While we thought of seeing the original film beforehand to make a curious comparison between both films, we discovered that the Og currently does not exist!

Now, if you ask why we were curious, then the IMDb rating for Vash stands higher than Shaitaan. Vash is rated 8.3, while The horror flick helmed by Vikas Bahl is rated 7.5. The Ajay Devgn starrer is a remake of a Gujarati film, Vash, and the remake rights were bought by Mangat Kumar and Abhishek Pathak for this brilliant film.

Bollywood film “Shaitaan” has scored a hefty opening, according to data provided to Variety.

The film marks the first collaboration between billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s Jio Studios, Bollywood A-lister Ajay Devgn’s Devgn Films and Panorama Studios.

“Shaitaan” scored a worldwide weekend gross of $9.8 million, including India, according to numbers from Panorama Studios. Internationally, the film enjoyed a $1.8 million weekend, Panorama said. This makes it Devgn’s second highest overseas opening, after the $2.3 million earned by Panorama’s “Drishyam 2” in 2022.

Hailing from the supernatural thriller genre, “Shaitaan” stars Devgn, R. Madhavan (“The Railway Men”), Jyotika (“Kaathal – The Core”) and Janki Bodiwala (“Vash”). It is directed by Vikas Bahl (“Ganapath”) and written by Aamil Keeyan Khan (“Bholaa”) and Krishnadev Yagnik (“Danny Jigar”).

Makers of the film Kalpesh Soni, Krunal Soni, Nilay Chotai and Dipen Patel hosted a success party at Courtyard by Marriott on 3rd June. The event was attended by the big names of Gujarati Film Industry including Yash Soni, Tarjani, Chetan Dhanani, Vaishal Shah, Dhwanit, Chetan Daiya, Sandeep Patel,Aarti Patel, Aarohi Bharat Chawda along with the lead star cast and crew of the film ‘Vash'.

But when the film, which turned out to be blockbuster, was on the drawing board, it was tough to get a producer for it and then, when it was ready, it shocked the censor board official assigned to watch it!

Entrepreneur Kalpesh Soni, who is also the producer of the film, said: "The kind of film this is, it will not get a government subsidy, but we were fine with it. Even when we sent the film to the censor board, the lady who had to see it did get shocked. She was like. ‘Why are you torturing the little girl like this’. She was referring to the actress who plays the victim in the film."

‘Vash’ tells a timeless tale of the battle between good and evil, with Atharva (Hitu Kanodia) and his family embodying the forces of righteousness, while Pratap (Hiten Kumar) symbolises malevolence.
