Joaquin Phoenix & Pedro Pascal Face Off in New Trailer For 'Eddington'
Image
Ari Aster's newest film, Eddington, is gearing up to be one of the most interesting and controversial releases of the year, and the latest trailer released by A24 showcases what looks to be an intense showdown between Joaquin Phoenix's Joe Cross and Pedro Pascal's Ted Garcia. While the teaser trailer is only a minute long, it effectively uses those 60 seconds to ramp up the tension, unlike any of the other trailers released up until this point. Overall, Eddington looks unlike anything Aster has made before, leaning more towards action than the horror for which the director has become well-known.

The fast-paced new trailer does an incredible job of showcasing the ensemble cast at the heart of Eddington, effectively selling the film as an intense narrative with numerous moving pieces. At the heart of the conflict, though, are Eddington Sheriff Joe Cross (Phoenix) and Mayor Ted Garcia (Pascal...

How ‘Rebel Ridge’ became the Emmy frontrunner for Best TV Movie
Image
Is Rebel Ridge about to follow in the Emmy-winning footsteps of Quiz Lady, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, and ... Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers?

The Netflix telefilm has held the No. 1 spot in Gold Derby's Best TV Movie odds all season long, despite increasingly fierce competition from the likes of Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, Out of My Mind, Mountainhead, Am I Ok?, and The Gorge. Why? Perhaps Rebel Ridge is still coasting off its awards juice from earlier in the season, where it claimed prizes at the Critics Choice Awards (Best TV Movie) and Image Awards (Best Actor for Aaron Pierre), and scored nominations from the Producers Guild and Writers Guild, among others.

The action thriller stars Pierre as Terry Richmond, a former Marine who has a run-in with a small town's corrupt and racist police force, including Don Johnson's Chief Sandy Burnne. The cast is rounded out by AnnaSophia Robb,...

Cannes 2025 wrap: ‘Sentimental Value,’ Jennifer Lawrence, June Squibb, and the 2026 Oscar contenders to know
Image
The 2026 Oscar race has already started.

Over the last two weeks, several major titles premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, and it’s a safe bet to assume many of the films and performances launched on the French Riviera will play a significant part in the forthcoming awards season.

Ahead, the movies and actors who gained the most during the Cannes Film Festival.

Sentimental Value

Heading into this year’s Cannes Film Festival, no movie had more awards buzz than Sentimental Value — and yet, somehow, it seems like the actual film surpassed those lofty expectations. The response at Cannes to Joachim Trier’s latest was nothing short of ecstatic: Sentimental Value earned an absurd 19-minute standing ovation and was called a “masterpiece” by critics and instantly became the film to beat for the Palme d'Or. Regarding its awards prospects, expect most pundits to pencil this one in for nominations in Best Picture,...

Cannes: Scarlett Johansson’s ‘Eleanor the Great’ scores praise and Oscar buzz for June Squibb
Image
Jennifer Lawrence isn’t the only Best Actress hopeful generating Oscar buzz at the Cannes Film Festival.

On Tuesday, Sony Pictures Classics premiered Eleanor the Great, Scarlett Johansson’s directorial debut with June Squibb in the lead role. Truth be told, the awards campaign for Squibb began months ago, when Thelma Star and Johansson presented together at the Academy Awards.

So while the reviews for Eleanor the Great were largely mixed, it comes as little surprise that Squibb has been deemed innocent of its flaws.

“June Squibb is a pure joy from start to finish, delivering the finest performance of her career, making audiences laugh out loud one moment and breaking their hearts the next,” Next Best Picture’s Matt Neglia wrote on social media.

“It’s not every day that a 95-year-old gets a standing ovation at Cannes. Here’s June Squibb, the lead of Scarlett Johansson’s directorial debut Eleanor the Great,...

