I remember seeing Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in the middle of the 90s, almost two decades after it was released, and being blown away by it. It was dirty, gritty, harsh, violent, sadistic and raw. It was one of my first true forays into horror, and it stuck with me. It remains one of my favourite examples of the genre to this day. Since then there have been many films released that have attempted to replicate the tone of Hooper’s demented masterpiece. Blue Fox Entertainment has released an official trailer for an indie horror film from Canada called Butchers, made by filmmaker Adrian Langley. This premiered at FrightFest and the Telluride Horror Show this year, and it is set to open on VOD starting in January next month. A family of sadistic butchers has dug into the backcountry and, from the deep freeze of winter to the dog days of summer, anyone who crosses their path is dead meat. The full cast includes Simon Phillips, Michael Swatton, Julie Mainville, Anne-Carolyne Binette, James Hicks, and Frederik Storm. This seems to be a bit of an homage to the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre, about a family of deranged maniacs living out in the middle of nowhere who just love to murder. Red Hound Films is excited to share the official trailer for the upcoming backwoods slasher Butchers, coming to select theaters and VOD January 12, 2021, via Red Hound Films.

It looks so scary!:

In Butchers, a family of sadistic butchers has dug into the backcountry and, from the deep freeze of winter to the dog days of summer, anyone who crosses their path is dead meat.

It was directed by Adrian Langley (Gutshot) who also co-wrote the script with Daniel Weissenberger (Come True), and stars Simon Phillips, Michael Swatton (The Lesson), Julie Mainville (We Are The Missing), Anne-Carolyne Binette (The Scarlet Vultures), James Hicks (Midway), and Frederik Storm (The Nights Before Christmas).

Following its recent virtual screening during Popcorn Frights Wicked Weekend Halloween event, we're excited to exclusively reveal that Red Hound Films will release Butchers in select theaters and VOD on January 12th, 2021, and we also have exclusive images and the poster to share with Daily Dead readers!

Directed by Adrian Langley from a screenplay by Langley and Daniel Weissenberger, Butchers stars Simon Phillips, Michael Swatton, Julie Mainville, Anne-Carolyne Binette, James Hicks, Frederik Storm, Nick Allan, Samantha De Benedet, Blake Canning, and Jonathan Largy. The film is produced by Langley, Doug Phillips, and Kevin Preece.
