This week’s slow burn goes to Lily and Cane on The Young and the Restless. They’re bound to get back together. The writing is in the stars for these two exes. Lily admitted that she doesn’t trust Cane and she can’t forgive him for all that happened. However, she will likely warm up to him, but only if he’s willing to better himself.

Is There a Chance?

Cane (Billy Flynn) disguised himself as Aristotle Dumas, only to reveal himself once his guests arrived at his French estate. Of course, Lily (Christel Khalil) was the first to find out. Cane revealed that he’s been trying to acquire everyone’s real estate and businesses in Genoa City. He’s been keeping a close eye on them ever since he left in 2019.

Now, Cane has blood on his hands.

Chance’s death remains a hot topic within The Young and the Restless community. Fans are still upset that the show killed off the Genoa City detective. But their anger has increased in the aftermath of Chance’s passing.

Disrespect For Chance

It’s been two weeks since Chance’s (Conner Floyd) death. The detective was gunned down by Carter (Vincent Stalba) during a showdown at Cane’s (Billy Flynn) chateau. With Chance, a legacy character and a well-respected member of Genoa City, one would assume there’d be a big memorial for him.

Well, there was, but just not onscreen.

On the August 14th episode, Christine (Lauralee Bell) revealed details about Chance’s offscreen funeral. According to what was said, Chance’s memorial took place in Los Angeles, where his mother, Nina (Tricia Cast), now lives. Chance’s grandmother, Jill (Jess Walton), was among the guests at the service.

Many leading characters have had the honor of being Genoa City’s top detective. Paul (Doug Davidson) is the most famous and he kept the town safe for decades until his retirement and departure. Then there was Rey (Jordi Vilasuso), who sadly passed away in 2022.

In other fun news, Bryton James, who plays Devon Hamilton-Winters, is ditching Genoa City during the week of August 4-8 and heading to Fairmont Crest.

The actor is doing a crossover storyline on the new CBS soap, Beyond the Gates, which will be a first for the new daytime drama.

He ended up killing Damian (Jermaine Rivers) and tried to frame Nick (Joshua Morrow) for the murder. Somehow, Chance (Conner Floyd), got caught in the crossfire and was murdered. Then, Carter expressed immense regret over what he did. He saw that Cane was upset with him for creating this murder bloodbath.

After all, that steamy kiss they shared while he was dealing with his injury during their hostage crisis will create a sticky situation.

Unfortunately, while Shick fans were happy to see it, Nick will fear he had made a mistake in the moment. It sounds like a Shick reunion won’t be as smooth as some Y&r viewers may think.

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) life was saved by Sharon Newman (Sharon Case). He likely would have died if she hadn’t been with Nick when Cane Ashby’s (Billy Flynn) enforcer gashed his abdomen.

Thankfully, she neutralized the goon with a bash to his head while he was attacking Nick. Sharon also ran to the maze and found Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson), who brought in Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope).

Together, the trio stabilized Nick and got him the medical attention he needed. Longtime fans who’ve wanted Nick and Sharon to reconcile were also thrilled when he offered Sharon a kiss. It appeared to project more than gratitude.

Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Claire (Hayley Erin) couldn’t be anymore happier to see each other. However, that could quickly change. Audra (Zuleyka Silver) is still out for blood. She doesn’t like losing. She could plan something even more sinister that could tear apart the star-crossed lovers. She knows that Victor (Eric Braeden) doesn’t want his granddaughter with Kyle. And he still has a shiny prize to give away. So Audra will work even harder to break them up in order to get what she wants.

The maze mystery is finally over. Carter was behind the murders in Nice. Most of the scenes were gruesome and brutal to witness. Despite the seriousness of this drama, the cast of The Young and the Restless managed to have fun behind the scenes. Some of them had a little too much fun.

The official Y&r Instagram account shared a fun Reel of the cast showing off their resortwear looks. However, most of them got into hijinks in the maze. Maybe it’s because they’ve watched Kyle screw up over and over and over again, then come crying to his Mommy and Daddy, demanding they fix his screw-up… and then denied he’d ever screwed up. It’s what he’d meant to do all along.

For a few days, Diane and Jack were too busy being horrified...

The Y&r death toll started on July 3 with Cole’s (J. Eddie Peck) passing. The writer had been battling health issues, which led to his hospitalization. Despite trying to remain optimistic, Cole knew his time was ending. He shared a sweet and final goodbye with Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Claire (Hayley Erin) before succumbing to his illness.

Damian (Jermaine Rivers) was the next character to bite the big one. He was drinking whiskey and talking with Cane (Billy Flynn) when he was killed by a knife to the back. Damian was the first casualty of the France trip, launching a murder mystery.

The bad news is that Connor Floyd officially exited The Young and the Restless (Y&r) during the Monday, July 28 show when his character, Chance Chancellor, was killed after an explosive showdown with Cane Ashby’s (Billy Flynn) psychotic, yet loyal, assistant, Carter (Vincent Stalba).

With that said, the good news is, Floyd is heading to Days of Our Lives (Dool) and will be seen to soapy viewers as of April 2026 (because the show films several months ahead of time), as the Chad Dimera recast. The even better news is that Floyd posted a highly entertaining video on social media bidding adieu to the CBS soap, shortly after his final episode aired.

Connor Floyd’s ‘Goodbye’ Ig Post

Posted to the Beastie Boys, “B-Boys Makin’ With The Freak Freak”, as background music, Floyd’s video started with a selfie-like pose, as the actor, curiously, looked into the camera and ‘wiped’ the lens.

Conner Floyd checked out of CBS’s The Young and the Restless on 28 July 2025, concluding his tenure as Detective Phillip “Chance” Chancellor IV after nearly four years on the daytime drama. The episode closed with Chance taking a fatal bullet while attempting to disarm gunman Carter during a hostage standoff in France, a storyline decision that permanently removed the Chancellor heir from Genoa City.

Floyd assumed the role in November 2021, replacing Donny Boaz and becoming the twelfth actor to play the character since his 1988 introduction. On Instagram he posted a behind the scenes montage, calling the experience “a blessing” and signing off with “Detective Chancellor, over and out.” Viewers voiced anger across social platforms, arguing that eliminating the last member of the Chancellor dynasty undermines the soap’s history.