Eleanor the Great: Reactions for Scarlett Johansson’s directorial debut hit social media
Scarlett Johansson
Scarlett Johansson has had a busy week after hosting the final Saturday Night Live of the season, the Jurassic World: Rebirth trailer just dropped online and now reactions are coming in for her directorial debut — Eleanor the Great. The film stars June Squibb as a 90-year-old Floridian woman who strikes up an unlikely friendship with a 19-year-old student in New York City. The movie just screened at Cannes (and got June Quibb a five-minute standing ovation afterwards) and reactions have hit social media.

Matt Neglia had a lot of positive things to say in his reaction, “Eleanor The Great is as hilarious as it is moving. In her feature directorial debut, Scarlett Johansson brings a gentle, assured touch to this story about grief, connection, and the instinct to retreat inward in the face of loss. June Squibb is a pure joy from start to finish, delivering the finest performance of her career,...

'Highest 2 Lowest' Debuts to Impressive Rotten Tomatoes Score After Cannes Premiere
Image
Nearly 20 years after Spike Lee and Denzel Washington joined forces for the 2006 thriller Inside Man, the duo are finally back together for the reinterpretation of Akira Kurosawa's 1963 Japanese film High and Low. Titled Highest 2 Lowest, the neo-noir crime thriller made its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival yesterday and has debuted to an impressive Rotten Tomatoes score of 92%, signifying that Lee and Washington could have another hit on their hands when the film hits theaters later this year.

Also starring Jeffrey Wright, Ilfenesh Hadera, Asap Rocky, and Ice Spice in her film debut, Highest 2 Lowest features Washington as David King, a music mogul who's widely known for having the "best ears in the business." When he's targeted with a ransom plot, King finds himself jammed up in a life-or-death moral dilemma.

Critic Matt Neglia from Next Best Picture notes that the film isn't just a "welcome reunion between two of cinema's greats,...

Wes Anderson
Wes Anderson’s The Phoenician Scheme debuts at Cannes. Check out the first reactions here
Wes Anderson
Wes Anderson is schemin’ up something, as his latest film, The Phoenician Scheme has just had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. So how did it fare at the world’s most famous fest and does it have a shot at the Palme d’Or?

The way it sounds, The Phoenician Scheme is very much a Wes Anderson movie; that might sound vague and non-descriptive but you know exactly what we mean when we say that. With that, we seem to be looking at more of the same, which isn’t a slight at all. Indeed, if there’s one director whose visual style we want to continue to feast on, it’s Anderson.

The Phoenician Scheme is Anderson’s tightest contraption in years. The repertory ensemble vibrates with electricity, Delbonnel invigorates Wes with some shocking camera moves, and Barney Pilling’s razor-sharp editing is the best in the biz.

Eddington First Reactions Have Divided Critics After Ari Aster's Western Has Cannes Debut
Image
Early reactions to Eddington are divisive, following the Cannes Film Festival premiere. The Western, directed by Ari Aster of Hereditary and Midsommar, explores a deadlock between a sheriff and mayor in New Mexico, spawned by Covid-19. Eddington will be released on July 18 and stars Joaquin Phoenix, who previously collaborated with Aster on Beau Is Afraid, as well as Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, Luke Grimes, Austin Butler, Deirdre O’Connell, and Michael Ward.

After premiering at Cannes, Eddington has received largely polarizing reactions, centered around numerous aspects, including the movie’s commentary and how Aster captured Covid-19. Check out some of the responses below:

Eddington isn’t just the definitive film about the pandemic, it may be the most unflinchingly accurate portrait yet of how deeply America has spiraled into paranoia, hysteria, and unapologetic selfishness. What begins as a damning political commentary morphs into a murder… pic.twitter.com/hfgaAswvsp— Matt Neglia...

Thunderbolts* Isn’t Trying to Be Avengers: Endgame and Early Reviews Are Pointing Why It May Truly Change the MCU
Image
MCU stans, assemble! Thunderbolts* isn’t just another team-up movie. It’s the wild card Marvel’s been saving in the back pocket, and it’s finally about to shake things up in a way we haven’t seen since Tony Stark first snapped on that Arc Reactor in 2008.

