Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn and Cord Jefferson’s American Fiction took home the top prizes in the inaugural Audience Awards at the 2023 Scad Savannah Film Festival.
The Savannah College of Art and Design (Scad) announced Tuesday the audience winners, which were selected by festival attendees, alongside the juried winners of the festival’s 26th annual iteration.
Oscar-winning Fennell’s Saltburn was the top pick, with the filmmaker appearing in-person to receive the Spotlight Director Award in front of a sold-out screening. American Fiction, the directorial debut of writer and producer Cord Jefferson, was the year’s runner-up and also appeared during the nearly two-week-long event, where he was honored with the Breakthrough Director Award.

New York, NY – The 22nd Tribeca Film Festival announced their Jury Prizes for 2023 on June 15th. Best U.S. Narrative was rewarded to “Cypher,” directed by Chris Moukarel, a narrative of rapper Tierra Whack. Best International Narrative goes to A Strange Path” and Best Documentary is “Between the Rains.”
“A Strange Path” (Dir: Guto Parente) is a Brazilian film concerning a filmmaker who returns home and encounters his estranged father. “Between the Rains” (Dir: Andrew H. Brown and Moses Thuranira) is a coming-of-age story that follows an orphan as he adapts to radically changing climate conditions in Northern Kenya.

The 2023 Tribeca Festival, presented by Okx, today announced its lineup of short narrative, documentary, and animated films, as well as music videos. The festival takes place June 7-18 and showcases 12 short film programs of diverse and creative storytelling. It’s also notable for showcasing a film by Francesca Scorsese, Martin Scorsese’s daughter, at a festival started, in part, by her father’s longtime collaborator Robert DeNiro.
The 2023 shorts lineup includes 76 total selections – 62 shorts in competition, eight music videos, and six special screening shorts – from 91 filmmakers across 25 countries. The lineup includes 48 world premieres, three international premieres, two North American premieres, one U.S. premiere, and 22 New York premieres.
