The number of professional female voice actors in Japan has once again reached an all-time high, with many of these being celebrated in the March issue of Seiyuu Grand Prix, which went on sale on Feb 10th, 2025. Released alongside it was the Voice Actor Directory 2025 Female Edition, which lists 1,099 known female voice actors, many of them well-known to anime fans in particular, among its pages.

Via Japanese news site Oricon, the Voice Actor Directory Female Edition has been in publication since 2001 and is a very popular supplement for the main magazine. This year's list brings together 1,099 profiles of female voice actors, breaking the all-time highest count in the Directory for the 14th issue in a row. When the magazine began reporting on the list in 2001, there were only 225 women featured, but that number has consistently grown with every publication that has been released.
