‘Strangelove’ Creator Jorge Xolalpa Signs With Posh Talent Agency
Image
Exclusive: Strangelove creator Jorge Xolalpa has signed with Posh Talent Agency for commercial and theatrical representation.

The Mexican-American filmmaker is known as the creator of Prime Video queer Latino comedy-drama series Strangelove, which has been dubbed by critics as “The Latinx Sex and the City” thanks to its sharp wit, unapologetic exploration of love and identity, and on-screen representation.

He’ll next be directing Huehxolotl, an intense immigration thriller that unfolds in the heart of Los Angeles, shedding light on illegal deportations happening across the United States. It stars Maya Zapata, Elyfer Torres, Katherine Castro and Alexander James Rodriguez, and follows an undocumented Mexican woman and restaurant owner whose asylum petition is denied, leaving her with just 30 days to self-deport.

Pic is currently in pre-production and slated to begin filming in the summer 2025. Xolalpa and Alfredo Widman at Mighty Aphrodite Pictures are producing with finance from Nyta Film Group, as we revealed in March.

SAG-aftra Rallies For First Contract With Spanish Broadcasting System
Gabrielle Carteris
Updated with more quotes: Roughly 200 SAG-aftra members and staff rallied today outside the Los Angeles offices of the Spanish Broadcasting System – the union’s latest gambit in its three-year-long campaign to secure a first-ever contract at the network’s Spanish-language radio stations La Raza and Mega.

“We’re here fighting for Sbs workers who have been denied a right for a fair contract,” SAG-aftra president Gabrielle Carteris said at the event. “We have been negotiating with them for 3 1/2 years, and every time, they have come to the bargaining table in bad faith. It’s time for Sbs to step up and negotiate.”

David White, SAG-aftra’s national executive director, accused Sbs of having “violated the law again and again,” telling the cheering crowd, “We are here to tell Sbs, ‘No longer!’”

Said Patricia Richardson, president of SAG-aftra’s Los Angeles local: “We support these Sbs workers, who are only asking...
