Gal Gadot Joins Noa Tishby for Final #BringOnTheLight Hanukkah Celebration | Exclusive
Image
It is hard to beat celebrating the final night of Hanukkah with “Wonder Woman” — but that is exactly what Noa Tishby is doing on Wednesday, with Gal Gadot lighting the menorah alongside the best-selling author as she concludes her #BringOnTheLight campaign.

The campaign aims to highlight both the joy and resilience that have sustained the Jewish people for thousands of years.

Watch it below:

Gadot follows a number of other stars who have already celebrated the holiday this year with Tishby. The series kicked off with Gwyneth Paltrow lighting the menorah on the first night of Hanukkah, before Mila Kunis, Mayim Bialik, Iliza Shlesinger, Van Jones, Cindy Crawford, and Tiffany Haddish followed suit on the following six nights.

Tishby bonded with Gadot and her husband, Jaron Varsano, over the different ways in which they celebrate Hanukkah now in the States compared to how they did previously in Israel, Gadot’s homeland.

Chicago Pd Season 12 Episode 2 Review: Blood Bleeds Blue
Image
The comedown from the adrenaline-fueled Chicago Pd Season 12 Episode 2 is an experience all on its own.

Following mere seconds after the shocking Chicago Pd Season 12 Episode 1, the hour sets an unrelenting pace.

It doesn’t slow down for a second until the credits roll, leaving Ruzek and the audience to process everything that’s transpired.

(Lori Allen/NBC)

And there’s a lot to process as Chicago Pd delivers one of the strongest installments in the series.

Chicago Pd Season 12 Episode 2 is a Relentless Hour

It’s no joke when we speculate that the series feels like it’s having a renaissance, a soft reset that centers not only on the characters and this unique unit we love but also on what they do best and how they execute it.

It’s early yet, but Chicago Pd Season 12 genuinely wants to honor its characters.

Bad Monkey Season Premiere Review: Vince Vaughn Brings The Laughs, Gasps, and Middle Fingers
Image
Vince Vaughn is back at it again in the latest dark humor comedy-drama from Apple TV+, Bad Monkey.

As viewers might have expected, the series has a monkey, but much like the story, it’s for whimsical and comical reasons.

Based on Carl Hiaasen’s 2013 novel of the same name, Bad Monkey is another Apple TV+ project developed from a published story.

(Courtesy of Apple TV+)

While that gives a series a leg-up by having a fully developed story to work with, that doesn’t mean the series is a sure-fire hit.

Bad Monkey has a lot going for it, but is it enough to overshadow certain aspects that don’t work?

Russell Crowe Reveals The Noble Reason He Turned Down Lord Of The Rings After Calling Peter Jackson
Image
Russell Crowe reveals why he turned down a role in The Lord of the Rings. Serving as adaptations of the books by J.R.R. Tolkien director Peter Jackson's hit fantasy trilogy was released from 2001 to 2003, chronicling Frodo's (Elijah Wood) epic quest to destroy the One Ring. The Lord of the Rings cast is a major reason why the movies work so well, but it's become common knowledge in the decades since the films' release that various other actors were almost cast for key roles, including Crowe as Aragorn, a role that eventually went to Viggo Mortensen.

In a recent segment for British GQ, Crowe is asked on social media whether he regrets turning down The Lord of the Rings.

Crowe makes clear that it's not a decision he regrets, and explains that he didn't take the job because he had a feeling he wasn't Jackson's top choice. Check out...

2 Lord Of The Rings Extended Re-Releases Round Out Top 10 Box Office Chart
Image
Fathom Events is re-releasing the Lord of the Rings trilogy in 4K extended editions throughout June. The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers have both landed in the domestic box office Top 10 for the weekend. The movies are performing well, though they have hardly made a dent in the box office totals of their original runs.

Two Lord of the Rings movies have landed in the domestic box office Top 10. The trilogy, which was adapted from the iconic fantasy novels of the same name by J.R.R. Tolkien, was released between 2001 and 2003 to overwhelming critical and commercial success. They were followed by a trilogy of live-action movies adapting Tokien's prequel The Hobbit between 2012 and 2014. In recent years, the Lord of the Rings franchise has picked up steam once more with the 2022 premiere of Prime Video's The Rings of Power and the upcoming 2024 animated movie The War of the Rohirrim.

Tales of Kenzera: Zau Preview: "Plays As Good As It Looks"
Image
Quick Links Devil May Cry Meets Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night The Other Stuff Is Good, Too

As the first game from Surgent Studios, Tales of Kenzera: Zau looks to not only create a new universe for future art to take place in, but also serve as a love letter to Metroidvanias, African culture, and the very act of grieving for deceased loved ones. It's a gorgeous, fully realized world steeped in double meanings, vivid colors, and incredible music. For anyone who has lost a parent, it also hits incredibly close to home.

A demo for Tales of Kenzera: Zau released during Steam Next Fest earlier this year, and unlike some limited-time demos which were available during the event, this one is still available to download now. If you're at all on the fence about the game, I'd highly recommend doing so, as it provides an excellent look at the package on offer.

