Chicago P.D. took a break from the drama with Deputy Chief Reid.
The new episode focused on a smash-and-grab robbery that Intelligence worked.
The episode’s crux was Officer Kiana Cook working with a Confidential Informant (Ci) for the first time.
Cook joined Intelligence early in Season 12 after the new detective was killed.
Played by actress Toya Turner, the character has become more involved with cases as the season has progressed.
The April 23 episode allowed Cook another turn in the spotlight, and she had to solve a dramatic case.
Chicago P.D. Season 12, Episode 19 recap
The new episode began with Cook picking up Officer Dante Torres. He is still recovering from crashing a car during the previous episode, and they noted he was six weeks away from being fully healed.
A call came through, and Cook took it. Torres said he would stay in the car (he’s on desk duty...

At the risk of redundancy, Chicago Pd has struck gold with Kiana Cook this season.
It’s been a long while since this series has successfully fleshed out a character so well without necessarily distracting the rest of the show or characters or disrupting everything.
While Kiana had some hiccups during Chicago Pd Season 12 Episode 19, it also served as a strong, insightful peek into the character while simultaneously solving an interesting case.
(Elizabeth Sisson/NBC) Natalia del Riego Was the Ultimate Scene Stealer
While I’ll happily get into the Kiana of it all, since it was one hell of an episode for her, I have to give some proper due to Promised Land‘s Natalia del Riego, who played Ruby.
She was electric onscreen, and I appreciate a guest star who milks their screentime for all it’s worth.

Chicago Pd's latest episode, "Name Image Likeness," opened with the two youngest officers in the Iu: Kiana Cook (Toya Turner) and Dante Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar). They responded to a call and find that two people had been shot and killed at a jewelry store. Cook spotted someone trying to flee the scene, and Torres stopped him, but he wasn't even supposed to leave the car due to the fact that he's still recovering from an arm injury.
The person who tried to flee was a tweaker who had nothing to do with the crime, but was able to provide the Iu with some crucial eye witness information. He claimed three men shot up the jewelry store while wearing ski masks, but only two of them left. Iu eventually identified one of the men as a superstar college athlete named Amir Jackson.

Kurt Sutter’s latest project, The Abandons, has already got fans buzzing with excitement and speculation. Since the success of Sons of Anarchy, Sutter has built a reputation for creating gritty worlds full of outcasts and violence, and his new Netflix Western appears no different. Set in 1850s Oregon, The Abandons might seem like a shift from his outlaw biker tales. However, there are several hints that the show could be more connected to Sutter’s previous work than initially thought. It could be a hidden prequel to Sons of Anarchy.
The Abandons follows a group of outcast families fighting against corrupt enemies in a lawless landscape. Sound familiar? While not much has been released about the show, that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating that The Abandons will offer a backstory to Samcro's origins and the Teller family at the center of it all. However, with the recent news...

Netflix declined comment.

Deadline reports that Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter has exited The Abandons just three weeks before production on the first season of the Netflix series was slated to wrap. As always, the reason apparently comes down to those dreaded creative differences.
The report states that Netflix was concerned when the initial cut of the first episode came in at 1 hour and 40 minutes. It proved impossible to trim the episode down to an hour, so they decided it should be split into two. This required some additional scenes to create a cliffhanger for the new premiere, which have reportedly been written but not shot. After viewing the unfinished split episodes and part of the third, Netflix felt they “looked a bit disjointed and not propulsive enough.” A meeting between Netflix execs and Sutter to address the concerns didn’t take place before he departed.

Kurt Sutter has left his new Netflix show, according to multiple media reports. The showrunner best known for creating “Sons of Anarchy” departed “The Abandons” three weeks before production was scheduled to wrap in Calgary.
The upcoming Western drama stars Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson. Its executive producer and director Otto Bathurst as well as its co-exec producer Rob Askins will oversee the rest of the shoot. No new showrunner has been named. It’s been reported that the departure came down to creative differences.
TheWrap reached out to Netflix and representatives for Sutter for comment.
Set in the 1850s, “The Abandons” follows Fiona Nolan (Headey), a devout Irish woman who is incapable of conceiving a child. Believing in a higher purpose, she tries to build a family by adopting four orphans. But it isn’t long before she begins to face hardship after European aristocrats claim possession of her new home in Oregon.

Kurt Sutter has departed his upcoming Netflix Western series “The Abandons” just weeks before production on the series is scheduled to end, Variety has confirmed with sources.
“The Abandons” went into production in Calgary, Alberta, Canada back in May and is scheduled to wrap in mid-October. Sutter created the series and also served as executive producer and showrunner. It was originally ordered to series at Netflix in October 2022 and was first reported to be in development at the streaming giant back in November 2021.
Reps for Netflix declined to comment, but sources say that Sutter’s exit from the show came over creative differences after Netflix saw a rough cut of the first episodes. Reportedly, the first episode was so long that the plan was to split it into two, necessitating the shooting of additional scenes. It’s been a few years since Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter first announced The Abandons, but the Western series has finally started shooting. Netflix announced the start of production of the first season of The Abandons in Calgary, with an official cast photo seen above.
The official logline for The Abandons reads: “As a group of diverse, outlier families pursue their Manifest Destiny in 1850s Oregon, a corrupt force of wealth and power, coveting their land, tries to force them out. These abandoned souls, the kind of lost souls living on the fringe of society, unite their tribes to form a family and fight back. In this bloody process, ‘justice’ is stretched beyond the boundaries of the law. The Abandons will explore that fine line between survival and law, the consequences of violence, and the corrosive power of secrets, as this family fights to keep their land.“

Today, Netflix announced the start of production in Calgary on Season 1 of The Abandons, a pulse-pounding action drama set in the West by Kurt Sutter via his SutterInk banner.
“I am fascinated by the metamorphosis of good into evil. What must transpire to drive the morally sound to become the dangerously corrupt,” said Sutter. “The Abandons explores those complex compromises through the most powerful human instinct — the love and protection of mothers.”

Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter is going from the fictional town of Charming to the plains of Oregon for his next ambitious series, The Abandons. The forthcoming Netflix Western adds six cast members to its roster today, with Lucas Till, Diana Silvers, Lamar Johnson, Aisling Franciosi, and Natalia del Riego.
Created and executive produced by Kurt Sutter, The Abdandons “follows a group of diverse, outlier families pursuing their Manifest Destiny in 1850s Oregon, as a corrupt force of wealth and power, coveting their land, tries to force them out. These abandoned souls, the kind of lost souls living on the fringe of society, unite their tribes to form a family and fight back. In this bloody process, “justice” is stretched beyond the boundaries of the law.” (via Deadline)

NCIS: Los Angeles ended its 14-year run with a series finale, titled “New Beginnings,” that delivered happiness and left quite a bit up in the air about the future. For Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah) and Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen), whose journey to parenthood hasn’t been easy (remember back when the top of kids first came up?), she found out she’s pregnant just before Callen (Chris O’Donnell) and Anna’s (Bar Paly) wedding. Here, Ruah opens up about Kensi’s ending and more. After how tough the journey to parenthood has been for Kensi and Deeks, it was so great to see them so happy this past year, with Rosa (Natalia Del Riego), now the pregnancy… When did you know this was going to be part of Kensi’s ending? Daniela Ruah: I had heard some rumors that that is what they were thinking about adding for Kensi at the end,...

The Biblical story of Jesus is often referred to as the greatest ever told, but whoever came up with that line patently knew nothing about literature. Poorly structured and still more clumsily paced, with underdeveloped characters and –well – incessant use of Deus ex machina, it’s worth trying to improve on for any sequel. Rosemary Rodriguez’s present day reimagining, which screened at SXSW, occupies a middle ground between it and The Terminator, dealing with themes of unplanned motherhood and destiny, monstrous pursuit and a struggle to survive against the odds. Though not entirely successful, it’s a bold effort to breathe some life into the story and use it to explore contemporary issues.
Maria (Natalia del Riego) doesn’t know how she got pregnant, but she does know what everyone will assume, and she’s terrified of what her father will do to her if he finds out, so she has walked.

“Callen, G.” Season 1. “Lange, H.” Season 3. “Blye, K.” Season 3. “Granger, O.” Season 7. It’s about time that a “Deeks, M.” episode joins that list, and NCIS: Los Angeles Season 14 so far is shaping up to be perfect for it. The CBS procedural drama has always done a good job of having character-centric episodes, but it’s those name-specific ones, delving into one team member’s past, that we so enjoy. And given everything that has been happening with Investigator Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) in Season 14, it would be fitting for this to (finally) be the year for his. After all, it’s a big season family-wise for him. Deeks and Special Agent Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah) are now parenting Rosa (Natalia Del Riego), whom they were approved to foster in the Season 13 finale, and learning to balance their work and home ...

Heading into NCIS: Los Angeles Season 14, the team and fans are in the same boat when it comes to one loose end: Where is Hetty (Linda Hunt)?! The last known location of their former operations manager is Syria, but all they’ve managed to do is piece together the little information a few people have about what she’s been up to — and in the October 9 premiere, “Game of Drones,” Callen (Chris O’Donnell) and Kilbride (Gerald McRaney) do get some troubling news. Meanwhile, Kensi (Daniela Ruah) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) will be adjusting to being parents of a teenager, Rosa (Natalia Del Riego). Ruah tells us how that’s going to go and more. The biggest question going into Season 14 is what’s going on with Hetty. Where do we find the team when it comes to that? Stuck waiting for information? NCIS: Los Angeles is no stranger to drawing storylines out over multiple seasons (remember the mole hunt?), but fortunately, we know of at least a couple that will be resolved sooner rather than later. Season 13 ended with a couple of happy moments — Callen (Chris O’Donnell) proposed to Anna (Bar Paly), and Kensi (Daniela Ruah) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) are fostering Rosa (Natalia Del Riego) — but did leave us with quite a few questions. Among them: What’s going on with Hetty’s (Linda Hunt) mission in Syria, and when will Kessler (Frank Military) stop being an ongoing threat to Kensi? We turned to executive producer R. Scott Gemmill for answers. Callen says he needs to speak with Hetty, so where did you want to leave him at the end of this season to lead into that conversation? Is anything you can tease about it? R. Scott Gemmill: That certainly has to play out.

Farmworkers are legendary in the Chicano community, particularly in California. César Chavez and Dolores Huerta are our civil rights leaders, and the Delano Grape Strike is one of our defining moments. So when I attempted to find movies and shows about Chicano farmworkers, I was surprised to discover that there were so few. The ones I did manage to find were mostly all documentaries or based on the true story we already know. Hulu's "Promised Land" is working to change that, tracking multiple characters - Joe, Lettie, and Billy - who immigrate from Mexico to work in California's fields. The show is split between two timelines, one in the late '80s following the recently arrived farmworkers and one in the present day, when Joe and his wife, Lettie, now own the vineyard they first labored at.
