‘Betty’ Canceled at HBO After Two Seasons (Exclusive)

“Betty” has been canceled after two seasons at HBO, Variety has confirmed exclusively.

Created by Crystal Moselle, “Betty” is a teen comedy series based on Moselle’s critically-acclaimed 2018 film “Skate Kitchen.” It follows the lives of an all-girl group of skateboarders as they navigate the male-dominated sport.

“We will not be moving forward with a third season of ‘Betty,'” HBO said in a statement. “We are very grateful for the collaboration with Crystal and our incredible cast — their fearless exploration of the world of New York City’s skate culture will remain a beautiful emblem of friendship and community.”

“Betty” stars Dede Lovelace as Janay, Kabrina Adams as Honeybear,Nina Moran as Kirt, Ajani Russell as Indigo and Rachelle Vinberg as Camille. Based on the bestselling book by Liane Moriarty, “Nine Perfect Strangers” takes place at a boutique health-and-wellness resort that promises healing and transformation. Nine “stressed city dwellers” try to get on a path to a better way of living there over the course of 10 days (taking place over eight episodes).

HBO Max has released a trailer for “Hacks,” an original series debuting on May 13.

The ten-episode season follows the dark relationship between a legendary Las Vegas comedian and an entitled, outcast 25-year-old.

Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder star alongside Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Kaitlin Olson, Christopher McDonald, Paul W. Downs, Mark Indelicato, Poppy Liu, Johnny Sibilly, Meg Stalter and Rose Abdoo.

In a Gold Derby exclusive, we have learned the category placements of the key Emmy Awards contenders for HBO. For this season, the premium cable network has returning hits such as “Big Little Lies”, “Curb Your Enthusiasm” (Larry David), “Succession” and “Westworld” (Evan Rachel Wood).
