about a famous person such as Leonardo Da Vinci, ''Leonardo Da Vinci: Renaissance Genius'' and Katherine Dunham, ''Katherine Dunham: Pioneer of Black Dance'' in 2002.
