‘Showtime’ Part 2 Ending Explained: What To Expect From Season 2?
Image
The amazing people at Dharmatic Entertainment and Disney+ Hotstar thought that it was a genuinely great idea to release a show called Showtime, starring Emraan Hashmi and Mahima Makwana, in two parts. The first four episodes were released in March, and the next three episodes were released in July. For some reason, if you did watch it and remember nothing about it, there’s a detailed explainer for Part 1 that you can read. Here’s the not-so-detailed version: Prior to his death, the founder of Viktory Studios, Viktor Khanna, revealed that he had an affair back in the day, and his “illegitimate” granddaughter was an up-and-coming film critic, Mahika Nandy.

In addition to that, Viktor’s will stated that Mahika was going to be the owner of Viktory Studios, not his son, Raghu Khanna. That obviously led to a lot of mud-slinging. Mahika tried to make a film called 1857 with Armaan Singh,...

“Showtime, A Perky Precocious Peek-a-Boo Into Bollywood” – A Subhash K Jha Review
Image
Showtime

There is so much happening in Showtime now streaming on Disney+Hotstar, sometimes all in a bunch, that the end product about the rangmanch that’s showbiz leaves us with a lot to munch but nothing really to chew on.

Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharmatics, Showtime ingests some enticing energy and a vestige of vigour in its vinegary plot. But some of the vital plot points are hard to digest—for instance, a young television film critic makes bold to trash a big budget movie after being bribed and the producer hands over his production house for her to run. Wow!

Aisa sirf cinema mein hota hai. Don’t look for signs of real-life Bollywood personalities here. This is not Jubilee. It is a jubilant saucy tongue-in-cheek peep into showbiz shenanigans. The screenplay does’t dig deep into the dirt. It scratches the surface and gives us no real-life references.

‘Showtime’ Web Series Review: A Tasteless & Formulaic Show On The Hindi Film Industry
Image
Movies or television shows about how the world of cinema functions are always fascinating. How the directors, producers, and studios put in effort and money to come out with a film feels like a trip down the lane that breaks all illusions. The media also plays a crucial role in declaring a film a hit or flop, which includes social media enthusiasts who turn into self-taught movie critics. Behind the scenes, how and when a film is made is always a subject of scrutiny for everyone who is used to seeing and hearing gossip about this industry. Luck by Chance and Jubilee are the best examples from recent memory of films that expand on this subject, albeit in two different eras.

The makers of the show, just like with many other Disney+ Hotstar originals, have released only the first half, spanning four episodes. The next set of episodes will only be released in June,...

‘Showtime’ (2024) Cast And Character Guide
Image
Showtime, the new Disney+ Hotstar original, is all about the Hindi film industry. Apart from the glam and the glitz, there is a lot of hard work and stress that goes into mounting, producing, and releasing a film. Showtime by Sumit Roy plans to cover that and bring forward the story of the countless tasks a producer and a studio must engage in. Showtime is about show business, as understood from the title, and it has several characters that make the series interesting. These characters bring to life the roles that many may or may not encounter in real life. They are the backbone of any show or movie, and they never get enough credit for the hard work they put in.

Raghu Khanna

Raghu Khanna, portrayed by Emraan Hashmi, is the current showrunner of Victory Studios, who took over the reins from his father when plenty of their films were flopping.

Women's Asia Cup: Sri Lanka survive almighty UAE scare in the rain-affected 11-run win
Image
Sylhet (Bangladesh), Oct 2 (Ians) Sri Lanka managed to open their account in the Women’s Asia Cup after surviving an almighty scare from the UAE in a rain-affected 11-run win at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium (Sics) on Sunday.

After Mahika Gaur (3/21) and Vaishnave Mahesh (3/15) restricted Sl to 109/9 in 20 overs, UAE were cruising at 20/1 in their first four overs to reach the target. But after rain re-adjusted their target to 66 off 11 overs, the batters failed to step up and could make only 54/7.

After Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu opted to bat first in her 100th T20I match, becoming the first women’s player from Sri Lanka to reach the achievement, she was the first to fall, as Mahika dismissed her on just her second delivery.

Hasini Perera was next to depart, stumped by a quick Theertha Satish in the first over of Suraksha Kotte. Harshitha Madavi top-scored with 37 before...
