Producers Rhys Frake-Waterfield and Scott Jeffrey are building a cinematic universe, called the Twisted Childhood Universe, out of horror movies based on public domain family friendly stories – including Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, that film’s sequels, Pinocchio Unstrung, and Bambi: The Reckoning, which is inspired by Felix Salten’s 1923 novel Bambi, a Life in the Woods. The Bambi horror movie will be reaching theatres on July 25th, courtesy of Seismic Releasing – and with that date right around the corner, a new trailer for the film has dropped online. Disney's Iconic Minnie Mouse Gets a Dark Transformation in Latest Public Domain Slasher
Image
The twisted horror trend of beloved childhood characters turning into murderous figures carries on. Minnie Mouse is the latest Disney icon to trade in spreading cheer for a thirst for blood, thanks to copyright law. She joins the likes of Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet, Peter Pan, Bambi, and others in a growing public-domain horror genre. Per Deadline, filming on the low-budget slasher Minnie's Midnight Massacre has wrapped.

Written and directed by Brett Bentman (90 Feet From Home), this feature sees Minnie embarking on a "killing spree when seeking revenge against the childhood bullies who tortured her as a teenager." Hannah Huston (Stiletto) stars in the feature, and a first-look image reveals someone (who may or may not be Huston) donning a Minnie mask, complete with a blood-splattered white tulle skirt, and clutching a knife. Check it out below.

ITN Productions

Minnie Mouse entered the public domain on January 1, 2024, after making her debut in 1928's animated Steamboat Willie.

Winnie the Pooh's Twisted Childhood Universe Grows With Minnie Horror Movie
Image
In 2023, Rhys Frake-Waterfield wrote, directed, and produced Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey. The slasher horror took one of the most famous childhood characters and turned it into a vicious killer.

After its immense success, a sequel followed one year later, and it later turned into a franchise. The Twisted Childhood Universe film series is expected to feature many beloved characters as terrifying, blood-thirsty killers, and now a new favorite has received their turn: Minnie. PerDeadline, Steamboat Willie's mate, Minnie, will be the new star of a low-budget horror movie, Minnie's Midnight Massacre.

Minnie's Midnight Massacre has already received an exciting update, as filming has already wrapped last week. Per the description, Minnie goes on a killing spree when trying to get revenge against the childhood bullies who tortured her as a teenager. The upcoming slasher also received a first look at the character, which shows Minnie with a mask on,...

Murder Comes to the Hundred Acre Wood in ‘Piglet’
Image
The public domain continues to provide fertile ground for horror reinterpretations of beloved children’s characters. Following in the footsteps of Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey and its expanding cinematic universe, a new low-budget slasher simply titled Piglet arrives this week with a digital release on June 2. Distributed in the UK by The Move Partnership, the film will be available to rent or buy via Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Sky Store, Google and YouTube.

Directed by Andrea M. Catinella and written by Harry Boxley, Piglet reimagines A.A. Milne’s anxious, soft-spoken woodland companion as a hulking killer. Alexander Butler plays the human-pig hybrid antagonist, whose appearance evokes the grotesque design style popularised in the so-called Twisted Childhood Universe, though this film is not officially connected to Rhys Frake-Waterfield and Scott Chambers’ franchise.

The story centres on a group of young women celebrating a 21st birthday in an isolated cabin deep in the woods.

’Bambi: The Reckoning’ Trailer Teases a Bloody Rampage Of Revenge
Image
Exploitation is one thing, but the Poohniverse has taken the concept in a whole new direction. The horror genre continues to expand thanks to the bloody and oftentimes hilarious antics of what is also known as The Twisted Childhood Universe, and the filmmaker behind Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, Rhys Frake-Waterfield, is at it again. Yes, Frake-Waterfield serves as writer and producer on director Dan Allen’s upcoming Bambi: The Reckoning, and fans can check out the brand-new official trailer below. The brief synopsis for the film reads as follows:

"A mutated deer terrorizes a family in the forest while a group of mercenary hunters are sent out to hunt the bloodthirsty creature."

Unlike the wholesome way Disney took the character that originally appeared in the pages of author Felix Salten’s coming-of-age story, Bambi, a Life in the Woods (1923), Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios have concocted more of...

