From Gotham to Emmy: ‘The Penguin’ composer Mick Giacchino heightens the tension and noir aesthetic
Image
When it came to creating the score for The Penguin, one of the first challenges was determining how to separate the music from The Batman, while also honoring that visionary work.

Composer Mick Giacchino took the challenge and earned his first Emmy nomination this year, for Best Music for a Limited Series for his work on The Penguin. He joined Gold Derby's Meet the Experts: TV Composers panel to discuss his work on the show. (Watch our full interview above.)

HBO Max’s The Penguin expands the gritty world of Gotham City introduced in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, with Colin Farrell reprising his role as the ruthless crime boss Oswald Cobblepot. 'I Did Get Nervous': Colin Farrell Feared The Penguin Was Going To Be Shut Down By The Studio
Image
The Penguinstar Colin Farrell opens up about his early worries that the show would never happen.

Speaking to Variety, Farrell was asked if there was ever a time when he was worried that The Penguin wouldn't actually go through production. "Yeah, a couple, like the during the strike," Farrell replied. "And in a world where they can make a Batgirl film and then just can it. I don't understand it, the debits and credits and ledgers and, fucking, all that stuff, but they can decide that it's economically advantageous to just shelve a $90 million film that people have put so much effort into it. You better believe it."

"When we were in the middle of the strike, I remember saying to my sister, 'I don't know if we're gonna go back to this. I don’t know if we’re gonna finish it.' I did get nervous," Farrell continued.

HBO boss shares optimistic The Penguin season 2 update
Image
On July 15, 2025, Emmy nominations were announced, highlighting the standout shows and performances of the year. HBO and Max led the pack with a record-breaking 142 nominations, including major nods for fan favorites like The Penguin (24 noms), The White Lotus (23 noms) and The Last of Us (16 noms). With those being such popular shows, it's no surprise that HBO/Max dominated the Emmy race.

Following the announcement, Variety got the opportunity to speak with HBO and Max content chief Casey Bloys, who shared his thoughts on the impressive achievement and the futures of some of the network’s most beloved series.

One particular series that he spoke on is The Penguin. When asked about the possibility of a second season, Bloys remained cautiously optimistic, explaining that while no official decision has been made, a new installment could definitely happen.

He further explained that there...

Critics’ Conversation: 2025 Emmy Nominations Take a Typically Shallow Dive Into TV’s Best
Image
Daniel Fienberg: Say what you will about Emmy voters, but when they like something, they Really like it.

My biggest takeaway, as I’m picking my way through the nominations for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, is how top-heavy the list is. Twenty-seven nominations for Severance! Twenty-four nominations for The Penguin! Twenty-three nominations apiece for The Studio and The White Lotus!

So many of these juggernauts received nominations so completely across the board — the dominance of White Lotus and Severance in the supporting categories is especially impressive — that I found myself more distracted by the standouts from those casts who didn’t get nominated than those who did. Where’s Rhenzy Feliz for The Penguin? Or Chase Sui Wonders for The Studio? Or Lisa from Blackpink for The White Lotus (or Carrie Coon’s vacation buddies, I suppose)?

It’s a myopia that leads to the consistent impression that...

Emmys Nominations Snubs: ‘Squid Game’ Shut Out, ‘Handmaid’s Tale’ Only Lands One Nod — Uzo Aduba Surprises
Image
The 2025 Emmy Awards failed to recognize a number of longtime favorites with nominations, with past winners Squid Game, Elisabeth Moss, Jon Hamm, Ted Danson and past nominees Yellowjackets and Selena Gomez not nominated this year.

Squid Game, which won six Emmys including the top prize of best drama actor for Lee Jung-jae for its first season in 2022, saw its second season completely absent from this year’s nominations. The hit Netflix series’ third and final season will be eligible for next year’s awards.

Similarly, The Handmaid’s Tale was once so adored by Emmy voters that it received multiple nominations in 2019 solely off of hanging episodes. The adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s best-selling novel of the same name, which won best drama series for its first season in 2017, only scored one nomination for Cherry Jones’ guest role, leaving out the rest of its acclaimed cast, including star Moss, who also...

‘The Penguin’ marches into Emmys with 24 nominations: Here’s every category it landed — and where it slipped
Image
The Penguin is waddling its way all the way to the Emmys. The HBO limited series racked up 24 Emmy nominations on Tuesday, including Best Limited Series and Best Movie/Limited Actor for Colin Farrell.

