Great White Waters: new shark thriller from the director of Sharknado is coming to Tubi
Image
Anthony C. Ferrante, who used to write for Fangoria magazine back in the day, has directed twenty feature films over the course of his directing career – and he sure seems to love making shark thrillers. Ferrante was the director behind the over-the-top shark action of Sharknado, and when that movie turned out to be a pop culture sensation he returned to direct all five of the increasingly over-the-top sequels. The franchise wrapped up in 2018… and five years later, Ferrante directed his seventh shark movie, an Asylum production called Blind Waters that was released through the Tubi streaming service. Now, Ferrante has made another shark movie: Great White Waters, which is set to be released by Tubi on July 4th. Yes, the same day many of us will be watching the greatest shark movie of all time, Jaws. You can watch the trailer for Great White Waters in the embed above.

Great White Waters (2025)
‘Great White Waters’ from ‘Sharknado’ Director Swims onto Tubi This Fourth of July [Trailer]
Great White Waters (2025)
Cocaine incites a shark feeding frenzy in Great White Waters, a new Tubi original from the director of Sharknado, and the trailer has arrived this morning.

Great White Waters premieres on the streaming platform on July 4, 2025.

The film’s official synopsis reads, “When millions in cartel cocaine go missing off Florida’s coast, the search turns savage as vicious sharks close in on anyone daring to claim the stash.”

Angela Cole, Johnny Ramey, Steve Hanks, Ashton Leigh, and Hector Becerra star. Director Anthony C. Ferrante co-wrote the screenplay with Geoff Mead.

This marks the second team-up between Tubi and Ferrante when it comes to sharks; Ferrante stranded a couple with sharks in the 2022 Tubi original Blind Waters. Ferrante is also behind the first five Sharknado films, so he’s well versed in campy shark horror.

Watch the new Great White Waters trailer below, which introduces a variety of characters vying...

‘Shark Warning’ DVD Review
Image
Stars: Gordon Mudd, Jonas Silbor, Andi Rexha, Andrew J Katers, Angela Cole, David Chokachi, Rebecca Ritz, Canyon Prince | Written by Ryan Ebert | Directed by Jimmy Gadd

As someone with a soft spot for both aquatic carnage and the gloriously unhinged cinema of The Asylum, I approached Shark Warning with tempered expectations and a hopeful heart. After all, when they’re not busy crafting mockbuster mayhem, The Asylum does occasionally deliver a creature feature that scratches the right B-movie itches. With the chill of fall settling in and the inevitable flood of homicidal holiday mascots on the way, Shark Warning seemed like the perfect seasonal send-off for summer sharksploitation. In hindsight, maybe I should’ve waited for a killer reindeer instead.

The story kicks off in Lake Havasu, where young Danny (Gordon Mudd) becomes a midday snack for a rogue great white, under the negligent eye of Uncle Ron (Andi Rexha). Fast forward twenty years,...

‘Shark Warning’ VOD Review
Image
Stars: Gordon Mudd, Jonas Silbor, Andi Rexha, Andrew J Katers, Angela Cole, David Chokachi, Rebecca Ritz, Canyon Prince | Written by Ryan Ebert | Directed by Jimmy Gadd

When they’re not churning out mockbusters, The Asylum manages to produce films like Shark Warning at a pretty good pace as well. And with fall having arrived, I figured I might as well get in one last tale of finned fury before Krampus and killer Santas become required viewing. I probably shouldn’t have pushed my luck and looked for a killer Rudolph film instead.

Young Danny (Gordon Mudd) and Alan (Jonas Silbor) play on the beach under the not-so-watchful eye of their Uncle Ron when a great white swims into the shallows and attacks Danny. Twenty years later, the now-grown Alan is returning just in time for the Lake Havasu fishing tournament. He’s almost instantly recognized by Lisa, “You’re the brother that lived!

‘Shark Warning’ Trailer – The Asylum’s Next Shark Attack Movie Arrives This Month
Image
From the writer of Shark Side of the Moon comes The Asylum’s Shark Warning, which is first swimming to limited theaters on July 26 before arriving on VOD outlets on July 30.

In Shark Warning, “After 20 years, a man returns to the town where his brother was killed by a shark. But when it resurfaces and kills again, the man decides to hunt down the predator.”

Of course, the storyline is set into motion when a bunch of pesky humans commit the cardinal sin of shark attack movies, putting their own greed ahead of the safety of the town’s residents. Yup, it’s another low-budget Jaws. You already know what you’re getting from this one.

The film will be opening in the following theaters this Friday:

Laemmle Glendale – Glendale, CA Hickory Ridge Cinemas – Brunswick, Oh Trylon Cinema – Minneapolis, Mn Film Noir Cinema – Brooklyn, NY Aurora Cineplex – Roswell, Ga

David Chokachi,...

