Biography

"Life is just like a Dance: It's not about how many steps you do or don't know. It is about how much you appreciate the ones you take and those who you take them with." Artur Lago-Varjapetian. While witnessing a collapse of his native country torn by a civil unrest and hearing the stories of holocaust and genocide from his grandparents as a child, Artur Lago-Varjapetian experienced the power of dance, humor, and storytelling to inspire, heal, and uplift people. At age of twenty-one, Artur won a green card lottery and took a chance to move to the United States of America. With $2000 and his passion for dance and theater, Artur started his American journey. Picking up part time jobs while learning English at Evans Adult School, Artur managed to earn educational scholarships and receive his AA in Dance and Liberal Arts from Santa Monica College. In Spring of 2015, after 6 years of magic and madness, he finally received his BFA in Dance and Theater from CSULB where, thanks to Gregory R.R. Crosby, Artur developed a strong interest in filmmaking. Since 2015, Artur has collaborated as a producer, writer, director, and actor on multiple short and feature projects. He has also been privileged to serve as a mentor for Inner City Shakespeare Ensemble established by Dr. Melanie Andrews to educate and inspire a new generation of artists. Since 2020, Artur has already served as a guest dance coach and an assistant choreographer for the Claremont Colleges Ballroom Dance Company.