Here are the categories The Batman spin-off landed in — and the ones it missed.

Best Limited Series: Nominated

Throughout the winter awards circuit, The Penguin faced tough competition from Netflix's breakout hit Baby Reindeer, which swept the top prizes at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards after winning last year’s Emmy for Best Limited Series. However, the 2025 Emmys race has a fresh new batch of competitors. The Penguin is up against a trio of Netflix entries — Adolescence, Black Mirror, and Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story — as well as FX's Dying for Sex.

Image
In Hollywood, if leading men are the fire, then supporting actors are the oxygen that makes it burn brighter – and the Emmy Awards 2025 race proves it perfectly. Adding more to this excitement is the category for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or a Movie has quietly found itself at the center of attention this awards season. Featuring some of the biggest names in the industry, fans are absolutely thrilled to see who will pick up the award this year.

If we talk about last year, then it was actor Lamorne Morris who won the Emmy for his brilliant acting chops in Fargo. While his win was much deserved, this year viewers are hooked to the edge of their seats, as the pressure to see who will win is at an all-time high.

Colin Farrell Tells ‘The Penguin’ Co-Star Rhenzy Feliz: ‘You Had the Hardest Part, and You Were Extraordinary’
Image
Colin Farrell wanted to see how convincing his physical transformation was to play Oswald “Oz” Cobb for “The Penguin,” so he went out in public – to Starbucks.

“We went to a Starbucks when we did the first make-up test,” Farrell recently revealed at a FYC event for the HBO limited series. The actor is unrecognizable under prosthetics that pockmark his skin and completely change the shape of his chin and nose, along with a padded suit. He also put in his order using his character’s thick New York accent and walked with his signature limp.

“Nothing happened,” Farrell revealed. “I don’t know, I thought people might stare a bit more. We’re a bunch of starers.”

The actor adds that the first time he saw himself in the full makeup by prosthetics designer Mike Marino for the movie “The Batman,” he couldn’t stop staring. “You ever seen...

Colin Farrell Reveals Why The Penguin Season 2 Would Be 'More Difficult' to Pull Off
Image
Following a critically acclaimed first season that earned it recognition as one of the best HBO original shows in recent memory, The Penguin has a high bar to reach should a second season get greenlit. However, as The Batman spinoff's future hangs in the balance, its top star admits it will be "more difficult" for the crime drama to replicate its initial success, considering one significant development.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Farrell explained why The Penguin Season 2 would be a struggle to pull off following the major character death that occurred in the Season 1 finale. In the final episode of the first season, Farrell's Oz Cobb/Penguin kills his devoted right-hand man, Vic (Rhenzy Feliz), feeling it was a necessary evil due to Vic's most vulnerable traits giving his enemies an advantage, potentially thwarting his rise to prominence as Gotham's underground king. According to Farrell, it would be...

‘The Penguin’s’ Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti reveal the secrets behind their transformative performances (being huge Bat-fans helped)
Image
Colin Farrell found a novel way to test-drive the makeup devised for his portrayal of the sociopathic mobster Oz Cobb: He went to Starbucks in the elaborate regalia he’d ultimately disappear into to play The Penguin’s fowl felon.

"We went to a Starbucks when we did the first makeup test," Farrell revealed during an FYC panel for the HBO series, which spun off from the film The Batman, in which he initially played the role, clocking the coffee shop to gauge the reactions of his fellow customers to his foreboding, scar-pocked façade. "But nothing happened!" the actor confessed, adding that he also used the character's distinctive voice and shambling limp on the foray. "We're a bunch of starers — human beings stare if they see something different. But they just stared at their phones."

Still, moving about unnoticed in public was a victory in and of itself given the...

Clancy Brown, Joel McHale, and more actors who self-submitted at this year’s Emmys
Image
Networks and studios submit hundreds of actors for Emmy consideration each year, but those not officially entered can still self-submit for a chance at receiving a nomination. This year, that happened in droves.

Recognizable names like Clancy Brown (supporting actor for The Penguin) and Joel McHale (guest star on The Bear) were not on the studios' lists that were made public prior to the ballots being released on June 12. It's possible they were added later by the networks, or that the performers self-submitted. Note that Television Academy members get one free submission each year; otherwise, entry fees are based on several factors. Here is the fine print from the Emmys rulebook:

Individual achievement entries have a processing charge of $125 per submission. In addition to the $125 processing charge, each entrant is charged a $100 entry fee per individual listed on the entry, e.g., for an individual achievement entry with two entrants,...