‘Night of the Tommyknockers’ VOD Review
Image
Stars: Richard Grieco, Angela Cole, Tom Sizemore, Robert Lasardo, Jessica Morris, Bj Mezek, Denny Nolan | Written by Rolfe Kanefsky, Michael Mahal, Sonny Mahal | Directed by Michael Su

There are not many times that a dynamite blast opens a film, yet that’s true of the latest feature from Mahal Empire. In the 1870s, miners are shown blasting within a cave in search of gold. While one of the group worries about a cave-in, another says the real danger is Tommyknockers – mythical creatures compared to Leprechauns, but “six feet taller and nastier.” As the group split up, the gold is discovered while many meet a grisly end at the Tommyknocker’s hands.

The Western then shifts focus to the Dirk Gang, a brutal group led by the eponymous Dirk (Richard Grieco). These wanted figures rob a bank, showing their force through murder and shooting off a civilian’s ear. They take a hostage,...

‘The Hunting’ Review
Image
Stars: Angela Cole, Daniel Repas, Peyton Hillis, Keith Migra, Joelle Westwood, Joaquin Guerrero | Written by Mark Andrew Hamer, Heather Ryan, Terrance Ryan | Directed by Mark Andrew Hamer

The Hunting opens with a vaguely glimpsed furry creature killing a drunken fisherman under the full moon. When he doesn’t come home, his wife Sarah calls in a missing person report, one of several the town is dealing with. Chief Galligan sends Detective Ryan Conner (Peyton Hillis; former NFL Fullback and cover athlete on Madden NFL 12) and his partner Dave (Keith Migra) to look into it. Dave, I should add, is the chief’s son.

Meanwhile out at Talbot’s Wolf Sanctuary Maggie Talbot (Joelle Westwood) is coping with the one-year anniversary of her parent’s death and, with the help of Todd (Joaquin Guerrero; Warpath), keeping their dream alive.

Director Mark Andrew Hamer and co-writers Heather and Terrance Ryan, all making their feature debuts,...

The Hunting (2019)
First Trailer for Indie Werewolf Thriller 'The Hunting' Filmed in Ohio
The Hunting (2019)
"It's obvious this animal didn't kill for food..." It must've killed out of spite! Black Mandala Productions has unveiled an early promo trailer for another new werewolf film titled The Hunting, marking the feature narrative directorial debut of filmmaker Mark Andrew Hamer (executive producer for I See You). The basic logline for this sounds like every other werewolf film but that's not surprising: When a mysterious animal attack leaves a mutilated body in the forest, a conservative small town detective must enlist the help of an eager wildlife specialist to uncover the dark & disturbing truth that threatens the town. Most of the footage in this trailer is filled with all the usual werewolf tropes including wolves, but it finally breaks form at the end. The film stars Peyton Hillis, Joelle Westwood, Joaquin Guerrero, Keith Migra, Angela Cole, and Alan Tuskes. This was shot mostly in Ohio and Michigan. I just...

Horror Highlights: Ghost Master, Infinity Pool, The Hunting, Medusa
Image
Ghost Master: "Ghost Master (originally titled Gôsuto masutâ) is a Japanese horror-comedy that follows Akira Kurosawa, a nerdy assistant director working on the set of a low budget rom-com at an abandoned school. Burnt out on campy teen dramas, Akira dreams of becoming the ultimate horror master. When a conflict with the director, Atsushi Suzuki causes half the cast to strike, Akira is left in charge of the production. Ditching the scheduled project and pivoting to his own horror script, titled Ghost Master, Akira is shocked when his evil screenplay comes to life and begins possessing the cast, including the film’s star, Yuya. As a killing spree commences and the body count rises, Akira must band together with the crew and one remaining actress, Mana to stop the gruesome attacks.

Winner of “Best Film” at the 2020 International Fantasy Film Awards, Ghost Master is directed by Paul Young (“Flashback”) and...

Name: The Curse Of Lilith Ratchet (aka American Poltergeist: The Curse Of Lilith Ratchet)

Age: 2019

Appearance: A slick-looking ghostly slasher film with all the production values of a Hallmark film. Not much blood or atmosphere but plenty of hysterical acting and a villain that looks like a cross between the Woman in Black and former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

Lilith Ratchet. Don’t lose your head!

Alright guv’nor. ‘Ow’s it going?

Why are you speaking like that? And what’s with the flat cap and chimney brush.

It’s the Curse of Lilith Ratchet, innit geezer? That’s the name of a Dickensian cockerneeee villain, if ever I ‘eard one.

She’s nothing of the sort.

‘Fighting The Sky’ Review
Stars: Angela Cole, Roger Conners, Jinette Faraj, Judith A. Faraj, Alison Headrick, Matthew Ward, Nicole Ann Hicks, Logan Roberts, Larry Cahill, Brianna Burke, Joe Gotschall, Bailey Weaver, Theresa Wylie, Ed Conrad, Sean Keta | Written by David Matthew Cummings, Conrad Faraj, Roger Jones | Directed by Conrad Faraj

Fighting The Sky got my interest through what I thought was a great-looking poster (not the one used for this release – check the original poster out on IMDb!). Sometimes it is something as simple as that to make me watch a movie and, as expected, it’s pretty much 50/50 on whether the film is good or not.

In Fighting The Sky we follow two groups of people, one a young teenagers/children group, the other a group of adults, who are both slowly discovering that someone or something is here to invade Earth from the sky, until eventually both their world’s interact. I...