This film is officially breaking a 17-year-long MCU tradition — yep, a streak that’s been running since Iron Man kickstarted the whole Infinity Saga. And honestly? About time. Thunderbolts* is set to be the final chapter of Phase 5, and it couldn’t be coming at a more crucial moment. With the Multiverse Saga getting twistier and fans craving that old-school MCU magic with a dark edge, this might just be the shot of adrenaline we need.

What makes Thunderbolts* different? It’s not your classic Avengers-style hero fest. We’re talking a squad of broken, bruised, morally gray misfits — the kind...

‘Thunderbolts*’ First Reactions Just Landed & They Are Overwhelmingly Positive: “Easily One of the Best MCU Movies in a Long Time”
Image
Only two weeks after the ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ finale, MCU is back at it with ‘Thunderbolts*’ finally hitting the big screen on May 2. Luckily, Marvel Studios decided to lift the social media review embargo 10 days before (seems like they knew they had a hit with this one).

The first reviews for ‘Thunderbolts*’ just landed, calling it “different from other MCU films that have come before it,” “some of Marvel’s darkest material to date,” and “A visually daring, emotionally resonant superhero film that pushes mental health to the forefront.”

Here’s the round-up of reviews:

Thunderbolts* is, in many ways, different from other MCU films that have come before it, and that freshness couldn’t have arrived at a more opportune time, when the franchise is in need of new blood and direction. ‘Thunderbolts’ First Reactions Praise How Florence Pugh “Brings The Heart” To Marvel Movie & Takes Yelena Belova “To Another Level”
Image
The first reviews of Thunderbolts are coming in, and early reactions are praising the Marvel movie.

Thunderbolts stars Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, Lewis Pullman, Hannah John-Kamen, David Harbour, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and more.

The superhero film follows a group of antiheroes forced to work together on a dangerous mission after being caught in a deadly trap.

Matt Neglia, the editor-in-chief of Next Best Picture, took to social media to marvel at Thunderbolts, calling it “different from other MCU films” and coming at an “opportune time when the franchise is in need of new blood and direction.”

“It’s some of Marvel’s darkest material to date, dealing with the emotional wreckage of broken individuals grappling with their past choices and finding camaraderie amidst the emptiness of their lives,” Neglia adds.

The editor also gave special props to Pugh, “who carries much of the dramatic weight of the movie on her back.

Marvel’s ‘Thunderbolts’ first reactions: Florence Pugh draws early raves as the MCU returns to form
Image
Marvel might be back.

Disney lifted the social embargo on Marvel’s Thunderbolts on Tuesday afternoon, more than a week before the film hits theaters, and the early word on the superhero feature is stronger than any Marvel Cinematic Universe entry in some time.

“Well Thunderbolts is easily one of the best MCU movies in a long time (and maybe one of my new personal faves),” freelancer journalist Emily Murray wrote on social media. “Has so much spark, charisma, and tells a genuinely emotional story you connect with. A tear was shed. Florence Pugh in particular superb, just walks away with it.”

'Thunderbolts*' Reactions Praise Character-Driven Story That Returns to MCU Roots
Image
The social media embargo for Thunderbolts*has officially been lifted, which means critics are already giving their thoughts on the latest MCU team-up film. Early returns from test screenings have suggested that Marvel Studios has a hit on their hands, but now fans can get a better idea of what to expect when the film hits theaters next month. Starring Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Lewis Pullman, and Olga Kurylenko, Thunderbolts* features a ragtag group of villains and anti-heroes that are forced to work together to save the world from an Avengers-level threat.

The first reactions to Thunderbolts* praise the film for its character-driven narrative and grounded action sequences. Matt Neglia says it has a "freshness" to it that arrives at the perfect time in a tepid MCU, emphasizing that it's quite different from anything that has come before it. "It’s some of Marvel’s darkest material to date,...