‘The Penguin’ Season 2: Everything We Know So Far
Image
When The Penguin hit HBO, it didn’t just blend into the crowd — it strutted in with a thick Gotham accent and a trench coat full of secrets. A gritty spin-off from The Batman universe, the show zoomed in on Oz Cobb, the sneaky schemer better known as Penguin, and gave fans a front-row seat to his climb through Gotham’s shady crime world. Colin Farrell absolutely disappeared into the role, making the entire dark, bloody, and chaotic mess feel raw and addictive.

Season 1 had everything — betrayal, ambition, power plays — and viewers couldn’t look away. Even though the first season wrapped up last year, whispers about a second one just won’t stop. People want more — more Oz, more chaos, more Gotham. So far, HBO hasn’t confirmed anything, but speculation is alive and kicking. Whether it returns or not, The Penguin has definitely left its mark as one...

Ruthless Ending of ‘The Penguin’ Makes a Potential Season 2 “More Difficult,” Says Colin Farrell
Image
A frigid environment is befitting of a television show titled The Penguin, but the chilly conditions of its set had no bearing on the story being told. It was simply the manner in which series lead Colin Farrell preserved the three hours’ worth of prosthetic makeup needed to transform him into Oswald “The Penguin” Cobb.

“I was totally encased as Oz, and it was incredibly hot underneath all the prosthetics,” recalls Farrell.

Between the 2 pounds of silicone rubber fastened to his head and a 30-pound bodysuit, the Irish actor was constantly overheating while playing his ambitious Gotham City gangster. There was even a stretch in the winter of 2023 where the eight-episode HBO series’ New York City-area soundstage had the air conditioning cranked full blast, prompting the crew to don winter attire indoors. Eventually, the team set up a camping tent nicknamed “the Igloo” for Farrell to cool off in between setups and takes.

Colin Farrell Expertly Avoids Discussing One of The Penguin's Darkest Subplots
Image
Colin Farrell did an excellent job playing The Penguinin the HBO crime drama series of the same name. However, the actor recently avoided answering a question about a dark aspect of the story.

During an appearance on Variety Actors on Actors with Danny DeVito, Farrell seemed uncomfortable when DeVito stated that his Penguin from Batman Returns didn't have any brothers. "I'd rather not talk about [it]," he said. "It's a touchy point... That's a touchy point in the story accused of terrible things I didn't... had no part in at all" the actor added.

In HBO's The Penguin, a follow-up to Matt Reeves' The Batman starring Robert Pattinson, a young version of Farrell's titular villain is seen playing in the underground trolley system beneath Gotham City. When his brothers taunt him by hiding in an overflow tunnel that the young Oswald cannot reach, he takes out his frustrations by locking them inside.

How VFX Masters Brought to Life Mutilated Ancestors on ’The Last of Us’ and Pulled Off a Massive Flood on ‘The Penguin’
Image
Visual effects wizards have brought to life two of this season’s most buzzed about series. Here’s a look at their creative process that succeeded in making reel events look real.

The Penguin

The eight-episode HBO series involved 3,170 visual effects shots created with “grounded reality” in mind, from a group of VFX studios including Pixomondo, Screen Scene, Stormborn Studios, Frost FX and Dneg’s ReDefine division. The fully CG shot pictured above, is based on a real location; in the show, a massive bomb explodes, destroying a seawall and leading to flooding and tragedy. Explains VFX supervisor Johnny Han, “It was such a larger-than-life event — a giant explosion and a freeway collapses — but to try to make it relatable to the viewer, we were trying to make sure there are as many things in there that felt like that could have been [seen] on our way home from work that day — rush-hour traffic,...

The Penguin Season 2 is Back On the Table, And That's Not All
Image
HBO's The Penguinmight be getting a second season after all, along with what could be another The Batman spinoff series.

Speaking to Deadline, The Penguin executive producer and showrunner Lauren LeFranc responded to questions of a potential second season of the hit The Batman spinoff, saying that "Beyond Colin [Farrell], it depends on whether there's a story that we can make richer than what we've already done." LeFranc went on to promise that she "fully arced everything" in regards to The Penguin, and that she is currently "in the process of exploring what that would be, if there will be more" in terms of a Season 2.

