It's been three years since Netflix released the hit South Korean horror series, All of Us Are Dead. Based on the original webcomic of the same name by Joo Dong-geun, the Webtoon series became a massive hit, debuting at #1 on Netflix Top 10 Non-English Shows and staying on the charts for 11 weeks. It wasn't long before Season 2 was greenlit. Although a release date has yet to be announced, Netflix has revealed that Season 2 has finally entered production, and we now know what happens next for our survivors.
According to the Season 2 plot synopsis, the show will take place years later, as Nam On-jo (Park Ji-hu) is now a university student in Seoul, South Korea, trying to move on from the trauma she faced during the outbreak at Hyosan High. Unfortunately, a new wave of infection hits the major city, and she has to fight for survival once again, but this time she's on her own.

Released in 2022, All of Us Are Dead quickly became one of the hottest horror shows on Netflix, amassing 474.26 million hours viewed in its first 30 days. Based on the Webtoon series of the same name created by Joo Dong-geun, the South Korean coming-of-age zombie series struck a chord with viewers both in North America and overseas because, like any good zombie hit, it doesn't focus so much on the undead as it does on the characters. Now, after being renewed for a second season back in June 2022, fans finally have the update they've been dying to hear.
Per Netflix's social media accounts, All of Us Are Dead Season 2 has officially entered production. The streamer broke the news with a short video (seen below) that shows some gruesome zombie footage, along with the series' main cast and some behind-the-scenes moments of everyone at a table-read for the new season. Netflix has officially greenlit Season 3 of Squid Game: The Challenge, making it one of the boldest and possibly the most ruthless reality competition shows on streaming today. The British-based real-life competition show has just been confirmed for a third season, with the second season releasing in November.
Given its massive cash prize and its cutthroat gameplay featuring various children’s games, Netflix is pushing boundaries, and the new installment promises to raise the emotional and strategic stakes even higher. And amidst this recent update, there are growing rumors of an American spin-off, especially after the Squid Game Season 3 dropped a massive (potential) Easter egg at its end.

Premiering in early 2025 on Disney+ (with Hulu distribution in North America), this South Korean drama arrives amid a wave of global interest in bold streaming originals. Director Kim Jung-hyun and writer Kim Sun-hee reunite to tell a story that plays out across gleaming hospital halls and shadowed backrooms, signaling Korea’s growing export of morally complex narratives.
At its center is Jung Se-ok (Park Eun-bin), once a celebrated neurosurgeon whose license was revoked after an unauthorized procedure. She now performs illicit brain surgeries for a crime syndicate, driven by a mix of adrenaline and resentment. When her former mentor, Choi Deok-hee (Sul Kyung-gu), resurfaces to enlist her help, their reunion ignites a power struggle that blurs the line between healing and harm.
Visually, the series balances sterile operating theaters with ominous underground settings. Its shifts between medical precision and criminal suspense underscore a wider trend in streaming: genre fusion that refuses neat categorization.

‘Hyper Knife’ dives into the breaking point of humanity, delving into the deeply intricate dynamics of a mentor-student relationship in the world of neurosurgery. Humans are complicated beings, we use our inherent self-centeredness in order to motivate ourselves to achieve our dreams, all while caring for the collective soul when needed. Inevitably when set goals begin to be threatened, we are compelled to do anything in our power to prevent our dreams from vanishing into the void of memory. The cost that ambition can impose within those swallowed by them, obliterates their sense of self. It molds their desires into chains, binding them to an unyielding pursuit of an ever-distant horizon. Stripping existence from its authentic meaning, leaving them hollow echoes of aspirations that were never truly theirs. Starring Park Eun-bin as the genius shadow neurosurgeon Jung Se-ok, Sul Kyung-gu as Jung’s former mentor, and Yoon Chan-young as the...

Cheong-san becoming the villain in All of Us Are Dead season 2 would be a heartbreaking twist for the zombie K-drama after his sacrifice at the end of season 1. All of Us Are Dead has four lead characters Cheong-san, On-jo, Nam-ra, and Su-hyeok three of whom are safe and sound ahead of season 2. Cheong-sans fate in All of Us Are Dead, however, remains a mystery. While it would be difficult for a person to survive falling from a building as the whole area was being bombarded, there are enough clues to suggest that Cheong-san is alive.
Firstly, Cheong-san was bitten by Gwi-na, a hambie, during their fight in episode 11. This means that Cheong-san could have already transformed into a hambie himself, which would explain his survival. Secondly, while On-jo found the name tag she had given Cheong-san covered in ashes, we never saw his or Gwi-nams bodies. Lastly, Yoon Chan-young,...