Thunderbolts* first reactions praise a deeply human story with Florence Pugh as the highlight of the movie
Image
The first reactions to the London premiere of Thunderbolts* have emerged. With a surprisingly emotional story at its heart, most are calling it a return to form for Marvel and have heralded Florence Pugh (Yelena) as the picture’s Mvp.

Matt Neglia writes that Thunderbolts* is “different from other MCU films that have come before it, and that freshness couldn’t have arrived at a more opportune time, when the franchise is in need of new blood and direction. It’s some of Marvel’s darkest material to date, dealing with the emotional wreckage of broken individuals grappling with their past choices and finding camaraderie amidst the emptiness of their lives. This may be a team-up film, but it very much belongs to Florence Pugh, who carries much of the dramatic weight of the movie on her back, while Lewis Pullman delivers a complex performance as a sympathetic character at war with himself.

‘Thunderbolts’ First Reactions: Florence Pugh Is ‘Superb’ in ‘Some of Marvel’s Darkest Material to Date’
Image
Marvel’s “Thunderbolts” has been revealed to members of the film press, and the first reactions are calling the superhero tentpole a “bold dive into trauma, healing and redemption.” Cast member Florence Pugh, who made her Marvel debut in “Black Widow” as Yelena and is now headlining her first MCU movie after popping up in shows like “Hawkeye,” appears to have the standout performance. The Oscar nominee’s performance is being called “superb” and the one that “shines the brightest” among the cast.

Next Best Picture editor in chief Matt Neglia writes that “Thunderbolts” is “some of Marvel’s darkest material to date” and “very much belongs to Florence Pugh, who carries much of the dramatic weight of the movie on her back, while Lewis Pullman delivers a complex performance as a sympathetic character at war with himself. ‘Sinners’ reviews: Ryan Coogler’s ‘best movie so far’ wins raves from critics
Image
Originally published April 10, 2025; updated April 17, 2025.

Ryan Coogler has another winner on his hands with Sinners.

Critics have embraced the new Warner Bros. supernatural thriller as the Black Panther filmmaker’s “best movie so far.”

That’s high praise for the director, who broke up with the Sundance movie Fruitvale Station before mining studio intellectual property so successfully with 2015’s Creed and the two Black Panther films for Marvel and Disney.

Sinners is his first original project, a 1930s-set creature feature about twin brothers who encounter blood-thirsty vampires on the same night they open their first juke joint. Coogler, a two-time Oscar nominee, enlisted several of his usual collaborators for the movie, including costume designer Ruth E. Carter (a two-time Oscar winner for the Black Panther movies) and composer Ludwig Goransson (an Oscar winner for Black Panther and Oppenheimer).

On Rotten Tomatoes, Sinners has a 98 percent fresh rating; at Metacritic, it...

‘Sinners’ First Reactions Praise Ryan Coogler’s Bold Vision as ‘Gory, Horny, Relevant’
Image
“Sinners” is about to take a bite out of the spring film calendar in 2025.

Ryan Coogler’s ambitious big swing “Sinners” marks the “Black Panther” director’s first original project, out from under the weight of I.P., since his 2013 Sundance sensation “Fruitvale Station” put him on the map. The 38-year-old mega talent has had an impressive run directing both “Black Panther” movies along with the Rocky spinoff “Creed” (2015), while also producing that film’s two sequels — all major box office coups. But he wrote the Warner Bros. supernatural horror epic “Sinners,” out April 18, from his own idea, and first reactions are already praising a vision that welds classic vampire mythology to the metastasizing racism underlying the mid-century American South.

“Black Panther” and “Creed” star Michael B. Jordan plays dual roles as twin brothers Smoke and Stack, each representing their own side of a coin of good and corrupt. They...