The Penguin saw Colin Farrell reprise his role of Oswald "Oz" Cobb, aka the Penguin, from Matt Reeves' fan-favorite 2022 The Batman feature film starring Robert Pattinson. The series premiered in 2024, and immediately found a strong foothold with a fervent fan base. The Penguin features...

The Penguin Showrunner Shares Season 2 Update; Confirms More The Batman Spin-Offs Are In The Works
Image
The Penguin proved to be a big hit for HBO and Warner Bros./DC Studios, and was met with rare levels of acclaim and awards recognition for a comic book-based project. With this in mind, a second season would seem like a foregone conclusion, but The Penguin happens to find itself in an unusual position.

Now officially listed as a limited series, The Penguin serves as a set-up for Matt Reeves' The Batman sequel, which we haven't had any official updates on in quite a while. Reports indicate that the movie's script hasn't even been completed yet, which likely hinders any potential movement on The Penguin season 2.

There's also the question of whether star Colin Farrell will even want to return as Oz Cobb. Though the actor is expected to appear in The Batman sequel, he didn't sound too overjoyed at the prospect of donning the prosthetics again during a 2024 interview.

It Starts On The Page (Limited): Read ‘The Penguin’ Finale Script “A Great Or Little Thing” With Foreword By Lauren LeFranc
Image
Editor’s note: Deadline’s It Starts on the Page (Limited) features 10 standout limited or anthology series scripts in 2025 Emmy contention.

The Penguin developer-showrunner Lauren LeFranc delivered two gut punches in the finale of the HBO limited series based on the DC Comics character Oz Cobb aka The Penguin. After establishing that Oz (Colin Farrell) had finally found a trusted partner in Victor (Rhenzy Feliz), LeFranc did the unthinkable and had the Penguin strangle his young charge to death. Oz then managed to get his nemesis Sofia (Cristin Milioti) committed back to Arkham in the episode, titled “A Great or Little Thing,” written by LeFranc and directed by Jennifer Getzinger.

In her intro to the finale script, LeFranc explains how she had planned these two shockers before she sat down to write the first episode and how one of them was among the two scenes in the closer that proved most difficult to write.

Josh O’Connor Says ‘There’s a Kindness’ to Working With ‘Mastermind’ Director Kelly Reichardt and Responds to Paul Mescal Calling Him ‘Silly’: ‘I Am’
Image
Josh O’Connor heaped praise on his “The Mastermind” director Kelly Reichardt during the film’s Cannes press conference on Saturday, saying “there’s a kindness” to working with her “which you don’t often get.”

“I don’t know that I was necessarily aware of it at the time but there is something in working with Kelly,” O’Connor said. “There’s a kindness to working with Kelly which you don’t often get. I find that really informs a performance.”

“The Mastermind,” a subdued, ’70s-set film starring O’Connor as an art thief on the run and Alana Haim as his wife, earned a 5.5-minute standing ovation at its premiere on Thursday night. Earlier in the press conference, O’Connor said that he’d been “a big follower of Kelly’s films” before signing onto the project and was drawn to his character due to his “ordinary” nature.

Josh O’Connor Lights Up Cannes With ‘The Mastermind’ World Premiere

In the end, Josh O’Connor made it to Cannes.

The La Chimera and Challengers actor was unable to make the Wednesday evening premiere of Oliver Hermanus’ The History of Sound, in which he stars alongside Paul Mescal, as he was still shooting in New York, working on Steven Spielberg’s new film. But O’Connor was given time away from the as-yet-untitled sci-fi project and caught a flight to Cannes Thursday night, meaning he was fresh and ready for Friday’s red carpet premiere of Kelly Reichardt’s The Mastermind.

Reichardt and O’Connor walked the carpet, joined by castmembers Alana Haim, John Magaro and Hope Davis.

Others in attendance included Viola Davis, strolling along in a stunning yellow gown, with husband Julius Tennon; Elle Fanning, a day after her red carpet premiere for Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value; and Isabella Ferrari. How to Have Sex director Molly Manning Walker,...

Josh O’Connor Art Heist Film ‘The Mastermind’ Steals 5.5-Minute Cannes Ovation as Director Kelly Reichardt Says ‘America Is in a Ditch Right Now’
Image
Kelly Reichardt’s latest film “The Mastermind,” starring Josh O’Connor as an art thief on the run, earned a 5.5-minute standing ovation at its Cannes premiere on Friday night.

