This Supremely Terrifying Horror Movie Guaranteed to Ruin Your Day Is Now Free to Stream
Image
There are horror films that wear their intentions on their sleeve and then there are those that lure viewers in with a false sense of security only to repeatedly devastate the unsuspecting at every turn. The 2019 horror film The Lodge falls squarely into the latter category.

This picture melds themes of grief, religious trauma, and isolation, serving up a cinematic cocktail that is unpredictable, shocking, and often tough to watch. Similar to Hereditary before it, The Lodge just continues to deliver blows until the viewer is beaten to a bloody pulp.

If the promise of total cinematic devastation has piqued your curiosity, you may be interested to know that The Lodge is presently available to stream on Tubi.

While we are dropping knowledge, you may be equally interested to learn that the film features a descendant of none other than Elvis Presley in a lead role. That’s right, core...

Rumor: We Have Not Seen The Last Of The Eternals In The Marvel Cinematic Universe
Image
We've heard conflicting reports about an Eternals sequel over the years, but at this stage, another movie revolving around the team of immortal androids is looking less and less likely. That doesn't mean we won't see any of the characters again, however.

According to Alex Perez in his latest Discord Q&a, the Eternals "are not done for. There’ll be more about it in the next saga."

Eternals has its defenders, but it's hardly surprising that Marvel isn't in any rush to revisit these characters. Chloé Zhao's divisive 2021 superhero epic not only had the dubious honor of being the first Marvel Studios movie to drop to "rotten" status on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, but also finishing up its U.S. run with a disappointing $164.9 million to give it one of the lowest domestic hauls of any McU-set film.

Even so, we appeared to get confirmation that a follow-up...

Image
Thunderbolts* North America Box Office Day 18 (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Marvel Studios’ latest movie, Thunderbolts*, maintains a stronghold at the box office in North America. The movie has completed eighteen days and lost the IMAX theatres, but is still maintaining strong legs due to positive word-of-mouth. It has collected a decent $157.4 million at the North American box office. The movie has its eyes set on this MCU bomb next and will soon surpass it. Keep scrolling for more.

Thunderbolts* Box Office Collection Day 18

The New Avengers has once again lost its #2 spot to Sinners at the domestic box office chart. The movie clocked in $1.88 million on its third Monday [via Box Office Mojo]. It has experienced a drop of -32.5% from last Monday, which is a good thing as there is a lot of competition. It also lost 370 theatres last Friday, including the IMAX screens.

Thunderbolts* has been doing consistently better than Captain America: Brave New World.

MCU Star Has Bad News About the Eternals' Possible Return in Avengers: Doomsday
Image
When Eternals came out in 2021, it marked a departure for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unfortunately, it was rather too much of a departure, and the movie was the McU's first critical flop.

None of the members of the Eternals, which consisted of Gemma Chan's Sersi, Richard Madden's Ikaris, Lia McHugh's Sprite, Kumail Nanjiana's Kingo, Brian Tyree Henry's Phastos, Barry Keoghan's Druig, Lauren Ridloff's Makkari, Angelina Jolie's Thena, Don Lee's Gilgamesh, and Salma Hayek's Ajak, were on the recently revealed cast list for Avengers: Doomsday. And now Ridloff has come out and said something herself.

The Direct asked the actress "if Marvel has given you any hints about when we might see [the Eternals] next," and Ridloff answered, "Not likely. I don't know, my magic eight ball is telling me 'Not likely.'"

Not likely.

Her co-stars were slightly more optimistic up until this point.

Eternals Star Lauren Ridloff Says Avengers/MCU Return Is "Not Likely"

Even so, we appeared to get confirmation that a follow-up was in the early planning stages when Game of Thrones alum Kit Harington (who made his MCU debut as Dane Whitman in the movie) suggested that the project had been scrapped.

Captain America: Brave New World Worldwide Box Office: Surpasses The $400 Million+ Global Haul Of Eternals
Image
Captain America: Brave New World Worldwide Box Office: Beats Eternals’ Global Run (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Captain America: Brave New World is slowly achieving new milestones at the worldwide box office. It has crossed the global haul of one of the MCU’s controversial movies, Eternals. The film is controversial because it did not earn as much as other films and was also not met with positive reviews. Anthony Mackie’s film is trying its best not to become one of the five lowest-grossing MCU films.