‘Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare’ Blu-ray Review
Image
Stars: Martin Portlock, Megan Placito, Peter DeSouza-Feighoney, Kit Green, Kelly Rian Sanson, Chrissie Wunna, Nicola Wright | Written by Scott Chambers, Rhys Frake-Waterfield | Directed by Scott Chambers

The most recent entry in the so-called Poohniverse, and the first one not to feature Pooh, Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, has arrived. With Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey and its sequel both being steaming piles of, well, poo, I was going to skip this. But surprisingly, I started hearing quite a few positive things about it.

While most of the films that director Scott Chambers, aka Scott Jeffrey has been involved with are borderline unwatchable fare like Dragon Fury, he does have the occasional entertaining effort like The Gardener to his credit, so it wasn’t entirely beyond the realm of possibility that Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare would actually be decent. Hoping for the best, I decided to give it a chance.

Sigourney Weaver's Underrated Snow White Movie Is A Twisted Gothic Horror Gem
Image
"Snow White" is a tale with plenty of gothic horror elements, even in its most Disneyfied form. As such, it's no surprise that the story has been reimagined into a horror movie on occasion. Granted, this is the type of thing that evokes images of Rhys Frake-Waterfield's 2023 feature "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey" and the ever-expanding Twisted Childhood Universe it has spawned ... and indeed, Snow White's horror history includes films like the less than exemplary 2012 teen camp slasher, "Snow White: A Deadly Summer."

However, the subject matter has also spawned a truly fascinating gothic horror film starring none other than Sigourney Weaver. 1997's "Snow White: A Tale of Terror" removes all the frills and cutesy aspects of the story, focusing instead on the lean, mean horror at its heart. As it turns out, adopting a comparatively realistic approach to a tale that features a murderous stepmother with supernatural...

Bambi: The Reckoning - Disney's Doe-Eyed Deer Is Out For Blood In Gruesome New Trailer
Image
Oh, deer.

Following the Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey movies and Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare, ITN Studios and Premiere Entertainment have released the first full trailer for the next chapter in the Twisted Childhood Universe, or "Poohniverse," Bambi: The Reckoning.

As we're sure you've already surmised, the low-budget horror parody follows a now grown-up Bambi as he seeks revenge on the hunter who killed his mother... and anyone else he happens to cross hooves with.

Of course, Bambi is far from the same defenceless fawn he was in the animated Disney classic, as he has now mutated into a gigantic, bloodthirsty monster (for some reason).

The brief synopsis reads: "Xana (McKee) and her son Benji (Mulheron) find themselves in a car wreck and soon hunted down by the vicious killing machine, Bambi. Bambi will destroy anyone in its path."

Check out the new trailer below along with a poster, and let...

Bambi horror movie gets bloody trailer as the feral deer goes on a rampage
Craig David Dowsett in Winnie l'ourson : Du Sang et du miel (2023)
The adorable fawn from Disney's canon is no more. Now he's transformed into a mutated and monstrous beast on a roaring rampage of revenge.

In the latest movie from the minds behind Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, Bambi has become a terrifyingly feral creature with no problem brutally killing people in part of his quest for vengeance after his mother is killed. Variety shared the first trailer for Bambi: The Reckoning on Wednesday. You can watch the video embedded above.

The story of Bambi didn't actually originate in the 1942 Disney film, instead coming from the Austrian novel Bambi, a Life in the Woods by Felix Salten, which is in the public domain. Bambi: The Reckoning is one of many recently released public domain horror titles. It is also part of the Twisted Childhood Universe (Tcu) created by Rhys Frake-Waterfield and Scott Chambers.

The Tcu started with Blood and Honey, its sequel,...

A Bloodthirsty Bambi Goes on a Killing Spree in New Horror Movie Trailer: Watch
Image
Bambi: The Reckoning, the latest entry in the Poohniverse horror movie series, has received its first trailer, and you’ll never think of the children’s story the same way again. Watch the clip below ahead of the film’s release in theaters this summer.

As seen in the trailer, a grief-stricken Bambi — who has mutated to have a mouth full of sharp teeth — goes on the prowl after the death of his mother. While on the hunt, the deer goes after some unlucky folks in the woods and vacationing countryside. Using his antlers, Bambi decapitates his prey before tearing into their flesh.

“After a mother and son get in a car wreck, they soon become hunted by Bambi, a mutated grief-stricken deer on a deadly rampage seeking revenge for the death of his mother,” reads the official logline.