Reichardt’s subdued, ‘70s-set movie was essentially a one-man show for O’Connor, with him appearing in nearly every scene. Haim plays his quiet wife, who is aware of his husband’s schemes but leaves with their twin boys once the cops start tracking him down.

In tears, Reichardt humbly accepted the applause, but as the standing and clapping went on and on, she seemed eager to take the mic and get on with her remarks. She poignantly told the crowd, “America’s in a ditch right now, but maybe we’ll get out of it. But in the meantime we have the movies.”

Though the film doesn’t have an outwardly strong political message, it’s set against the backdrop of the Vietnam War,...

HBO Just Killed DC Fans' Hopes For the Penguin Season 2
Image
HBO's The Penguinseries gets an unfortunate update in one of the worst ways possible.

Per Deadline, HBO has officially announced their slate of Emmy Award nominations for The Penguin. While these include obvious picks such as Colin Farrell for Best Actor and Cristin Milioti for Best Actress, the fact thatThe Penguin has been listed as a "limited series" rather than "ongoing" gives many fans cause for concern. Between this and the recent spate of production woes, it seems as though HBO's Emmy nominations also serve as a quiet confirmation that The Penguin will not be getting a second season.

A spinoff of director Matt Reeves' critically acclaimed The Batman feature film, The Penguin stars Farrell in a reprisal of his iconic role of Oswald "Oz" Cobb, better known as the series' titular Penguin. The Penguin also features a star-studded ensemble cast including Milioti as Sofia Gigante (formerly Falcone), Rhenzy Feliz as Victor "Vic" Aguilar,...

The Penguin's Emmy category submissions casts doubt on season 2 hopes
Image
The Penguin is entering the Emmy Awards as a limited series leaving fans wondering if a second season will ever happen. Would HBO submit a show for consideration in the limited series category if it's getting a season 2? Well, reassuringly, it has before.

A limited series entry doesn’t always mean a one-season wonder. Remember The White Lotus started as a limited series before its popularity led to further seasons, and Shogun was commissioned for a sophomore season after its success. Big Little Lies, also, won the Outstanding Limited Series Emmy Award and then had a second season (although perhaps it shouldn't have).

Colin Farrell will vie for Best Actor for playing Oswald “Oz’ Cobb while Cristin Milioti will enter the Best Actress category for her role as Sofia Falcone. Rhenzy Feliz, who played Oz’s right-hand man Victor, will enter the Supporting Actor category, while Deirdre O’Connell, who played Oz’s mom Francis,...

Warner Bros. 'officially confirms' the fate of The Penguin

Fans of The Penguin have spent the past few months wondering if a second season of the show is happening and it appears that Warner Bros. has given its most definitive confirmation that is isn't.

The DC TV show was one of the biggest success stories of 2024. The Colin Farrell-led series is a spinoff of Matt Reeves' The Batman, designed to bridge the gap between the 2022 film and its upcoming sequel, but it quickly became a formidable entity of its own. The show earned critical acclaim while also proving itself to be a strong performer for HBO and the Max streaming service, which led to the understandable questions about whether the show - once considered a miniseries - could evolve into a more linear TV series with multiple seasons.

Despite some initially promising responses from the cast and crew about the show's future, it appears that The Penguin season 2 won't happen after all.

‘The Penguin’ Emmy submissions: Colin Farrell aims to complete his awards sweep after Golden Globe, Critics Choice, SAG victories
Image
HBO will submit four cast members from The Penguin for Emmy consideration, Gold Derby has confirmed.

Colin Farrell as Oswald "Oz" Cobb, aka the Penguin, is entering the Best Movie/Limited Series Actor category, as expected. Earlier this awards season, the Irish actor prevailed at the Golden Globes, Critics Choice, and Screen Actors Guild Awards for playing the villainous DC Comics character. A victory at the Emmys would complete his sweep of top awards. A former Oscar nominee for The Banshees of Inisherin (2022), this would be his first career Emmy bid.

Cristin Milioti as Sofia Gigante (née Falcone) is being submitted for Best Movie/Limited Series Actress. She won the Critics Choice Award for this role, but lost at the Golden Globes to Jodie Foster (True Detective: Night Country) and at the SAG Awards to Jessica Gunning (Baby Reindeer). Milioti could receive her first two career Emmy noms this year,...