Eternals was released in 2021 and featured a grand cast of the top Hollywood stars. It featured Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, and Angelina Jolie. The MCU movie featured the immortal beings who came out of hiding after thousands of years to protect Earth from their ancient counterparts, the Deviants.

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Primer: What To Remember Ahead Of The First Marvel Film Of 2025
Image
Captain America: Brave New Soldier follows in the footsteps of three installments for Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers and four Avengers films when Rogers recruited Thor, Iron Man, Black Widow, Thor, The Incredible Hulk and more to combat threats to the world and universe.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), Steve Rogers passed on the torch — in this case his shield with a star in the center and patriotic stripes around the frame — to his righthand man The Falcon, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie). Wilson, in turn, recruited a new Falcon — Joaquin Torres (Danny Ramirez). For those wondering what to watch ahead of the release of the latest MCU film, most of the necessary context and what to remember can be found in three main Marvel projects — The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021), Eternals (2021) and The Incredible Hulk (2018).

For a recap of what to know ahead of watching Captain America: Brave New World,...

‘The Lodge’ Ending, Explained: What Does That Final Shot Mean?
Image
Warning: Spoilers for The Lodge.

Written by Veronika Franz, Severin Fiala, and Sergio Casci and directed by Franz and Fiala, The Lodge is a psychological horror film that is unsettling from the moment it begins. The film follows a soon-to-be stepmom, Grace (Riley Keough), as she, her fiancé Richard (Richard Armitage), and his two children, Aiden (Jaeden Martell) and Mia (Lia McHugh), travel to the family’s remote Massachusetts lodge for the Christmas holiday. However, their situation is wrought with plenty of underlying issues no one is properly addressing.

Six months prior, Richard’s estranged wife, Laura (Alicia Silverstone), took her own life after he informed her that he wanted to finalize their divorce so he and Grace could marry. Clearly a case of infidelity, Richard and Grace met while he was conducting research for his book about the extremist cult Grace’s father led when she was a child.

Frank Grillo Addresses Marvel Having "Been In Trouble" Lately And How James Gunn's DC Universe Is So Different
Image
Actor Frank Grillo is among a select few who have acted in both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and James Gunn's upcoming DC Universe. He played Brock Rumlow/Crossbones in the MCU and will play Rick Flag, Sr. in the Dcu. As such, he has unique insight into what both franchises are like.

In an interview with Cinema Blend, the actor said that Marvel has "been in trouble a little bit because they got, I think, way over their skis, so to speak." He then elaborated that the manner in which James Gunn and Peter Safran are crafting the Dcu "creates a cohesiveness and an understanding of the character" through using the same actors across animated and live-action projects.

Grillo continued: "more importantly, [Gunn] understands how to utilize them in each story. And so there's not an egregious number of people who youre like, Why is he (here)? What's this?...

10 Dark, Psychological Horror Movies That Will Keep You Thinking About Them
Image
By definition, horror movies are generally rather scary. Many feature frightening creatures, intimidating killers, and high amounts of gore. Some of the best horror movies, however, rely more on disturbing ideas than these gruesome images to unsettle their viewers. These films, often referred to as psychological horror movies, capitalize on the natural fears and paranoia of their audiences to scare them in a way that is bound to resonate far beyond the end of the credits.

Part of what makes psychological horror films so terrifying is how they force the audience to relate to their characters far more effectively than typical slasher or monster movies. As a viewer, seeing a freaky, otherworldly creature is bound to be unnerving, but it is still easy to differentiate yourselves from the characters, as you know these monsters aren't real. However, with psychological horror movies, the mental torment endured by the characters is a...

Shang-Chi 2: Simu Liu Offers Exciting Marvel Sequel Update
Image
One of the McU's coolest and most forgotten about heroes, Shang-Chi, will be returning to the MCU, says Simu Liu. Shang-Chi, the master martial artist, made his MCU debut in the 2021 MCU hit Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Despite good reviews from audiences and critics, the movie's Covid release date severely limited its box office potential. Because the character has yet to appear in any follow-up MCU movie or series, fans assumed that Shang-Chi's spotlight had faded permanently. However, Simu Liu has provided audiences with some great news.

