Image
There is no shortage of romance anime dynamics in any genre. However, shonen romances have often shown relationships getting their start when the male protagonist has feelings first. While it doesn’t always happen this way, many male main characters begin their crushes before the female leads. This has remained a popular trope that continues to have its fans to this day.

The best shonen romances where the guy falls first typically feature underdog main characters who see their love interests as too out of their league. 10 Most Annoying Shonen Anime Main Characters, Ranked
Image
The most iconic aspect of any great shonen anime is its protagonist. Main characters can make or break an anime - particularly in the shonen genre. Therefore, when the main character is written to be irritating, it can grate on fans’ nerves. Whenever a new shonen anime drops, it’s a toss-up about whether the protagonist will be insufferable. Yet, when they are annoying, they can go straight from perplexing to awful.

The worst, most annoying shonen anime main characters can be constantly whiny. They cry at the drop of a hat or explain their problems so much that audiences wish they would talk about something else. Maybe the characters have saccharine personalities or are so overpowered that there are no stakes in their shows. Whatever the case may be, these are some of the most annoying anime protagonists to grace audiences' screens in recent memory.

Hidive's Latest Anime Masterpiece Is An Epic Fantasy That Deserves More Attention
Image
Hidive's Ragna Crimson should receive just as much attention as Crunchyroll's Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. Ragna Crimson's sense of loss is more indirect and nuanced, which may be why it hasn't resonated with as many fans. Despite not losing anyone in the traditional sense, Ragna is haunted by the prospect and creates circumstances to emulate real loss, adding more nuance to his suffering.

The ongoing first season of Hidive's epic fantasy masterpiece Ragna Crimson has already proven itself to be worthy of whatever positive attention it receives, but the series has clearly not garnered enough of the praise it so rightfully deserves. Based on its overall structure and delivery, Ragna Crimson should at least be on the same level as Crunchyroll's brilliant Frieren: Beyond Journey's End.

Although Hidive has produced such hits as Oshi no Ko, the vast majority of series streaming there too easily fall under the radar despite their flawless execution.

Image
One of the most recent trends in Asian cinema is the sci-fi/genre movies that follow a more art-house approach, not leaning exclusively on SFX, but also trying to develop the protagonist characters and make some comments in the process. One day during a job, he stumbles upon a high schooler named Tasuku, who possesses much more powerful abilities than him, and asks him to cooperate with them.