Bambi Goes Berzerk in Horror Parody Trailer From Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey Team
Image
The first trailer for the next installment in the Poohniverse, officially known as The Twisted Childhood Universe (Tcu), has been released. After Winnie-the-Pooh and Peter Pan, Bambi is the next beloved children's character to get the horror parody treatment from the team behind Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey.

Variety debuted the official trailer for Bambi: The Reckoning, as well as the synopsis for the horror movie, which reads as follows: "In this very twisted take on the Bambi story, our deer — now not simply grief-stricken over the death of his mother but also mutated, effing enormous and sporting an array of sharp, terrifying teeth — embarks on a deadly rampage through the woods seeking revenge. He throws cars into the air with his giant antlers, charges into otherwise lovely-looking country houses and chases after holidaying families in caravans. There’s a decapitation, several maulings and plenty of blood. In short, this it...

[Trailer]’Bambi: The Reckoning’: Childhood Icon Turns Killer in Twisted Horror Reboot
Image
Bambi is back—but not in the way you remember. The beloved deer from Disney’s classic tale has taken a terrifying turn in Bambi: The Reckoning, a new horror movie from the creators of Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey.

The first trailer for the film has arrived, and it shows a much darker version of Bambi. No longer just a grieving fawn, he has transformed into a massive, mutated creature with sharp teeth and an uncontrollable thirst for revenge. As he rampages through the woods, Bambi throws cars, crashes into homes, and hunts down innocent families.

The film promises plenty of blood, violent attacks, and shocking moments—making it completely unsuitable for children.

Directed by Dan Allen, Bambi: The Reckoning features a cast that includes Roxanne Mckee (Game of Thrones), Tom Mulheron, Nicola Wright (Sexy Beast), Samira Mighty, and Alex Cooke. It is produced by Scott Chambers and Rhys-Frake Waterfield of Jagged Edge Productions,...

‘Bambi: The Reckoning’ Trailer: Cinema’s Beloved Deer Turns Feral, Goes on Killing Spree in Latest IP Assault from ‘Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey’ Creators (Exclusive)
Image
Disney’s beloved little deer is all grown up — and has gone absolutely feral.

That’s the immediate takeaway from the first trailer of “Bambi: The Reckoning,” the latest assault on both the senses and yet more cherished children’s IP from the creators of micro-budget smash hit slasher “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey.”

In this very twisted take on the Bambi story, our deer — now not simply grief-stricken over the death of his mother but also mutated, effing enormous and sporting an array of sharp, terrifying teeth — embarks on a deadly rampage through the woods seeking revenge. He throws cars into the air with his giant antlers, charges into otherwise lovely-looking country houses and chases after holidaying families in caravans. There’s a decapitation, several maulings and plenty of blood. In short, this it to be kept as far away from children as humanly possible.

'Popeye's Revenge' Review: No Brains or Brawn
Image
Spinach is scarce in Popeye's Revenge. So is a cohesive plot and any form of shrewd execution. But the kills are brutal, the misogyny is ugly, and the plot is lost somewhere in the current vendetta to butcher some of history’s finest fairy tales and comic book characters. It began with director Rhys Frake-Waterfield, who is at the helm of the Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey films. Here, it's evident that screenwriter Harry Boxley was using the films he previously penned as horror foreplay. Popeye’s Revenge is a bloody mess, both figuratively and literally.

The executive producers of the Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey movies fuel this endeavor, which attempts to offer a brand-new and horrifying take on the classic character created by E.C. Seger nearly 100 years ago. Directed by William Stead (Children of the Night), the story finds a gaggle of teens trying to survive the "legend...

Is 'Heart Eyes' Streaming? Where To Watch the Valentine's Day Slasher Everyone's Whispering About
Image
The slasher subgenre of horror has seen a rather prominent resurgence in recent years. Whether it be the revivals of iconic series such as Halloween or Scream, or the introduction of new IPs such as Eli Roth's Thanksgiving, Damien Leone's ultra-gory Terrifier series, or even smaller indie projects like Rhys Frake-Waterfield's 'Poohniverse' franchise, slashers have become quite popular again after largely remaining dormant for some time. The newest slasher flick to enter the fray is Heart Eyes from Screen Gems, a film capitalizing on the Valentine's Day holiday in a similar manner as the aforementioned Thanksgiving did with its titular holiday.