Speaking to The Times of India about his new movie Jackpot (which also features his Shang-Chi co-star Awkafina), Simu Liu confirmed that Shang-Chi 2 is in the works at Marvel Studios. The actor didn't provide any details about the film's potential release date, production timeline, or plot, joking that it's above his pay grade. But Liu's confirmation is...

Cancel Culture: “Eternals”
A sequel to Marvel’s live-action "Eternals" feature, has been nixed by the studio, despite a brilliant concept based on the Jack Kirby-created comic book series, that somehow devolved into a multi-million dollar ‘woke’ feature, that would be banned in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait, because one of the characters is ‘gay’:

"...for millions of years, one hundred 'Eternals' have roamed the Earth, as the secret protectors of humanity.

"Without them, we'd be smears between the teeth of the demon-like 'Deviants'.

“But today, Eternals face something new: change. Can they — or anyone — survive their discovery?..."

Eternals: Marvel Studios Confirmed To Have Scrapped Plans For Sequel
Image
MCU sequels used to be a regular occurrence, but Marvel Studios/Disney haven't been as quick to green-light direct follow-ups of late - and with good reason.

Several recent sequels/threequels - including Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels - underperformed, and with Eternals not only having the dubious honor of being the first Marvel Studios movie to drop to "rotten" status on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, but also finishing up its U.S. run with a disappointing $164.9 million to give it the lowest domestic haul of any McU-set movie aside from 2008's The Incredible Hulk ($134M), a sequel always seemed like a long shot.

Even so, it was difficult to imagine that Kevin Feige would simply decide to forget about these characters, and rumors have persisted that a sequel was in the early planning stages.

We're still not sure how accurate these reports were, but if Eternals 2 ever was in development,...

The MCU Officially Passes $30 Billion At The Box Office
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine helped the Marvel Cinematic Universe hit the $30 billion mark, while saying goodbye to the 20th Century Fox Marvel universe. The Avengers franchise was the main cause of Marvel's strength, however, as Marvel Studios dominated the box office for 15+ years. Kevin Feige announced the MCU milestone at Marvel Studios' San Diego Comic-Con panel, signaling continued success.

With the help of Deadpool & Wolverine, the Marvel Cinematic Universe just crossed another crucial milestone. While Deadpool 3 is ushering in new franchises, including the upcoming X-Men movie and Fantastic Four, the Avengers franchise is still offering some support at the box office. Collectively, the MCU has dominated the box office for over 15 years, and the overall strength of Marvel Studios has only continued to rise. Eternals 2 Gets Disappointing Update From Kevin Feige
Image
The Eternals' future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe just got a little murky. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has revealed that there are currently no plans for a sequel to the 2021 superhero movie.

In an interview with Inverse, Feige revealed that there "are no immediate plans for Eternals 2. There are, and I think youve seen maybe in a trailer weve released recently, an acknowledgment of some of those events. Certain giant things came out of the ocean." The Marvel Studios president is referencing the recent Captain America: Brave New World trailer, which briefly featured shots of a battle over Tiamut Island, the landmass that formed when the Eternals defeated a giant Celestial emerging from the center of the Earth. It is believed that Tiamut Island will be a major plot point in both Brave New World and Thunderbolts*.

Eternals 2: Kevin Feige provides an update on the fate of the Marvel sequel

Eternals was a big departure from anything Marvel had done, and this is a franchise which had already introduced a talking raccoon and actual magic. Still, the story of a group of superpowered individuals who had been on earth for 5000 years proved to be divisive, with the film becoming the worst-reviewed project of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It also struggled at the box office, although it should be noted that the film was released during the height of the pandemic. It’s been nearly three years since the release of the film, but there’s still no movement on Eternals 2, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has dropped a disappointing update.

Rumor: We May Know When We'll See The Eternals In The MCU Again
Image
Marvel Studios still hasn't officially announced a sequel to Eternals, but rumors persist that a second film is in development - though, understandably, it may not be a priority for the studio right now.

MCU sequels are a regular occurrence, of course, but Eternals is the only Marvel Studios movie to drop to "rotten" status on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, and the divisive superhero epic finished up its U.S. run with a disappointing $164.9 million, giving it the lowest domestic haul of any McU-set movie aside from 2008's The Incredible Hulk ($134M).