'Sinners' Early Reactions Praise the Period Horror Movie as One of the Best of 2025
Image
Black Panther director Ryan Coogler reunites with Black Panther and Creed star Michael B. Jordan for the period horror movie Sinners...and it sounds like the pair have crafted something spectacular. The early reactions to Sinners, which finds Jordan playing dual roles as twin brothers who return to their hometown, have now emerged, with many hailing the horror outing as one of the best of the year.

Beginning with Matt Neglia of @NextBestPicture, Sinners is declared “a one-of-a-kind cinematic experience,” that’s “absolutely awesome!!”

Michael B. Jordan delivers an effortlessly cool dual performance and Miles Caton impresses in his film acting debut. While the film takes its time immersing us in its setting and introducing us to the characters, once Coogler sets the stage, the music and the blood flows with an otherworldly kind of energy that is wholly singular and unforgettable.

The astonishing praise continues courtesy of @LiamTCrowley of ScreenRant,...

The first reactions to Jason Statham and David Ayer’s A Working Man say it’s pure ’80s-style action with an absurd body count
Image
If action movies from the ’80s get your blood pumping, you’ll want to pay attention to the hype behind David Ayer and Jason Stathams latest cinematic beat-down, A Working Man. The first reactions to the duo’s latest display of one-man-army madness are making the rounds on social media. From the look of things, we’ve got many reasons to get excited about Statham’s latest showcase of badassery and body-sending one-liners.

According to JoBlo’s Editor-in-Chief, Chris Bumbray, A Working Man is a “campy B-movie blast” that starts off low-key but quickly ramps up with demented madness.

A Working Man is a campy B-movie blast. Statham kills hundreds. Stallone’s script is eighties-style madness (a compliment) and Ayer’s direction is on point. Similar to Beekeeper in that it starts low key and gets more demented (gloriously so) as it goes on.

‘Warfare’: First Reactions to Alex Garland’s A24 War Film
Image
I’ve been hearing a lot about ‘Warfare’ lately, the new war flick from Alex Garland and A24. It’s hitting people hard, and the early reactions are pouring in from folks who’ve caught it already. This isn’t your typical war movie—it’s raw, intense, and doesn’t pull punches. With Garland teaming up with Ray Mendoza, a guy who knows combat firsthand, they’ve cooked up something that’s got everyone talking about its realism and emotional punch.

The film drops you right into the chaos of a mission gone sideways. Perri Nemiroff put it best: ‘Totally overwhelmed by #Warfare. Undeniably one of the most immersive and visceral war movies I’ve ever seen — and also one that romanticizes war the least. Gripping from the moment it opens, Warfare puts the viewer right smack in the middle of a mission gone wrong. You’re quickly swallowed...

‘Warfare’: First Reactions to Alex Garland’s A24 War Film
Image
The first reactions to Alex Garland and Ray Mendoza’s Warfare have hit social media, and the early consensus suggests the film is an intense, brutal and harrowing work that must be experienced in theaters.

Warfare is a real-time and immersive retelling of a battle during the 2006 Iraq War, and follows a team of Navy SEALs coming under heavy fire as they are trapped inside a house.

In addition to co-directing the feature, Mendoza, an Iraq War veteran, co-wrote the script for Warfare with Garland and the film largely is based on Mendoza’s memories of the conflict. Warfare is Garland’s follow-up to the much-talked about 2024 release Civil War, that was A24’s most expensive film ever to produce and also the studio’s second most successful release at the global box office after Oscar-winner Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Much like the equally realistic and harrowing Black Hawk Down...

The first reactions to Another Simple Favor have arrived following its premiere at 2025’s South by Southwest.