Cheong-sans potential role in All of Us Are Dead season 2 might benefit from how long is taking for the Netflix K-drama to return. All of Us Are Dead season 2 was announced in 2022 but has yet to be given a release date. It was recently reported that the second season wont start filming until 2025, meaning that almost four years or more might have passed by the time the zombie K-drama returns. Although this is disappointing in many ways, it could make Cheong-sans story better.
All of Us Are Dead made some big changes to the source material, from the title of the series to what happens to Nam-ra at the end. The biggest of them, however, is continuing the story past the destruction of the school. All of Us Are Dead season 2 will not have the webtoon to follow, which makes it difficult to predict when and how Cheong-san returns assuming that he does.

It has been almost three years since All of Us Are Dead premiered on Netflix, but season 2 has yet to receive an official release date. The horror K-drama tells the story of a zombie outbreak that begins at a school in the fictional city of Hyosan after a professor develops a virus that turns rage into strength. All of Us Are Dead is one of the best K-dramas on Netflix and has found worldwide success, yet the wait for the second season has been frustrating.
Big-budget streaming shows taking long to return isnt new. From Stranger Things to House of the Dragon, viewers have learned to wait a couple of years for new seasons of some of the most popular shows across all platforms and networks. However, over two years after the show was renewed, All of Us Are Dead season 2 still doesnt have a release date.

Netflix's South Korean zombie apocalypse drama All of Us Are Dead was supposed to be a single-season show, but it's unexpected popularity on the streamer led to the series renewal in June 2022. During its airing, the success of the show made it the second South Korean Netflix program to hit the #1 spot in the U.S., following right behind the record of Squid Game. The show trended and maintained its position in the Top 10 non-English series for two weeks. The K-Drama stars Park Ji-hu, Yoon Chan-young, Lomon, and Cho Yi-hyun who play high school students caught up inside Hyosan High during a zombie invasion. However, the wait for Season 2 keeps getting longer as the production of All of Us Are Dead Season 2 gets delayed once more to ensure a better quality show. The 2020 Netflix series, Sweet Home, should tide All of Us Are Dead fans over until the new season drops.

Sweet Home and Squid Game have returned or are about to, but All Of Us Are Dead 2 hasn't been released yet. Fans have been eagerly waiting for season 2 of All Of Us Are Dead for over two years now. All Of Us Are Dead may only return in early 2025, following the trend set by Sweet Home and Squid Game.
Sweet Home and Squid Game, two of Netflixs flagship original K-dramas, have returned or are about to, raising the question of what is happening with All of Us Are Dead. Netflixs history with original K-dramas begins in 2019 with the release of Love Alarm, a romantic comedy starring Song Kang. Love Alarm would be the first of many of original Korean series produced by Netflix in collaboration with local studios, a strategy that was proved successful a year later with the premiere of Sweet Home. All of Us Are Dead season 1 was as good as Sweet Home, making the wait for season 2 exciting. All of Us Are Dead must avoid Sweet Home's mistakes to surpass expectations for season 2. Similar to Sweet Home, All of Us Are Dead may deliver season 2 and beyond after a three-year wait.
Sweet Home ended on a high note, but Im still waiting for my favorite Netflix horror K-drama to return. The list of K-dramas available on Netflix continues to grow, with old and new titles being added to the platform every month. Sweet Home, which starred Song Kang as Cha Hyun-su, was one of Netflixs flagship Korean series for years and concluded in July 2024 after three seasons. Despite my disappointment with season 2, I liked Sweet Home season 3s ending and where the show left things off.

Warning: This article includes Spoilers for Sweet Home season 3.
All of Us Are Dead is a perfect replacement for Sweet Home. Both shows share similarities like being based on webtoons and featuring groups of young characters surviving an apocalypse. All of Us Are Dead has a larger main cast and a more grounded approach to zombies, and it will continue past its source material like Sweet Home.
Sweet Home is over, but the perfect replacement for the monster K-drama starring Song Kang is already streaming on Netflix with a second season on its way. Following a divisive second chapter, Sweet Home season 3s ending was a satisfying conclusion for the series. Cha Hyun-su, Lee Eun-hyeok, and Lee Eun-yu had a somewhat happy ending after Nam Sang-wok was defeated and neohumans started to learn how to have feelings again. Sweet Home may have had highs and lows, but its impact and compelling characters cannot be ignored.

Cheong-san's return in season 2 is likely, but his transformation into a hambie may complicate his relationships. The hambie theory suggests Cheong-san survived and will have to hide his zombie nature from his friends. Cheong-san's comeback could mirror Nam-ra's struggle with controlling her powers, adding a dark twist to the story.
Cheong-sans return in All of Us Are Dead season 2 sounds very likely, but I think it will not be a happy moment like many are speculating. Although Cheong-sans death was as definitive as it can get he fell from a rooftop right before the entire area was bombarded his return does not sound too far-fetched. Firstly, Cheong-sans body was never actually shown. Secondly, the character is just too important not to be included in the second season of the Netflix K-drama. Lastly, Cheong-sans actor Yoon Chan-young was one of the cast members featured in the season 2 announcement video.