Even so, the first film left quite a few dangling plot threads that still haven't been addressed, and it's difficult to imagine Kevin Feige would simply decide to forget about these characters.

Now, Alex Perez from My Cosmic Circus is reporting that the Eternals sequel is still in the works, but has been put on the "back burner" for the time being.

Kumail Nanjiani Still Has ‘Trauma’ from ‘Eternals’ Bad Reviews

Kumail Nanjiani is opening up about how the critically panned MCU installment “Eternals” affected his mental health.

Nanjiani continued of the actors’ press tour, “It was really, really hard because Marvel thought that movie was going to be really, really well reviewed, so they lifted the embargo early and put it in some fancy movie festivals and they sent us on a big global tour to promote the movie right as the embargo lifted. The MCU Just Introduced Its 2nd Biggest Ever Time Skip (& It Meant Nothing)
Image
Warning: This article contains spoilers for Loki season 2.

Loki's season 2 finale features a centuries-long time skip, allowing the God of Mischief to attempt to stop the explosion of the Temporal Loom. While the time jump in Loki may seem significant, it ultimately has no impact on the wider MCU timeline. The time jump in Eternals, which spans roughly 7000 years, surpasses the time jump in Loki in terms of magnitude and significance.

Marvel Studios' Multiverse Saga has explored millennia of the MCU, with Loki season 2's finale spanning several centuries, marking the second-biggest time-jump in the McU's history. Loki season 2, episode 6, "Glorious Purpose," released on November 9, 2023, concluding Tom Hiddleston's journey as the God of Mischief. Hiddleston debuted as Loki in 2011's Thor, and has since portrayed several different variants of the character, and embarked on two redemption arcs, with the most recent seeing him end up as perhaps the...

Despite the film facing mixed reviews and box office challenges, it was often praised for its ambition, though criticized for introducing elements that weren’t further explored. While some viewers found it refreshing, blending cosmic and mythological themes, others felt it fell short. Despite the uncertainties, there are rumors from a reliable source, Daniel Richtman, suggesting that an ‘Eternals’ sequel is in the early stages of development.

Sequel to ‘Eternals’ in Early Development, Richard Madden To Return as Ikaris According to Rumors
Image
Upon its release, ‘Eternals’ marked the change of direction in the MCU, and despite the movie receiving mixed reviews and bombing at the box office, it was often described as ambitious and sometimes incoherent due to many elements introduced, which were subsequently never used again.

Some viewers considered the movie a breath of fresh air and appreciated the themes that mixed cosmic themes with mythologies, but some felt that the movie didn’t quite hit the mark. Still, it seems that ‘Eternals’ was ambitious enough to warrant itself a sequel. Nothing has been confirmed so far, but a source of reliable scoops and leaks, Daniel Richtman, claimed that the sequel to the movie is in early development.

Marvel’s Kevin Feige Teases MCU Return for Eternals Star Harry Styles
Image
Kevin Feige hints at the return of Harry Styles to the MCU as Starfox/Eros, with both sides waiting for the right time. Feige discusses the possibility of Eros and Pip appearing again, suggesting they could introduce other supernatural characters like Ghost Rider. Patton Oswalt has not heard any news about a Pip and Eros return, but expresses excitement and willingness to join forces with Styles for a potential Eros and Pip movie.

Marvel's Kevin Feige recently teased the return of Harry Styles to the MCU following his post-credits cameo appearance as Starfox/Eros in Eternals. Marvel fans got an unexpected surprise back in 2021 when Styles made his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a post-credits cameo as Eros, aka Starfox. Since then, there has been very little info about the future of the Eternals franchise, and whether or not Styles' character will make any more appearances. However,...

10 MCU Characters Who Got Weaker Over Time
Image
Many characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have had their powers weakened over time, whether through transformations, injuries, or the loss of abilities. Notable characters like Sprite, Star-Lord, and War Machine have experienced significant power changes, with some being transformed into humans or losing their abilities altogether. Even powerful heroes like Thanos, Vision, and Captain Marvel have faced depowering from events such as injuries, loss of stones, or the exploration of their human flaws, making them more relatable but potentially weaker.

