Timo Antila

Born on 22 September 1980 in Jurva, Finland, Timo Antila is a former biathlete. His first year in biathlon was 1990 and he appeared in the World Cup in 2000. Antila's best overall finish is 50th in the 2003-2004 season. At the 2001 World Championships in Pokljuka, he came 5th in the relay, 36th in the sprint and 43rd in the pursuit. That stayed his best career World Championships in spite of the fact that he competed in such events until 2012. Antila made a good positioning, 19th in the sprint in Salt Lake City while testing the Olympic track in 2001. One year later at the 2002 Olympic his performance was 41st in the Individual, 19th in the sprint, 32nd in the pursuit and 12th with the relay team. Timo Antila managed to place 7 times in the Top 30 in the sprint discipline. He finished 14th in Ruhpolding during the 2003-2004 season, 18th in Oberhof in 2007-2008, 19th in Salt Lake City in 2001-2002, 20th in Antholz-Anterselva in 2003-2004 and three times 22nd in Hochfilzen and Pyeongchang in 2007-2008 and in Beitostølen in 2004-2005. Anila achieved 3 good placings in the Individual discipline during his career. He was 17th in Pokljuka in 2001-2002, 20th in Antholz-Anterselva in 2003-2004 and 21st in Östersund in 2006-2007. Sadly Antila never took part in the 15 km mass start discipline which is only for the Top 30 biathlete in the overall ranking during each season. He participated in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, which were his last. Finished 56th in the Individual, 40th in the sprint and 52nd in the pursuit. After the Games, Timo Antila retired from the sport. He is married and has one son, named Onni born in 2009.
