Felicia Day in Tim Travers And The Time Traveler's Paradox

In director Stimson Snead's science fiction comedy, Tim Travers And The Time Traveler's Paradox (2024), the titular character played by Samuel Dunning decides to alter reality by travelling back in time to kill his younger self. There are obvious echoes of other films that have employed a similar idea about changing the future, including James Cameron's classic science fiction action double-bill The Terminator (1984) and Terminator 2 (1991), and Jonathan Frakes' Star Trek: First Contact (1996).

Unfortunately, for Tim Travers, reality remains intact. Instead, he's confronted by multiple versions of himself. Felicia Day plays Tim's love interest Delilah, who works for a conspiracy theory media empire run by James Bunratty, played by Joel McHale.

Day created the web series The Guild (2007-2013), about a community of gamers, which ran for 70 episodes across six seasons. She also starred in the musical comedy-drama web series,...

Tim Travers & the Time Travelers Paradox Review: Samuel Dunning Stars
Image
The “time traveler’s paradox” – that brain-bending question of what happens if you alter the past in a way that prevents your future self from existing – has always struck me as one of science fiction’s most irresistible thought experiments. It’s the kind of idea that can fuel late-night dorm room debates or, in rarer cases, a genuinely inventive film.

“Tim Travers & the Time Travelers Paradox” dives headfirst into this temporal quandary. Our guide is the titular Tim Travers, a reclusive physicist whose intense dedication to his work seems to have built the very walls of his isolated laboratory. He isn’t content to merely theorize; Tim decides to put the paradox to the ultimate test by traveling back a mere minute to confront, and potentially eliminate, his younger self.

This initial, audacious act immediately signals the film’s peculiar blend of rigorous scientific inquiry and a darkly comedic,...

“…’Tim Travers’ seeks to solve the time travelers paradox. Would it--for example--literally destroy the universe? Tim Travers, self-hating mad genius, is going to find out!

“Along the way, he'll piss off an international crime syndicate led by ‘Royce’ (Trejo), engage in a battle of wills with conspiracy theorist radio host ‘James ‘ (McHale), even attempt to squeeze in a date in with the dangerously unstable ‘Delilah’ (Day).

Tim Travers And The Time Traveler's Paradox - Jennie Kermode - 19738

What happens if you go back in time and kill your younger self, so that you could never have been there to go back in time, except that then you wouldn’t have been killed, so you would be there, except then you would have killed yourself so you wouldn’t..? This is what is known as the time traveller’s paradox. There have been many boring films about it. This is a non-boring one. Where others have spent hours on fruitless debate, Tim Travers prefers to get straight to the point. He’ll find out if it’s true or not by trying it.

The film opens with a lovely long tracking shot between chain-link gates with a sign marked ‘Tim Travers: Advanced Particle Solutions’ and through the various yards and sheds in which the titular physicist (played by Samuel Dunning) carries out his work. Just how he afforded...

Fascinating Trailer for 'Tim Travers & the Time Traveler's Paradox' Film
Image
"Power core stable?" "No, we're gonna die!" An official trailer has debuted for an indie sci-fi adventure film titled Tim Travers & the Time Traveler's Paradox, from filmmaker Stimson Snead making his feature directorial debut after many other shorts. This premiered at the 2024 Cinequest Film Festival last year, and is now set for release in limited theaters on May 30th this summer. What kind of trouble will Tim get into while time traveling? The film explores the age-old question: What happens if you travel back in time and eliminate your younger self? Terminally bored mad genius Tim Travers seeks to find the answer and unravel the time traveler's paradox. The Result? A crazy comedic adventure beyond comprehension. Starring actor Samuel Dunning as Tim Travers, with Danny Trejo, Joel McHale, Keith David (as God?!), Felicia Day, and many others. This actually looks appropriately kooky and amusing and fun - nice to...

Best of 2024: 10 Hidden Horror Gems You Might’ve Missed
Image
It was another bustling, not to mention fruitful, year for horror. And because the amount of new horror releases is staggering, especially when looking beyond the popular and commercial side, it is very understandable if a lot of titles flew under radars.

So, like previous years, the objective of this end-of-year list is to bring attention to just ten of those overlooked, underrated, and less-known newer horrors that can be considered hidden gems of 2024.

Dead Teenagers

Pictured: Jordan Myers and Chris Hahn in Dead Teenagers.

Quinn Armstrong, who gave us the dark comedy Survival Skills, is behind the Fresh Hell Presents trilogy. This set of self-contained horrors began with the conversion therapy haunter The Exorcism of Saint Patrick, then tackled neo-Nazis and werewolves in Wolves Against the World. The final installment, Dead Teenagers, sounds the most conventional of the batch; young friends are picked off by a mysterious killer. Soon enough,...

Elliot was once a man with a caring family, but after his daughter’s death, grief leaves him barely recognizable from who he was. One day, a cryptic message lures him toward the possibility of seeing Dotty again. Despite his doubt, his desperate longing drives Elliot to a remote island where uncanny events unfold.

There, he discovers hardship and heartache, redemption and revelation on the shores of a place haunted in more ways than one. Above all else,...

Tim Travers and the Time Traveler's Paradox Review: Sci-Fi at Its Best
Image
Niche film tackles grandfather paradox with humor and heartwarming kick, expertly performed by veteran sci-fi comedy cast. Low-budget sci-fi with elaborate explanation avoids plot holes, offers flair and witty humor in an entertaining and unique style. Unique take on self-destruction delves into human condition, exploring personal growth and love within a mad scientist's time-travel quest.

Time travel is a premise in film that is notorious for confusing paradoxes and plot holes. It's an issue so common that many sci-fi fans simply accept it as inevitable, and most time-travel films don't even try to address it. Tim Travers and the Time Traveler's Paradox is an exception to this. Written and directed by Stimson Snead, this low-budget sci-fi film was a direct result of Snead's frustration with time travel movies and how they side-step the plot holes they create all too often.

Science geeks and sci-fi genre fans will especially love this niche film,...

Tim Travers and the Time Traveler’s Paradox Trailer Breaks the Universe
Image
Tim Travers and the Time Traveler's Paradox hits Cinequest Film Festival with a delightful cast including Felicia Day, Joel McHale, Keith David, and Danny Trejo. Director Stimson Snead uses time travel to explore extreme comedic scenarios, black holes, and more. The film delves into self-acceptance and self-love through the lens of a misanthropic loner's suicidal quest..

Tim Travers and the Time Traveler’s Paradox is traveling through time to the Cinequest Film Festival in March, after filming wrapped in early 2023 in Spokane, Washington. "Inspired by heavy drinking and poor life choices," as the film suggests, Stimson Snead’s sci-fi comedy film has a stacked cast of charmers — Felicia Day, Danny Trejo, Keith David, Joel McHale, and more, led by Samuel Dunning as the titular mad scientist, Tim Travers, a misanthrope who messes with time and the universe when he tries to kill his younger self.