2 Years Later, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey Producer Defends Controversial Horror Spoof With 3% Rt Score
Image
Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare and Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey producer Scott Jeffrey has fired back at critics of the latter film two years after its release. Written and directed by Jeffrey's co-producer Rhys Frake-Waterfield, the first installment in The Twisted Childhood Universe debuted in February 2023 to very negative critical responses, with many labeling the movie among the worst ever made.

In an interview with SFX magazine via GamesRadar, Jeffrey fiercely defended Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, recounting the hard work that went into making it. The producer believes that some people who claim not to like the horror parody did not give it a chance, and many of those who did liked what they saw, gaining the franchise new fans. "We had to really grow a thick skin, especially on Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood And Honey. People were saying we were lazy on all this," he said. "People might not like it,...

How 'Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare' Sets Up the Future of the Poohniverse
Image
Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh existing in the same cinematic universe might seem strange enough, but how about both of them going on murderous rampages? Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare, directed and written by Scott Chambers, is the third installment in Jagged Edge Productions'"Twisted Childhood Universe" (Tcu). Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare was preceded by Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (2023) and Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey II (2024), which, if you could not discern from the titles, see the beloved children's character Winnie the Pooh (originally from the books by A.A. Milne and E. H Shephard) turn violent.

The Tcu, or "Poohniverse" as it is also called, is all the brain-child of British filmmaker Rhys Frake-Waterfield. When Winnie the Pooh (which was originally published in 1926) entered the public domain in 2022, the material became fair game for a horror spin. Now, the Razzie-winning series shows no signs of stopping and...

The Twisted Childhood Universe is only continuing to grow. Following on the heels of Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey and its sequel, the boy who won’t grow up is now the latest victim in an ongoing quest to traumatize everyone’s beloved childhood memories. This week sees the limited run of Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, which may be the darkest installment in the Tcu to date and arguably the goriest.

While the Blood and Honey films openly embraced the aesthetic of ‘80s slashers like Friday the 13th, Neverland Nightmare draws clear inspiration from modern hits like The Black Phone, It, and the grimy, unpleasant aesthetic of Eli Roth’s body of work. As such, in a tonal departure for the franchise,...

We had heard that director Rhys Frake-Waterfield and producer Scott Jeffrey Chambers were planning to create a cinematic universe with the Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey films and other horror movies inspired by children’s stories, like Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, Bambi: The Reckoning, and Pinocchio Unstrung. Then, Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios officially announced that this cinematic universe, which is being referred to as The Twisted Childhood Universe, is building up to the crossover movie Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, which will be released in 2025. Chambers has said that the Mad Hatter will be one of the “worst of the worst” in Poohniverse, and during an interview with Screen Rant he took a moment to talk about the Mad Hatter horror movie Alice the Mad, as well as the upcoming Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 3 – which is actually a Tigger solo movie!

‘Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare’ Review: Public Domain Horrorsploitation Develops Some Chops
Image
In a small way, the micro-budgeted U.K. indie “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey” more than pulled its weight in drawing audiences back to theaters two years ago. The bad-taste concept and trailer generated guilty-pleasure viral traction; then the Fathom Events theatrical window was so short, there was no chance for word-of-mouth to spoil the fun. Which was fortunate, as the film itself was an amateurish slog.

You have to give the filmmakers credit, though: They swallowed all criticism (including an impressive sweep of the Golden Raspberries), vowing to plow their considerable profits into making better movies …albeit in the same vein. Last year’s “Honey” sequel was reportedly a significant improvement. Now there’s “Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare,” a nasty piece of work — in the sense that it appeals to horror fans with a strong stomach not just for gore but truly unpleasant ideas.

You might hesitate to call a...

Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood And Honey 3: Confirmation & Everything We Know
Image
The controversial mascot horror series Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey isn't over yet, and there are already details about the upcoming Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 3. Debuting in 2023 with the eponymous first film, the conceit of the slasher horror franchise is that writer A.A. Milne's classic character, Winnie-the-Pooh, has been transformed into a murderous monster. This is only possible thanks to the character entering the public domain in the 2020s, which has allowed director Rhys Frake-Waterfield to put his own twisted spin on the beloved children's stories.

Made on a tiny budget and shipped out quickly to capitalize on the public domain horror craze, 2023's Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey was summarily lambasted by critics and garnered a sub-10% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite this critical infamy, it managed to become something of a sleeper box-office success, which spurred Jagged Edge Productions to quickly green-light a sequel with a slightly elevated budget.

