A Blind Bargain trailer: Crispin Glover stars in reimagining of lost Lon Chaney classic – Exclusive!
Image
Back in 1922, after an extended battle with the censors of the time (who were unhappy with the subject matter of “doctors creating artificial life and attempting to play God”), Goldwyn Pictures released a silent horror film called A Blind Bargain, which starred the legendary Lon Chaney as both Dr. Arthur Lamb and his assistant, the Ape Man. Sadly, A Blind Bargain went on to become a lost film, as MGM destroyed the original negative years after they took over Goldwyn Pictures, and the last surviving print is thought to have burned in the same 1965 fire in Vault #7 on the MGM backlot that also resulted in the loss of London After Midnight and other Lon Chaney films. Now, director Paul Bunnell has made a reimagining of A Blind Bargain, and we have the Exclusive first look at the trailer. Check it out in the embed above!

Johnny Lawrence Is Right: Let’s Live Like It’s the ‘80s
Image
In recent years, we’ve seen a rise in warnings against “toxic nostalgia.” Fondly recalling times past is fine until that recollection turns into a yearning that keeps us from moving forward in the present day, making choices that will bring us happiness now. Not to mention, in most cases, memories of yesteryear have been edited for maximum rosiness, and bear no resemblance to our actual personal histories.

That said, if you’re like Cobra Kai’s Johnny and the era you want to go back to is the 1980s, that’s perfectly normal and, in fact, healthy.

Here are five reasons why…

5 We Either Were Healthier or Just Thought We Were, Which Is Just as Good

When Johnny (William Zabka) opens his Cobra Kai dojo for a new generation, back in Season One, he only has one student: his neighbor Miguel (Xolo Maridueña). Miguel learns his first lesson — “Strike...

Who Killed Simon Kelleher in One of Us is Lying?
Image
Simon's death was intentional, involving a deadly prank and a lack of EpiPens. The real killer framed others, exposing dark secrets and leading to a deadly confrontation. Canceled after season 2, unresolved mysteries and questions leave fans wanting more.

Peacock's One of Us is Lying is a riveting teen mystery based on Karen M. McManus' 2017 novel of the same name. This now-canceled series joins a list of teen shows with edgy premises but is sadly marked by a season 2 cliffhanger that will likely never be resolved. The series follows a Breakfast Club-esque group of five teens who walk into detention, but the gossiper Simon Kelleher (Mark McKenna) doesn't make it out alive.

Simon meets a quick and untimely demise during the first episode, which begs the question of how someone dies in detention. While death from boredom can be easily ruled out, in the show, Simon's death is much more complicated.

Vampire Academy and One of Us Is Lying Canceled at Peacock
Sisi Stringer and Daniela Nieves in Vampire Academy (2022)
Peacock is reworking its slate, and it's bad news for fans of YA dramas Vampire Academy and One of Us Is Lying.

Deadline reported Friday night that both series had been canceled after their most recent runs on the streaming service.

Vampire Academy came from Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries) and was expected to be a big hit for the service, but Deadline notes that the numbers didn't justify a second season.

"St. Vladmir's Academy isn't just any boarding school — it's a hidden place where vampire royals are educated and half-human teens train to protect them from the savage 'Strigoi' vampires who would like to see them destroyed," reads the logline for the series.

Vampire Academy stars Daniela Nieves (Snowfall) as Royal Moroi vampire Lissa Dragomir, Sisi Stringer (Mortal Kombat) as Rose's Dhampir Guardian Rose Hathaway, and Kieron Moore (Sex Education) Dhampir Guardian Dimitri Belikov.

The cast also includes Andre Dae Kim...

One of Us Is Lying Cast and Showrunner Preview Season 2's Big Shift, New Friendships, & More
Erica Saleh
One of Us Is Lying Season 2 is a significant step up from its predecessor.

Armed with a compelling mystery, excellent characters, and just enough darkness, it is one of the year's best shows.

TV Fanatic got the chance to chat with showrunner Erica Saleh and cast members Annalisa Cochrane (Addy), Chibuikem Uche (Cooper), Marianly Tejada (Bronwyn), Cooper Van Grootel (Nate), and Jessica McLeod (Janae).

Saleh teases that One of Us Is Lying Season 2 picks up in the immediate aftermath of the message from Simon Says.

The teenagers vowing to go their separate ways after Jake's (Barrett Carnahan) death is now impossible because they've been forced back together to find out who is texting them.

e

The showrunner cautions that they also need to find out how much this person knows, but through all of that, the teenagers have to asses just how much they trust each other.

One of Us Is Lying Season 2 Review: Stellar Mystery Brings Darkness to Bayview
Marianly Tejada, Cooper van Grootel, Annalisa Cochrane, and Chibuikem Uche in Qui ment? (2021)
Telling another mystery after the original is dead and buried is tough.

Many mystery series struggle to follow up that first big hook, but One of Us Is Lying Season 2 manages to elevate the mystery and the stakes to leave viewers with a sense of dread.

TV Fanatic got the chance to screen the entire season ahead of launch, and you'll be glad to know that the series takes things in a drastically different direction.

That's not to say there were any significant flaws with the first season. It's just that taking things in a different direction as opposed to reinventing what made the first season successful is a sign that the creatives are confident in their storytelling.

We pick back up with Addy (Annalisa Cochrane), Cooper (Chibuikem Uche), Bronwyn (Marianly Tejada), Nate (Cooper van Grootel), and Janae (Jessica McLeod) in the immediate aftermath of that text.

