Pate Leone

Trivia

Pate Leone

Edit
  • Nephew and adopted son of pro wrestling legend "Haku" Tonga Fifita.
  • Cousin of fellow original Bullet Club member Bad Luck Fale (Toks Fale). Fale & Tama had been training together at the New Japan Pro Wrestling Dojo for several months, unaware of their extended family connection, until relatives alerted them to the fact, by commenting on a photo of the two posted on Facebook.
  • After he was turned down by WWE for a developmental deal in 2009, Pate signed with New Japan Pro Wrestling. When WWE later offered him a contract in January 2016 to come over with Gallows, Anderson, Nakamura & AJ Styles, Pate turned it down, opting instead to stay with New Japan Pro Wrestling for another two years.
  • Based his face paint design on Darth Nihilus, a character from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords (2004).
  • Was trained for professional wrestling by his father Tonga Fifita and Aldo Ortiz (Ricky Santana), before joining the Team 3D Wrestling Academy of Mark LoMonaco and Devon Hughes (a.k.a. The Dudley Boyz). Was turned down for a WWE developmental contract in 2009. He later wrestled as Tama Tonga for New Japan Pro Wrestling and for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) in Mexico.
  • Was the leading receiver in Osceola County, Florida during his senior year, scoring eight touchdowns. Later graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
  • Brother of professional wrestlers Tevita Fifita and Taula Koloamatangi.
  • Translated from Tongan to English, his birth name translates as Albert Aloysius Leon.
  • The first person of Tongan heritage to be portrayed in a Japanese anime cartoon series; Tiger Mask W (2016).
