Even as Outlander fans shed some tears during this present Droughtlander, in the knowledge that a farewell to the characters of the beloved Starz series is around the corner. There are already solid plans in place to get those tears wiped away as the highly anticipated prequel series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, will officially arrive on Friday, August 8. The love story of Jamie's (Sam Heughan) parents as well as Claire's (Caitríona Balfe) parents will be the spin-off's focus and has been highly anticipated since the prequel was announced. The eighth and final season of the original Outlander does not have a release date yet, so fans will enjoy the first season of Outlander: Blood of My Blood, before the final season of the flagship series airs and then, hopefully,Blood of My Blood carries on the legacy through future seasons.

Starz’s much-anticipated Outlander prequel, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, will premiere this summer. The network dropped a 50-second teaser one day ahead of the season seven finale of Outlander.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood will “explore the lives and relationship of Claire’s parents, Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine), and Jamie’s parents, Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy). The series will center on these two parallel love stories set in two different time periods, with Jamie’s parents in the early 18th century Scottish Highlands and Claire’s parents in WWI England,” reads Starz’s synopsis. “From the battlefields of World War I to the rugged Highlands of 18th-century Scotland, two fated love stories must defy the forces that seek to tear them apart, intersecting in surprising and unforeseen ways.”

Starz has released a teaser for Outlander: Blood of My Blood, a prequel series to the time-traveling historical drama that will focus on the parents of Outlander’s main characters, Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe). The premium cabler also says the new series will premiere in the summer.

Outlander, meanwhile, closes out season seven Friday and has completed filming on its eighth and final season, though Starz hasn’t set a premiere date for it yet.

“Outlander” is making some big promises in the first teaser for its upcoming prequel series, “Blood of My Blood.” The romantic drama will premiere on Starz in the summer of 2025 and will be available on all platforms across the U.S. and Canada.

“I have decided to call you my hope,” actor Jeremy Irvine as Claire’s father Henry Beauchamp says to Julia Moriston (Hermoine Corfield).

Two least favorite characters from Outlander are set to appear in the upcoming prequel Blood of My Blood based on the latest image from the series. Shared by Outlander's official Instagram page, the new images showcase Dougal and Colum MacKenzie, a.k.a. Jamie’s uncles, who will be featured in the new series, which is yet to have a release date. The duo is well-known for their “imposing presences” at Castle Leoch during the early seasons of Outlander and were portrayed by Graham McTavish and Gary Lewis, respectively. In the latest round of reveals, Sadhbh Malin and Terence Rae join as Joscasta Cameron and Arch Bug, two characters who have made quite an impression on audiences over the flagship show’s run. As fans will recall, Jocasta is the feisty youngest child of the MacKenzie clan and sister to Jamie Fraser’s (Sam Heughan) mother, Ellen (Harriet Slater). The character is played by Maria Doyle Kennedy in the original series. Sally Messham, Alisa Davidson, Annabelle Dowler, and Harry Eaton (Phil Sharp; Callum Heinrich; Ori Jones; We Are Lumosia) Meanwhile, Hugh Ross plays Arch Bug in Outlander, and he memorably made a move to acquire the lost Jacobite gold that had been hidden under Fraser’s Ridge in Season 7 but lost his wife in the process.
