Marvel Teases Mystery ‘Ironheart’ Cameo — Is Mephisto Finally Coming to the MCU?
Image
The new Marvel series Ironheart just released its first three episodes, and the reactions have been mixed.

The show follows Riri Williams right after the events of Wakanda Forever. She’s trying hard to turn her big ideas into reality but runs into trouble when she breaks some university plagiarism rules and gets kicked out.

With limited options, Riri ends up joining a shady group led by The Hood, played by Anthony Ramos. This group targets wealthy corporations and steals from them. The Hood’s real name is Parker Robbins, and he’s not your average thief. He has superpowers that let him bend physics and turn invisible.

‘Ironheart’ Cast and Character Guide: Who’s Who in Marvel’s New Series?
Image
It’s been a long time coming, but Marvel’s “Ironheart” is here, with the first three episodes now streaming on Disney+.

The series reunites fans with Riri Williams, a tech prodigy attending MIT who we first met back in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” But, after the events of that film, Riri is back home in Chicago, and that means a whole new set of friends and coworkers to meet.

Here’s who you need to know in the series.

Dominique Thorne in “Ironheart.” (Marvel Studios) Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne)

Riri Williams is a tech prodigy, hellbent on creating an even better suit than Tony Stark ever did. She’s played by Dominique Thorne, who fans first met as the character in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” Prior to that, Thorne starred in “If Beale Street Could Talk” and “Judas and the Black Messiah.”

Ironheart puts the heart back into the MCU: Episode 1-3 review
Image
The legacy of Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man lives on in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and while Tony Stark kicked the bucket back in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, his ghost looms large as a plucky young upstart tries to one-up the billionaire playboy. Hot off her standout introduction in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Dominique Thorne is back in action as Riri Williams. Joining other MCU brain boxes like Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/Hulk and Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Riri surely has a bright future ahead of her.

As Riri Williams, Bad Girl Genius, Thorne leads Ironheart as an amuse-bouche before we’re catapulted into blockbusters like The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Avengers: Doomsday. While there’s lots of talk about Riri being ‘small’ during Ironheart’s three-episode premiere, this is one series with ambitions that are anything but.

The first three episodes of Ironheart have just landed on Disney+,...

Dominique Thorne and Anthony Ramos Tease Major ‘Ironheart’ Villain Cameo, And All Signs Point to You Know Who
Image
The new Marvel series Ironheart just dropped its first three episodes, and fans have mixed feelings about it. The story follows Riri Williams, who finds herself kicked out of MIT after breaking rules to support her tech projects. Left with few options, she soon crosses paths with a dangerous figure known as The Hood.

The Hood runs a gang that targets corrupt wealthy people by using blackmail. But what sets him apart is his magical cloak, which lets him bend the laws of physics, making him invisible and able to do things that don’t seem possible in the real world.

Fans of the comics know that The Hood’s powers come from a dark deal, he sold his soul to gain them. The show hasn’t said this outright, but many clues point in that direction.

Dominique Thorne and Anthony Ramos Hint at Shocking ‘Ironheart’ Cameo, But We Think We Know Who It Is
Image
Ironheart is now out with its first three episodes, and people seem divided on it. The show picks up where Black Panther: Wakanda Forever left off, showing Riri Williams being kicked out of MIT. She had broken school rules to fund her big tech ideas, and now she’s stuck without a clear future.

Not long after that, Riri runs into a mysterious guy named The Hood. He leads a gang that targets corrupt rich people and blackmails them. But it’s not just street crime, The Hood has a magical cloak that lets him disappear and do things that clearly don’t follow the laws of science.

If you’ve read the comics, you’ll know The Hood got his powers by selling his soul. The show hasn’t said that outright, but it’s dropping plenty of hints, and fans are already connecting the dots.

Eric André's Ironheart Character Has A Connection To The Last Marvel Hero You'd Expect
Image
This article contains spoilers for "Ironheart" season 1, episode 1, "Take Me Home."

Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) is out of Wakanda, out of MIT, and in with a seriously bad crowd. The long-awaited "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" spin-off "Ironheart" takes Riri back to her roots in Chicago, with a burning desire to build something truly unsurpassed but a chronic lack of funding. To alleviate the latter, she agrees to join Parker "The Hood" Robbins' (Anthony Ramos) gang of criminals for some hopefully easy heist money after being convinced that they're palatable enough to work with in the short term.

Parker's group features the sort of misfits you'd expect to see in a heist-themed MCU project, from Shea Couleé's hacker Slug to Sonia Denis' erratic Clown. Perhaps the most surprising presence among them is noted comedian Eric André, who plays the team's resident tech guy, Stuart Clarke. Stuart spends much of...

Ironheart — “Will the Real Natalie Please Stand Up?” — Episode 2 Spoiler Recap and Review
Image
Now that we have the basic pieces in place, Ironheart can let Riri move forward. However, the series immediately jumps back into the discussion about Natalie because, frankly, it’s a shocking bit of wish fulfillment. Already, Ironheart correctly identifies the weird moral dilemma of bringing one’s best friend back from the dead, and it makes “Will the Real Natalie Please Stand Up?” one of the more interesting episodes of MCU TV to date.

Ironheart — “Will the Real Natalie Please Stand Up?” Recap

She hides the AI in her room and discovers her suit creates a hologram of her “body.” They fight about N.A.T.A.L.I.E. taking on her friend’s personality and appearance. Ironheart — “Take Me Home” — Episode 1 Spoiler Recap and Review
Image
While Ironheart has been promised to audiences since Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the MCU slowed down its production speeds drastically over the last few years. With Ryan Coogler’s support and Chinaka Hodge serving as the creator, Ironheart finally makes its way to Disney+. Moving Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) to Chicago and giving us a peek at her life away from Wakanda provides us with a chance to reset. This is good for the limited series, but it will mean audiences have an exposition-heavy reintroduction to the character in “Take Me Home.”

Ironheart TV Review: Dominique Thorne leads Marvel Television’s new tech-meets-magic series
Image
Plot: Set after the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Ironheart pits technology against magic when Riri Williams — a young, genius inventor determined to make her mark on the world—returns to her hometown of Chicago. Her unique take on building iron suits is brilliant, but in pursuit of her ambitions, she finds herself wrapped up with the mysterious yet charming Parker Robbins aka “The Hood”.

Review: Announced in December 2020, Marvel Studios’ Ironheart is finally debuting on Disney+ almost three years after Dominique Thorne appeared as Riri Williams in Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Since that film, the MCU has hit its lowest point both creatively and at the box office, leading Kevin Feige and the leadership at Marvel Studios to approach their small screen projects differently than they used to. Ironheart was developed with the aim of a multi-season approach despite being billed as a limited series.

Ironheart Review: The Most Emotionally Daring MCU Show Since WandaVision
Image
After the announcement that Riri Williams would enter the MCU, Marvel Comics knew there was potential for a great new hero. After all, Riri had established herself as a new kind of teen hero, helping to usher in a new class of Marvel heroes for new readers to connect with. While Tony Stark might be gone, our latest armored hero has her own vices to overcome.

Ironheart Plot

In the aftermath of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) returns to MIT. Marvel fans are buzzing with excitement over the possibility that Mephisto, the iconic demon from Marvel comics, might finally debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The speculation is centered on the upcoming Disney+ series Ironheart, set to launch on June 24, 2025.

Robert Downey Jr. Interrupts an Ironheart Interview, But It’s His Hat That MCU Fans Need to See

Iron Man loves Ironheart, but Marvel fans love Robert Downey Jr.'s new Doctor Doom hat. The hat made its debut during Downey's recent video message to the cast of Ironheart during their Good Morning America interview.

