- Alexis K. Owens is an American actress, cinematographer, journalist, and television producer. She is known for her work in "Grief" (2022), "Adiyah Grace" (2022), "Her Happy Place" (2020), and "LeVelle Moton Presents: The Connect" (2020).
Her career began with modeling for local magazines and boutiques, which eventually led her to acting. At the age of 17, she signed with her first talent agency, starting her background acting work in the NBC television series "Revolution" (2012) and the Swirl Films production "Frat Brothers" (2013). During this time, she networked with independent film directors in her local area.
On Thanksgiving Day in 2013, a family member who believed in Alexis's journey arranged for her to meet Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali. After hours of conversation, Ali encouraged her to use education as a pathway into acting. Inspired by this advice, she pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications, focusing on Broadcast Media.
Eager to explore various aspects of the industry, Alexis developed a newfound passion for directing and producing. She created a student-led digital media show called "The Grid Exclusive" (TGE), where she interviewed prominent figures such as White House Correspondent April D. Ryan, rapper Clifford "T.I." Harris, CNN political commentator Angela Rye, and N.C. Central Men's Basketball coach LeVelle Moton. Following a successful interview with Moton on TGE, he invited her to host his pilot show, "The Connect" (2020), which featured rapper and activist David Banner and Grammy Award-winning music producer 9th Wonder, airing on PBS.
Alexis is excited to continue her journey, aiming to inspire others through her art. She hopes to use her acting as a tool for representation of young Black women in film and to serve others through storytelling.- IMDb mini biography by: Public Relations