'Black Bag' Reactions Call Steven Soderbergh's Spy Thriller His "Very Best"
Image
Prolific director Steven Soderbergh has already released one film this year that was met with critical acclaim (Presence), and now his second movie of 2025, Black Bag, is yet again being heralded as a masterpiece. Starring Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender as a pair of legendary intelligence agents, the film follows Fassbender's character of George Woodhouse as his loyalty to his country and his marriage is put to the test when his wife, Kathryn, is suspected of betraying the nation. Hitting theaters on March 14, 2025, folks who saw an early screening of the film have thus far had nothing but good things to say about it on social media.

Taking to X, Drew Taylor from The Wrap calls Black Bag one of Soderbergh's "very best," while also adding that it's "a tense, taut, crackling spy movie whose note-perfect script by David Koepp is equal parts Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and Mission: Impossible.

The First Reactions To Bill Skarsgard's Nosferatu Have Critics United
Image
Some lucky critics got to see an early screening of Robert Eggers' take on the classic vampire tale "Nosferatu" — and they all say it freaking rules.

The film, which stars Bill Skårsgard as the titular bloodsucker alongside Lily-Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, and Willem Dafoe (among many others), is already earning raves from the fortunate folks who got to see it first. "'Nosferatu:' strangely comforting this week to watch a film that feels conjured from the darkest depths of pure evil," critic Jordan Raup wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter). "Eggers' most assured work, one in which you can feel his obsessions flow through every nocturnal frame. Lily Rose-Depp and Bill Skarsgard are out of this world." Carlos Aguilar agreed, saying, "After a few months I can finally share I loved ['Nosferatu']. It further crystallizes Eggers' exploration of evil as an elemental force, as inherent to existence as desire,...

Nosferatu First Reactions Are In, And The Verdict On Robert Eggers Remake Is Unanimous
Image
The first few reactions have arrived for Nosferatu, and there seems to be agreement about the horror film. From The Witch and The Lighthouse director Robert Eggers, the upcoming remake of the classic 1922 silent film reimagines the tale of the classic Transylvanian vampire. It's one of the most highly anticipated movies this fall, with lots of award buzz for the filmmaker and cast. The film features Emma Corrin, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bill Skarsgrd, Nicholas Hoult, Willem Dafoe, Ralph Ineson, and Lily-Rose Depp.

Now, the first reviews are in for Nosferatu. The results were unanimously glowing, with many critics calling it one of the best films of the year. Praise was especially granted to the performances of Depp and Skarsgrd, along with several other key actors in the film. Check out some of the reactions to Nosferatu below:

‘Nosferatu’ First Reactions: ‘Seductively Macabre,’ ‘Erotic,’ ‘Pure Evil,’ and ‘Goes Harder Than Any Other Horror Film This Year’
Image
Robert Eggers’ gothic tale of obsession “Nosferatu” had its first screenings in New York City and Los Angeles on Thursday, November 7, including an L.A. Academy screening moderated by Guillermo del Toro. Early reactions are in for the 19th-century period piece horror about the title vampire’s (Bill Skarsgård) obsession with a woman named Ellen Hutter (Lily-Rose Depp). Nicholas Hoult plays her husband Thomas, sent to Transylvania to ink a real estate contract with Nosferatu, only to end up signing away his marriage and his wife’s soul. But is it not Ellen who was luring Nosferatu to her all along? The rest of the English-accented cast in the period-detailed gothic horror movie includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Willem Dafoe, and Ralph Ineson.

On Threads, IndieWire’s Anne Thompson wrote, “Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu is a period delight, a fantastic horror tale exquisitely mounted and efficiently told. It’s historically authentic with a strong English-accented cast.

Nosferatu first reactions: One of Robert Eggers’ best might be heading to the Oscars
Image
You have such a beautiful neck…and as it seems, Robert Eggers’ latest, Nosferatu, is living its mark on audiences. That might feel like a pun, but this film might be contending for one of the best of the year.