Marianly Tejada, Cooper van Grootel, Annalisa Cochrane, and Chibuikem Uche in Qui ment? (2021)
One of Us Is Lying Cast Breaks Down Killer Reveal, Tease Season 2 Mystery
Marianly Tejada, Cooper van Grootel, Annalisa Cochrane, and Chibuikem Uche in Qui ment? (2021)
One of Us Is Lying is one of the best teen dramas in recent memory.

It had a carefully constructed mystery, excellent character development, and one of the most satisfying finales in years.

TV Fanatic got the chance to chat with Annalisa Cochrane (Addy), Chibuikem Uche (Cooper), Marianly Tejada (Bronwyn), Cooper van Grootel (Nate), and Barrett Carnahan (Jake).

We are about to delve into spoiler territory, so head over to Peacock if you haven't watched the entire series. It's eight episodes of pure fun! The best part about it is that it is best served binged.

I asked the cast what attracted them to the series, and for Marianly, she felt that Bronwyn was a Latin X character she hadn't often seen on-screen, describing the character as a "nerd, with a little bit of sass."

"She's very unapologetic about being a brainiac. And I feel like there's shyness around that...

Image
The executive producers and stars of One Of Us Is Lying gathered for a virtual panel at New York Comic Con on Saturday, to tease their new YA mystery series, which began streaming on Peacock October 7.

Panelists joining moderator Ashley Bellman for the conversation included EP-showrunner Darío Madrona and EP Erica Saleh, along with cast members Annalisa Cochrane, Chibuikem Uche, Marianly Tejada, Cooper van Grootel, and Mark McKenna. Each was asked during the chat to try to sum up the new show in two words, with Van Grootel calling it “incredibly transforming,” Cochrane referring to it as “highly bingeable” and Madrona describing it as “an emotional rollercoaster.”

The Peacock Original based on Karen M. McManus’ New York Times bestseller of the same name is set at Bayview High, telling the story of what happens when five high schoolers walk into detention and only four make it out alive. Everyone is a suspect,...

One of Us Is Lying Team Talks Changes From Book to TV, Defying Teen Drama Archetypes — Plus, Grade the Premiere

Elite-turned-One of Us Is Lying showrunner Darío Madrona knows a thing or two about fictional teens and murder mysteries. But don’t mistake the high schoolers in the new Peacock drama (now streaming its first three episodes) for the glam partiers in the Netflix soap.

In fact, if the kids of Elite could give the One of Us Is Lying characters some advice, “they would probably tell them to enjoy themselves more and get out a little bit, maybe do some drugs and hook up with each other,” Madrona jokes with a laugh.

One of Us Is Lying: Trailer and Premiere Date for Peacock Drama
Marianly Tejada, Cooper van Grootel, Annalisa Cochrane, and Chibuikem Uche in Qui ment? (2021)
One of Us Is Lying finally has a premiere date.

The highly-anticipated teen drama launches Thursday, October 7, on Peacock.

The 8-episode season will roll out over the course of three weeks, with new episodes dropping in batches on Thursdays.

As a result, the rollout plan is as follows:

Episodes 1-3 will drop Thursday, October 7

Episodes 4-6 on Thursday, October 14

Episodes 7-8 on Thursday, October 21

It's a different way to do things, and HBO Max successfully shared some of its shows that way.

Netflix has been trialing it on reality series, but it seems to be doing well among people who watch scripted shows.

Based on Karen M. McManus's #1 New York Times best-selling novel, One Of Us Is Lying is the story of what happens when five high schoolers walk into detention, and only four make it out alive.

Everyone is a suspect, and everyone has something to hide.

Cobra Kai Season 3: What Happened to Aisha and Stingray?
Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, Mary Mouser, Peyton List, Jacob Bertrand, Tanner Buchanan, Gianni DeCenzo, and Xolo Maridueña in Cobra Kai (2018)
This article contains Cobra Kai season 3 spoilers.

Cobra Kai season 3 brought back several beloved characters from the original Karate Kid movies including Daniel’s first two loves, Ali (Elisabeth Shue) and Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita), Daniel’s second major nemesis Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) and many more. In the process, however, season 3 also left some Cobra Kai characters on the sidelines. Fans sorely missed Aisha Robinson (Nichole Brown) and Raymond a.k.a. ‘Stingray’ (Paul Walter Hauser). Aisha has been part of the series since the beginning. She was the first female student of Johnny’s (William Zabka) Cobra Kai Dojo. Stingray first appeared in season 2 and has been the oldest Cobra Kai student so far.

Aisha is dismissed within the season 3 premiere episode ‘Aftermath.’ There’s a curt explanation that her parents moved her to private school after the catastrophic fight at the end of season 2. That seems appropriate. Given the damage to the student body,...

Confessional Booth Psychological Thriller Film 'Confessional' Trailer
Vanessa Marano, Jake Short, Brandon Larracuente, Marcus Scribner, Lucas Adams, Paris Berelc, Annalisa Cochrane, Jess Gabor, and Mia Xitlali in Confessional (2019)
"Is there something you want to confess?" Rlje Films has debuted a full trailer for an indie psychological thriller titled Confessional, made by filmmaker Brad T. Gottfred (Orgies and the Meaning of Life). This originally premiered at the Chattanooga Film Festival last year, and is already streaming on Shudder if you want to catch it now. After two seemingly unconnected deaths at a college on the same night, seven students receive invitations to a confessional booth hidden on campus. Uh oh... Their confessions slowly unveil the truth behind the deaths and the mysterious person who brought all of them to the booth. Confessional stars Marcus Scribner, Vanessa Marano, Lucas Adams, Jess Gabor, Brandon Larracuente, Jake Short, Annalisa Cochrane, Paris Berelc, and Mia Xitali. This is a cool concept, but it's not easy to pull this off as a film. From the looks of it, this will certainly by suspenseful. I...