Several characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been made weaker over the course of Marvel Studios' franchise. Since the MCU started with 2008's Iron Man, Marvel Studios has introduced dozens of complex, interesting, and powerful characters into live-action, each of them adapted from the pages of the Marvel Comics source material. Often, however, characters' powers in Marvel Comics don't always translate properly into live-action, so several of the...

The Lodge Ending Explained: Gaslit Into Purgatories Of Our Own Making
Image
Complete and utter isolation can break the strongest of human minds, especially when coupled with the feeling of being boxed in without the choice to freely leave. One does not have to be secluded on their own to experience debilitating cabin fever, as the presence of others can breed feelings of paranoia and distrust, making the phenomenon highly contagious. At first, this appears to be the crux of "The Lodge," in which Grace (Riley Keough) and two children find themselves trapped in a wintry cabin in the middle of nowhere, with every basic necessity inexplicably vanishing into thin air. As they experience strange and unsettling events over time, psychosis sets in, intensifying the sense of derealization that permeates throughout the film. Just when things teeter over the edge, unsavory revelations undercut the very sense of reality (or unreality) that the film builds itself on.

In simple terms, the events of...

1 Eternals Character Has Already Been Set Up As A Future MCU Villain
Image
Kingo has already been teased to have a villainous future in the MCU after his previous appearance in Eternals. Chloé Zhao's 2021 Marvel Studios entry, Eternals, introduced ten new superheroes into the MCU in the form of the immortal Eternals, beings created by the Celestials, imbued with god-like powers. The Eternals are tasked to watch over humanity and allow their population to grow so that the emergence of the Celestial Tiamut can begin. While most of Eternals was focused on Sersi (Gemma Chan) and her relationship with fellow Eternal Ikaris (Richard Madden), the other team members also got a healthy amount of development, including Kumail Nanjiani's Bollywood star, Kingo.

Hot on the heels of his new Disney+ series, Welcome to Chippendales, in which he portrays entrepreneur and founder of Chippendales, Somen "Steve" Banerjee, The Big Sick star Nanjiani spoke to Esquire about his rise to stardom and role in Marvel Studios' Eternals.

Kumail Nanjiani Has “No Idea” About ‘Eternals 2’ But “Would Love To Come Back” To MCU
Image
Kumail Nanjiani is talking about the potential sequel to Eternals, the Marvel film directed by Oscar winner Chloé Zhao.

During an appearance in a podcast, Nanjiani was asked about the superhero movie after his co-star Patton Oswalt hinted that a sequel was in the works.

“I have no idea,” Nanjiani said on the Bingeworthy podcast by The Playlist. “I don’t think Patton was right. I think that there was a hoax website – one of those where it’s like one letter off from the real one. They tweeted it, and it spread around and I think that’s what Patton saw. I honestly don’t know anything. I would love for Kingo to come back. I love playing that character. That one’s very fun to play, you’re just in a good mood. You do finger guns, you’re like a movie star – what’s not to love?...

Eternal Kingo's MCU Future Addressed by Kumail Nanjiani
Image
Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani addresses the unclear future of his fan-favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe character, Kingo. Released last year, Eternals saw Chloé Zhao make her MCU directorial debut and introduced audiences to the titular race of immortal beings who serve as protectors of planet Earth. While the story of Eternals takes place across 7,000 years, the film focuses mainly on the modern day, whereby the heroes have disbanded and are now living "normal human" lives on Earth. Nanjiani stars as Kingo, a charismatic Bollywood star who is never without his trusted valet, Karun. Kingo's involvement with the dramatic events of Eternals saw...

‘Eternals’ Sets Disney+ Streaming Date
Image
Disney/Marvel’s Eternals is landing on Disney+ 69 days after its Nov. 5 theatrical release that date being January 12, 2022.

That window is a notable size considering Disney’s experiment to crush theatrical down to a day-and-date model with Disney+ during the pandemic. Previously, Disney/Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings had a 71-day window before landing on Disney+. Disney previously rubbed Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson the wrong way in the aftermath of that film’s short-change at the B.O. given its simultaneous availability on Disney+; the actress suing the studio and ultimately reaching an amicable settlement.

The movie, directed by Oscar winner Chloe Zhao, was part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s further extension of its latest phase multiverse plot, however, in its Byzantine plotting fell short to wow fans who gave it the worst CinemaScore for a Disney/MCU title that being a B.