'The Penguin' Season 2 Fate in the Air After Submitting as Limited Series for Emmys
Image
As the fate of The Penguin Season 2 hangs in the balance, it seems HBO just made a big decision that could indicate the future of the DC drama. The Batman spin-off was a resounding success for the network, pulling in nominations left and right the past few months (including a Golden Globe win under its belt). Despite HBO reportedly working on The Penguin Season 2, they will continue to campaign in the Limited Series category.

Per Deadline, HBO is planning on submitting The Penguin in the Outstanding Limited Series category at the Emmy Awards. As expected, Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti will be in the running for Best Actor and Best Actress, respectively, in the Limited Series categories. Supporting actors Rhenzy Feliz and Deirdre O’ Connell will also enter the Emmy race for their respective roles as Victor and Francis. Meanwhile, series creator Lauren LeFranc will be submitted for scripting the award-winning DC series.

Composer Mick Giacchino became the bridge between Matt Reeves’ The Batman and the HBO | Max series The Penguin.

Giacchino scored the Batmobile chase from the film, and at Deadline’s Sound & Screen Television event he performed a medley of four themes used in the series.

“Scherzo for a Flightless Bird (The Penguin Theme)” was the first theme Giacchino wrote for the series after a solo violin request from the showrunner.

Mick Giacchino conducting at Deadline’s Sound & Screen Television Jc Olivera/Deadline

“I wrote this violin solo that ended up becoming the ‘Scherzo’,” Giacchino said about creating the theme for Colin Farrell’s Oz Cobb. “I started adding more. It brought out the quartet and, I created a trash percussion drum kit that we actually have on the stage, over in the corner, but just made out of metal trash cans and buckets, to try to get a little bit...

First Look at 'Challengers' Star's Vietnam War Heist Movie Revealed

Heists and war movies are two of the most popular genres in cinema history. So, what happens when you mix them together, and throw in Challengers star Josh O'Connor for good measure? You get The Mastermind, the new movie directed by Kelly Reichardt (First Cow). The film is set to make its debut at this year's Cannes Film Festival (which takes place from May 13 to 24), and the first look at the Vietnam War heist film has just been released.

Josh O’Connor Is a Sullen ’70s Art Thief in Kelly Reichardt’s ‘The Mastermind’ First Look
Image
It will be a challenge to find a 2025 film that Josh O’Connor is not in. The “Challengers” breakout star is leading the third “Knives Out” feature (all we know is that he’s playing a priest), plus is starring alongside Paul Mescal in “The History Of Sound” and will be in Steven Spielberg’s next project about UFOs. First, though, O’Connor is starring in Kelly Reichardt’s latest, “The Mastermind.”

The film will debut in competition at Cannes. Oliver Hermanus’ “The History Of Sound” will also be in the main competition so O’Connor has two shots at being in a Palme d’Or winner this year.

For “The Mastermind,” O’Connor plays Jb Mooney, an unemployed carpenter who becomes an aspiring amateur art thief. The only issue is that Jb’s first big heist goes haywire, leading him to confront his life choices. The film is set in rural Massachusetts in the 1970s.

The Last of Us season 2 episode 2 just continued a shocking HBO legacy
Image
Warning: major spoilers for The Last of Us ahead

We always knew this day was coming, and even those who hadn’t played 2020’s The Last of Us Part II might’ve had it spoiled that HBO’s live-action adaptation was bracing for a major character departure in season 2. The first season was led by the dynamic duo of Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal, but moving forward into the rest of season 2 and the recently confirmed season 3, things will never be the same again in the world of The Last of Us.

Although the question of Joel Miller’s (Pascal) death was never in doubt for most fans of the games, it was simply a matter of when showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann would bite the bullet (and Joel would bite the wrong end of a golf club). Just two episodes into season 2 and The Last of Us has...

The Penguin Season 2 Gets Discouraging Update From DC Studios
Image
HBO's The Penguin continues to find success during awards season, with its stars Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti racking up numerous wins and nominations. However, despite the spin-off series' overwhelming critical and viewership success, DC Studios CEOs Peter Safran and James Gunn recently provided a somewhat disappointing update on the show's future, confirming they aren't sure whether to pursue The Penguin Season 2.

In an interview with Variety, Safran and Gunn provided tons of updates concerning the many future projects planned for the DC Universe, including HBO's The Penguin. Though the show was intended as a miniseries, The Penguin surpassed all expectations both critically and in terms of viewership, which has led to speculation that Oswald Cobb's story could continue on for at least one more season. However, Safran and Gunn recently revealed that they aren't so sure that will happen yet.