What Happened to Thorin's Company After The Hobbit, Explained
Image
The adventures of Thorin's Company did not end after The Hobbit. Only one living Dwarf from Thorin's Company appeared in The Lord of the Rings. J. R. R. Tolkien left the fates of many Dwarves a mystery, but he provided some clues about what they did during the War of the Ring.

In J. R. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins joined Thorin II Oakenshield and his Company of Dwarves on their quest to reclaim their ancestral home of Erebor. The Dwarves had abandoned the kingdom after the great dragon Smaug took up residence in the Lonely Mountain. While the future king Thorin was the most important of the Dwarves, they all had significant parts to play in the story, and Bilbo became close friends with them. Their mission was successful, but three of these Dwarves — namely Thorin and his nephews, Fíli and Kíli — died during the Battle of the...

This Tiny Hobbit Movie Detail Made A Lord Of The Rings Tragedy Even More Upsetting
Image
The Hobbit movies, while generally lighthearted, contain dark allusions and references to the more serious Lord of The Rings films. Ori, a character from The Hobbit, meets a tragic fate in the Mines of Moria as revealed in The Fellowship of The Ring. The film subtly confirms Ori's fate by having him wear the same costume as the skeleton found clutching the book in which Ori's last entry is written.

The care and attention that went into forging a connection between The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit movies manifest in the sad reminder of one character’s fate. The intricate lore of the Lord of The Rings universe is filled with details that fill in timeline gaps, resolve plot holes, and expand character histories. However, not all of these details are comforting ones. Among the grimmer aspects of the Lord of The Rings’ lore is the fate of...

Why Ori Basly Is The True Villain Of Jewish Matchmaking Season 1
Image
Ori Basly is the breakout star of the new Netflix series Jewish Matchmaking, and he's turning out to be the season's villain. The Los Angeles native sought help from matchmaker Aleeza Ben Shalom to find his future wife, but his journey on the show definitely had bumps in the road. Through many consultations with Aleeza and his various dates with potential matches, Ori showed that he's a true villain on the show.

Right off the bat, Ori had a lot of criteria upon his first meeting with Aleeza on Jewish Matchmaking. The event planner wanted to find the perfect woman for himself, one who had blonde hair and blue eyes, was family-oriented, not kosher, Israeli, and spoke Hebrew. As Ori got deeper into the matchmaking process, his requirements became even harder for Aleeza to fulfill. To top it all off, he needed his mother's approval for whomever Aleeza picked for him to date.

Jewish Matchmaking: Are Ori Basly & Karin Lang Still Together?
Image
Netflix's newest matchmaking series, Jewish Matchmaking, gives viewers a look into the lives of Jewish singles like Ori Basly and Karin Lang, who are looking for love with the help of matchmaker, Aleeza Ben Shalom. While matchmaking may seem like an old-fashioned concept, with the rise of dating apps and non-traditional "meet cutes," many are falling back on matchmakers to find people they can get serious with. For Aleeza, who specializes in matchmaking among members of the Jewish faith in several parts of the US, helping someone find a match who understands and shares their values is a top priority.

Much like the Netflix series Indian Matchmaking, throughout the season, Aleeza introduces her clients to several options, facilitating dates between singles like Ori and Karin. Ori, whom viewers first meet early in the season, is a 30-year-old event planner. He is originally from Israel, and is shown having a close-knit relationship with his mother,...

‘Jewish Matchmaking’ Could’ve Been a Shanda. But It’s Smart and Sweet
Image
There’s a saying in the Jewish community that certain things are bad for the Jews. The list largely includes people with a great deal of power and money who use it for nefarious ends: Bernie Madoff, Jeffrey Epstein, Woody Allen. (Other things that are arguably not-so-great for the Jews: Einstein’s Bagels; virtually any male character from a Noah Baumbach film; and the fact that the only Jewish character in The Babysitters’ Club series is a whiny curly-haired girl with allergies.)

I had assumed that Jewish Matchmaking, Netflix’s new dating show,...

Why Jonas' Stargate Sg-1 Role Was So Brief (Did He Die?)
Image
Jonas Quinn was a big part of Stargate Sg-1 for exactly one season, so why was his stint so brief? 1994 sci-fi movie Stargate seemed primed to spawn sequels, but instead, its spinoff Sg-1 became one of the most popular sci-fi shows of the late '90s and early '00s. This switch worked for the best, considering the titular gateway opened up a wealth of storytelling possibilities for a series to explore. The show couldn't afford the VFX and scope of its big-screen predecessor, but thanks to the chemistry of the main cast - Richard Dean Anderson, Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge and Michael Shanks - it built a devoted following.

Even when Stargate Sg-1 received spinoffs like Atlantis or Universe, it was hard to beat the original team. Like any long-running series, Sg-1 saw some big casting shakeups, including Anderson reducing the size of his role for the final two seasons.