All of Us Are Dead season 2 shouldn't focus on new characters like Sweet Home's season 2. Similar to Sweet Home, All of Us Are Dead faces challenges reimagining original content for season 2 after covering most of its source material in season 1. All of Us Are Dead season 2 may have a time skip, which Sweet Home season 2 also used.
All of Us Are Dead season 2 has to be careful not to make the same mistake that almost ruined Sweet Home. Two of Netflixs most popular Korean shows, both Sweet Home and All of Us Are Dead were renewed for new seasons shortly after they debuted on the platform. Sweet Home season 3 premiers in 2024, only a few months after the second season, whereas All of Us Are Dead season 2s release date remains to be announced. As a fan of both shows, its difficult not to compare these two major web series.

Kim Ji-won's role in Queen of Tears marks a full-circle moment in her career, reminiscent of her breakout performance in The Heirs. The similarities between Yoo Rachel in The Heirs and Hong Hae-in in Queen of Tears showcase Kim Ji-won's versatility as an actress. Cheong-san may return as a hambie in season 2, potentially adding a tragic element to his character arc. Cheong-san becoming a hambie could explain his survival and complicate his relationships with other characters. Cheong-san and On-jo's reunion in season 2 may echo Nam-ra and Su-hyeok's struggle due to the challenges of being a hambie.
All of Us Are Dead season 2 has the chance to feature a tragic, bittersweet reunion between two of the show’s most popular characters. Little is known about All of Us Are Dead season 2’s story, especially because most of the webtoon on which the series is based has already been covered. Nam-ra's role will be crucial in All of Us Are Dead season 2 due to her hambie status. Hambies will have an important impact in the upcoming season based on how season 1 ended. All of Us Are Dead season 1's finale made one important change to Nam-ra's ending from the webtoon.
All of Us Are Dead season 1’s finale teased the arrival of new characters that will make Nam-ra even more important in season 2. Netflix’s hit K-drama followed four main characters, one of whom died at the end of season 1. On-jo, Su-hyeok, and Nam-ra were the ones left, but Nam-ra never made it to the quarantine zone alongside her group. Instead, she preferred to part ways with the group after almost hurting her friends due to her zombie transformation.

While the All of Us Are Dead season 2 release date has yet to be announced almost two years after the show was renewed, there are enough clues to theorize what the new season will be about. As one of Netflix’s best K-dramas, it is no surprise All of Us Are Dead is continuing despite having already covered the most important parts of the webtoon.

All of Us Are Dead must spend time with the original characters before adding new ones to avoid sidelining protagonists. The series needs to settle if Cheong-san is alive and explain how he could have survived. To live up to season 1, All of Us Are Dead needs a new premise beyond the destroyed school and expand the story.
All of Us Are Dead is taking a long time to release season 2, which is why Netflix’s hit zombie K-drama will have to deliver something better or at least as good as season 1 once it returns. All of Us Are Dead premiered on January 28, 2022, and was renewed for a second season in June of that same year. Still, despite being widely considered one of Netflix’s best K-dramas, the series has yet to return.
The only official look at All of Us Are Dead 2 was a renewal announcement video featuring the show’s lead actors.

All of Us Are Dead Season 2 will likely focus on characters dealing with tragic losses, setting up emotional storylines. On-jo lost her father and best friend in the season 1 finale, leaving her feeling alone in the upcoming season. A potential storyline in season 2 could involve the emotional reunion between On-jo and Cheong-san, if he is still alive.
All of Us Are Dead season 2 will have to deal with the aftermath of season 1’s ending, and one character’s fate will feel even more tragic. The Netflix K-drama about zombies lived up to its name, meaning several characters died in All of Us Are Dead. The ones who survive will have to pick up the pieces and continue moving forward, now in a very different world from what they used to know. Hyosan has been bombarded, and the military will now probably be after the remaining zombies and halfbies.

All of Us Are Dead season 2 won't premiere in 2024, signaling a long-awaited return. The wait for season 2 suggests a time skip is inevitable for the show to reinvent itself for a potential third season. The time skip would align with the actors' aging and could allow new storylines to reconnect with audiences.
All of Us Are Dead season 2 will not premiere in 2024, and now a popular fan theory about the show’s story is bound to become true. Netflix’s 2024 K-content slate included dozens of Korean dramas, movies, and reality shows that will arrive on the platform this year. The announcement featured returning series like Sweet Home 3 and Squid Game 2 as well as new shows, yet it did not include any updates on All of Us Are Dead 2, the long-awaited sequel to Netflix’s hit zombie show.

All main All of Us Are Dead villains from season 1 are dead by the end of it. Some season 1 villains may return in season 2 due to ambiguous fates. All of Us Are Dead needs new antagonists and obstacles for season 2.
All of Us Are Dead season 2 will have to address the first season’s villain problem, particularly regarding how the show ended. Following a strong debut on Netflix, All of Us Are Dead was renewed for season 2 despite having covered most of the source material already. It does not seem like the show will return anytime soon considering it is not featured in Netflix’s 2024 K-drama slate, but the anticipation for All of Us Are Dead 2 is massive regardless.