'Neverland Nightmare' Director Details Escort Agency Setting of 'Poohniverse's 'Alice in Wonderland'
Image
Fans of the public domain plundering Poohniverse, or Twisted Childhood Universe, have been treated to some more details about “Phase 2” of the project, and in particular the version of Alice in Wonderland that will inhabit the corrupted and depraved world of killer bears and child-snatching residents of Neverland. For those who don’t want to go down the rabbit hole…and other dank places…turn away now.

The Twisted Childhood Universe seemed to begin life as a quick cashgrab around Winnie the Pooh entering the public domain in 2022. Now, three years on and we are on the cusp of another entry in the franchise that has turned into its own Marvel Cinematic Universe, with just a fraction of the budget and featuring a load of hideous interpretations of some much-loved characters from children’s literature.

While we already know that Pooh, Piglet, and Tigger are going to be joined by Bambi,...

Poohniverse Crossover Movie Monsters Assembled Gets Release Update From Franchise Producer & Director
Image
The Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble movie receives a release update from the franchise's producer and director. Upcoming installments include Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare, Bambi: The Reckoning, and Pinocchio: Unstrung – all culminating in the crossover Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble movie, which is slated for release in 2025.

During an exclusive interview with ScreenRant, the Tcu franchise producer and director Scott Chambers shared a release update for Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble. Chambers says they are still planning on shooting it this summer and releasing it around Halloween 2025. The Steamboat Willie ‘Screamboat’ Monster Looks Even More Ridiculous Than You Imagined
Image
A Steamboat Willie slasher flick was always going to have a pretty hefty dose of goofiness (though Goofy himself is not in the public domain until 2028), but this “Screamboat” monster reveal is nuts.

“Screamboat” had already unveiled a teaser trailer (as first shared by IndieWire in August 2024), but the Mickey Mouse precursor character was not depicted in it. That may have been for the best, as “Screamboat” director Steven Lamorte’s monster looks like, well, what you see above.

David Howard Thornton (Art the Clown in the “Terrifier” trilogy) plays Steamboat Willie in the film from DeskPop Entertainment and distributor Iconic Events Releasing. Willie was designed by Quantum Creation FX as both a puppet and a costume — it’s as practical as the boat the film shot on.

“‘Screamboat’ follows a group of New Yorkers on a late-night ferry ride that turns deadly when a mischievous mouse begins a rampage,...

Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios are building The Twisted Childhood Universe, which will consist of horror movies inspired by children’s stories. Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey and Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 got the universe started, paving the way for Bambi: The Reckoning, Pinocchio: Unstrung, and Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare (not to mention Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 3), building up to the crossover movie Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble. Iconic Events Releasing will be bringing Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare to theatres for three days only, from January 13th through the 15th – and in anticipation of that release, Entertainment Weekly has unveiled a batch of images that feature Kit Green as Tinkerbell. 'Poohniverse' Director Was Surprised by "Hate Messages" & Backlash
Image
Upon its debut in 2023, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey faced a lot of backlash from fans and critics who blasted the film as being nothing more than a quick cash-grab using the public domain to turn our beloved childhood characters into slasher villains. When Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 came around in 2024, the tone changed a little as people began to appreciate what Rhys Frake-Waterfield, Matt Leslie, Scott Chambers, and the entire crew at Jagged Edge Productions were attempting to accomplish. However, it was that initial reception that Chambers says caught everyone off guard.

MovieWeb caught up with him to discuss the latest film in The Twisted Childhood Universe (or Poohniverse), Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, which sees Chambers behind the camera as director instead of in front of it like he was in Blood and Honey 2 as Christopher Robin. He served as a producer on the first movie, which at...

'Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood & Honey 2' Director "Threw Up" During Filming
Image
Practical effects can be a wonderful addition to horror films when done right, as we saw in such 2024 hits as Terrifier 3 and Alien: Romulus. There's just something about having that gore right in front of you instead of it being generated by a computer that makes the moment feel all the more real. The results can oftentimes be so realistic that they make the filmmakers and actors sick to their stomach, as was the case in Damien Leone's film, and in another 2024 gem: Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2.

MovieWeb recently caught up with Scott Chambers (seen below) to talk about his directorial debut in the Poohniverse with Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare. Along the way, the subject of Blood and Honey 2 came up, and it was then he revealed that creator Rhys Frake-Waterfield was so disgusted by one sequence in particular in the sequel that it made him lose his lunch.