At first glance, nothing seems off about the black Pinewood Studios hat that Downey is wearing throughout the video. However, upon a closer look, fans will notice that "Wood" is colored green and the "D" is reversed, so when flipped, it spells "Doom."The Pinewood Studios logo, when viewed upside down, also becomes a headshot of Doctor Doom from the comics. While Downey will likely always be remembered among comic book fans for his 11-year tenure as Tony Stark/Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he has fully embraced his upcoming stint as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, with the Pinewood Studios hat being the latest custom Doom...

Ironheart gets a behind-the-scenes featurette, stirs up villain speculation
When the character Riri Williams (played by Dominique Thorne) made her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut back in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the idea was that we’d be seeing the character again the following year in her own six-episode Disney+ show Ironheart… but 2023 came and went without Ironheart, and so did 2024. Now we know that we’ll finally have the chance to watch the show on June 24th – and in anticipation of that premiere date, a behind-the-scenes featurette has dropped online, mixing footage from the show with clips of interviews with cast members and producers (including Black Panther director Ryan Coogler). Much of the footage in the featurette has been seen before, in either the trailer embedded above or the second trailer, but there’s a bit of new footage in the mix as well – and some of that footage has stirred up villain speculation among Marvel Comics fans.

Ironheart: First Look At Rupaul's Drag Race Alum Shea Couleé's "Secret" Character Revealed

Marvel's Ironheart is set to premiere later this month, but it can be easy to forget just how long this series has been in development. We first got word that RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Shea Couleé had nabbed a "secret" role in the show back in 2022, and are just now finding out some details about her character.

EW has shared a first look at Couleé's character, a "fierce hacker" who goes by the nickname "Slug."

"I help a group of urban Robin Hoods to take away from the privileged and help give back to the community," Shea tells the site. "I’m there to help out on all the missions that go down, trying to shift this power dynamic in this version of Chicago we see in the show."

Though this might well be a new character, there's a chance Couleé is playing a reimagined take on Ulysses Lugman,...

'She Kind of Breaks Bad:' Marvel Exec Compares Ironheart to Televisions' Greatest Antiheroes
Image
Antiheroes like Bucky Barnes and Deadpool have always been popular with fans. The upcoming Disney+ series Ironheartwill introduce fans to another morally gray character.

Speaking to SFX Magazine, executive producer Sev Ohanian compared series protagonist Riri Williams to some of television's most popular antiheroes. "Riri is brilliant yet flawed and finds herself going down a path that I'm not sure we've quite seen in the MCU," the exec said via GamesRadar+. "She kind of breaks bad in the show, and we go to some uncomfortable places for audiences that I think will be really fun to explore, almost in the vein of Walter White from Breaking Bad or Tony Soprano."

Walter White and Tony Soprano are perfect examples of antiheroes who kept audiences hooked as they navigated morally complex territory. Walter started out as an ordinary chemistry teacher, only to lose himself in the criminal underworld as his choices became darker and more dangerous.

Marvel's Ironheart Gets First Clip Ahead of Disney+ Debut This Month
Image
Marvel gives fans a sneak peek at the upcoming Ironheartseries before it arrives on Disney+.

In a new clip from IGN, fans can watch nearly a full minute of Marvel Studios' upcoming Ironheart series. The clip sees Dominique Thorne's Riri Williams confronting Anthony Ramos' Parker Robbins, better known as The Hood, over a recent series of heists. While Robbins tries to find some common ground between the two of them, it is clear that his attempts to connect with Riri are built on little more than surface level observations, and that it will take a bit more of an intimidation factor to make Ironheart flinch.

Set to premiere on Disney+ on June 24, Ironheart will mark the return of Thorne's Riri Williams, who first appeared in 2022's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The series will also mark the debut of Ramos' take on The Hood, a former friend and ally...

Ryan Coogler Calls Ironheart a 'Crazy Combination' of These 3 MCU Projects
Image
Ironheart will be the best of multiple corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to Ryan Coogler. The Black Panther director, who is an executive producer on Ironheart, recently compared the upcoming Disney+ series to three well-received and beloved MCU projects.