With just three films to his name so far, Robert Eggers quickly solidified himself as one of the premiere horror directors out there — and one isn’t even close to being in that genre: The Northman. However, Eggers might be heading towards the Oscars stage with Nosferatu, as it is earning some serious praise early on. Check out some of the initial reactions from social media, starting off with our very own Jimmy O’s take:

Our own @jimmytotheo says @Nosferatu is a stunning work of gothic horror. Beautiful performances throughout, however Lily-Rose Depp is simply luminous and Bill Skarsgard brings terror to the screen yet wraps it all in a layered character.

Nosferatu First Reactions Declare the Horror Outing Oscar-Worthy
Image
Do we have a modern horror classic on our hands? Director Robert Eggers returns to the genre he has already shown an affinity for in the likes of The Witch with Nosferatu, which has now screened for critics who have since taken to X/Twitter to share their reactions. And it sounds like the filmmaker has done it again, and then some.

We begin with Courtney Howard, who declares that Nosferatu goes harder than any other horror movie so far this year, with Bill Skarsgrd delivering a performance that is nothing less than nightmare fuel.

"Robert Eggers #Nosferatu goes Harder than any other horror film this year. Holy fuck. A gorgeous grotesquerie of dread-infused terrors & a divine dark delight. Bill Skarsgrds Count Orlok is pure sinister nightmare fuel. Lily Rose Depp & Nicholas Hoults best work to date."

The praise for the cast continues courtesy of The Playlists Gregory Ellwood, who thinks several of the stars,...

Nosferatu: Johnny Depp Would be Proud, The Nepotism Debate Has to Stop After Lily Rose Depp Shines in “The Scariest Movie Since The Shining”
Image
The Nosferatu remake has been highly anticipated since it was first announced. Although audiences are always hesitant about remakes of classic films, the cast and the people involved with the project brought them some hope. With The Lighthouse’s Robert Eggers heading the project, it stars big names like Bill Skarsgård, Willem Dafoe, Emma Corrin, and Lily-Rose Depp.

A Scene From Nosferatu | Focus Features, Universal Pictures

The last name from the bunch has caused many to hesitate though, wondering if one more ‘nepo baby’ would end up ruining a film because they had connections in the right places. However, if the early reviews are to be believed, fans do not have to worry about Depp’s acting in the slightest.

Lily-Rose Depp Created Cause for Concern With Nosferatu

The nepotism debate has been ongoing in Hollywood for many years now. It has become quite common for the public to debate...

Oscar odds update: ‘Anora’ still out front to win Best Picture, but now there’s a 3-way tie for 2nd place
Image
“Anora” has remained Gold Derby’s predictions front-runner to win Best Picture at the 2025 Oscars for several months now, but the runner-up position has kept our awards pundits on their toes. In fact, there is now a three-way tie for second place, as “Emilia Perez,” “The Brutalist,” and “Conclave” all have the same odds of 17/2, compared to “Anora’s” leading 15/2 odds. Note that the Oscar odds will continue to change as our Experts from major media outlets, our website staff Editors, and our Users keep making or updating their predictions.

Sean Baker‘s “Anora” stars Mikey Madison as the titular Brooklyn stripper who gets married to a Russian oligarch (Mark Eydelshteyn). Its Oscar chances received a major boost earlier this year when it won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Red One First Reviews are a Mixed Bag for Amazon's Christmas Action Movie
Image
Halloween is over, and that means Christmas is already on the minds of many people. Therefore, the highly anticipated action comedy Red One starring Dwayne Johnson, Chris Evans and J.K. Simmons has received its first screening for critics. A few initial reactions have surfaced online, and the question is will the movie be on the naughty or nice list this year?

Red One seems to have been a long time coming, mainly thanks to being delayed due to the Covid pandemic, the Hollywood strikes of 2023, and then, after missing a reasonable release window around Christmas 2023, the film was given a hefty push into late 2024. Now it is set to be released in cinemas on November 15 ahead of its debut on Prime Video, and if all goes well, will become part of a new Christmas franchise for Amazon MGM.

As far as Christmas movies go, there are those that are seen...