'Poohniverse' Director Teases Which Movie Will "Destroy" Our Childhoods
Image
If you thought the two Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey movies ruined your childhood, wait until you see what's next, as director Scott Chambers says you haven't seen anything yet. Released in 2023, Blood and Honey took some beloved characters from our youth, such as Pooh and Piglet, and turned them into slasher villains wreaking havoc in the Hundred Acre Wood. The carnage continued in Blood and Honey 2, which added Tigger and Owl to the mix for an even bigger bloodbath in the town of Ashdown.

Speaking with MovieWeb to promote the upcoming release of the third film in the franchise, Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare, director Scott Chambers revealed to us that when it comes to ruining childhoods, the best is yet to come. As if turning Peter Pan into a villainous monster wasn't enough, we asked him what upcoming film was going to give people pause, and he didn't hesitate to respond.

Image
The "Twisted Childhood Universe" (also known as the "Poohniverse"), is undoubtedly charting a course for a vast expansion in 2025. Now, an extended universe based on horror versions of classic children's characters is expanding with Bambi: The Reckoning and Pinocchio: Unstrung, but not before the franchise's first deviation from the Blood and Honey films — Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare.

‘Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble’ Reveals Which Disney’s Darkest Characters Will Serve as The Villains
Image
The Twisted Childhood Universe (Tcu), or Poohniverse, is a British horror movie series created by Rhys Frake-Waterfield. It reimagines children’s characters as scary over-the-top villains.

The first movie, ‘Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey’, got bad reviews from critics and mixed reactions from fans but still made money. People criticized its script, acting, filming, and lack of humor, and it won five Razzie Awards but that single movie still managed to kickstart a franchise and Frake-Waterfield has promised to improve the quality of future films.

Now the franchise is ready for its big event, ‘Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble,’ the most ambitious crossover you will ever see, at least in this context.

The movie will feature evil versions of Winnie-the-Pooh, Peter Pan, and other childhood characters in a chilling twist on nostalgia. While most details are still secret, some villains will be more dangerous than others, and surprising Disney icons will join the story.

Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare Review: The Blood & Honey Universe Is At Its Best When It Doesn't Play Things So Straightfaced
Image
The Twisted Childhood Universe has been one of the most fascinating introductions to the horror genre in recent years, and Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare is its latest installment. Created by Rhys Frake-Waterfield, the franchise is composed of interconnected stories bringing horror-driven takes on iconic children's characters that are available in the public domain. The franchise began with the critically maligned Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey and continued with its generally better-received sequel, while six other movies are in various states of development and production.

Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare is a fantasy-horror film from the team at Jagged Edge Productions, the same group behind other horror parody films such as Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. The film is a terrifying retelling of the original tale penned by J.M. Barrie in 1911.

Image
The Twisted Childhood Universe continues to expand, and as it continues to add more children’s characters with a horror twist to bring them all together in a crossover event, a new character has been teased to join – and thanks to that, a wild theory about them can come true but with a key twist. The 2023 horror movie Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey boosted a trend in horror of making horror versions of children’s characters and stories. Despite being a critical failure, Blood and Honey made way for a sequel and started a shared universe called Twisted Childhood Universe.

The point of the Twisted Childhood Universe is to bring more horror versions of children’s characters, with each movie leading up to a crossover event titled Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble. So far, the characters confirmed to appear in Poohniverse are Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends, Bambi, Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, Hook, Pinocchio,...

Ryan Reynolds Once Pitched a 'Bambi' and Deadpool Crossover Movie to Disney and Marvel
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine proved that Ryan Reynolds and Disney can make magic together, but it seems that not all of his ideas are welcome. While appearing on Variety’s Actors on Actors with Andrew Garfield, Reynolds revealed that he suggested making a movie that really didn’t float the boat at the House of Mouse.

Before he was able to settle on the right project to bring Deadpool into the Disney family, it seems that Reynolds had some other ideas…including an unexpected crossover with a sweet little deer. The conversation went a little like this:

Reynolds: They were incredible partners. It was meant to be, because the first pitch I had for Marvel and Kevin Feige five years ago was a Deadpool-Wolverine movie in the “Rashomon” style, which is his perspective, then mine, then an objective. And they said no. So then I pitched the most idiotic movies.