In an interview with Marvel.com, Coogler unpacked how Ironheart would blend the realism of the McU's street-level shows with the franchise's mystical side. "Riri [Williams] is definitely in conversation with a street-level show like Daredevil. You’ve got characters trying — both heroes and villains — to make do with what they have," Coogler explained. "Then you combine that with cosmic Marvel, characters who would be at home in Doctor Strange or WandaVision. That [mix] of street-level Marvel and magical Marvel is a pretty crazy combination."

Surprisingly, Coogler does not compare Ironheart to Black Panther or Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the latter of which is where Dominique Thorne's Riri Williams made her MCU debut.

Get a new look at the Ironheart series with images of Riri Williams in the new suit
Image
2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever did the usual Marvel thing and laid some ground for future projects that had been announced. Other than the sequel establishing Shuri as the new Black Panther, the Ryan Coogler film also introduced a college student who would be taking up the mantle of Tony Stark with her own brand of Iron armor. The setup could lend itself to both the Ironheart show and the planned Armor Wars project, but after some years, the studio is finally set to premiere the series this summer on June 24 on Disney+.

The social media for DiscussingFilm has unveiled the release date as well as posted a couple of new looks at the Ironheart series with some preview images of Riri Williams in her new Iron Man-inspired suit. You can get a look at the newly released images below.

In July 2018, a script for a film featuring the Marvel Comics character Riri Williams/Ironheart, written by Jada Rodriguez, was included on The Black List, but the film was never produced. In December 2020, Marvel Studios announced the development of an ‘Ironheart’ series for Disney+.

Now, three years after Riri’s first appearance, the wait is almost over, as the series is scheduled to be released in 2025.

Ironheart: Anthony Ramos on playing the Marvel character The Hood
Image
When the character Riri Williams (played by Dominique Thorne) made her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut back in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the idea was that we’d be seeing the character again the following year in her own six-episode Disney+ show Ironheart… but 2023 came and went without Ironheart, and the show still doesn’t have an official premiere date. It is expected to come along sometime in 2025, and a trailer was recently shown at the D23 event. It will be a while before we get to see the show’s characters in action, but during a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, cast member Anthony Ramos took a moment to talk about the character he plays in the series: Parker Robbins, a.k.a. The Hood.

Ramos said, “I saw a trailer at D23. We walked onstage, and they played this new trailer of Ironheart, and it was my first time seeing it.

Based on what we’ve seen so far, Joe Locke’s character, Billy Kaplan, will play a crucial role in this storyline. He is expected to be significant in the MCU, both as a key figure in Agatha’s quest and due to his potential connection to the Scarlet Witch.

Joe Locke’s role is significant not only for the storyline but also for LGBTQ+ representation in the MCU, as Kaplan will join the ranks of other queer characters. Locke stands out as one of the few openly Lgbtqia+ actors playing a queer role in the MCU,...

However, Joe Locke’s character is important for one more reason, in terms of LGBTQ+ representation in the MCU, as Kaplan is bound to join the ranks of other Queer characters.

Ironheart Star Hopes for On-Screen Battle With Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom
Image
Dominque Thorne is ready to cross paths with Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom. The Ironheart actor recently shared that she wants Riri Williams to fight Downey's new villainous alter ego in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Speaking with Rotten Tomatoes, alongside her Ironheart co-stars, Thorne was asked if she wanted to see Riri Williams/Ironheart go up against Downey's Doctor Doom. "I mean, who wouldn't, right? I think that's again one of the great things about the MCU is that right when you think, 'Oh, we've seen it all', there is indeed more. And not only is there more, but it's more with so much depth to it," she shared. "And so I know everybody, like, we're all already beside ourselves thinking about what that even looks like. And so, of course, I mean, I think we probably all do."
