Matteo Pilati
Matteo Pilati (Bologna, 1984) is an Italian film director, screenwriter and producer.

Born in Bologna and raised in San Pietro in Casale (BO), he studied at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, where he earned a diploma in "Writing and Producing for Television" in 2010.

From 2010 to 2019, he worked for television broadcasters, contributing to the production of highly successful entertainment programs, such as the first seasons of the Italian versions of "Kitchen Nightmares", "Four Weddings" and "Farmer Wants A Wife" (for Fox Networks Group Italy). In 2017 he produced, for Viacom International Media Networks Italy, "The Italian Jobs: Paramount Pictures and Italy", directed by Marco Spagnoli, which was nominated in the Best Documentary category at the David di Donatello and Nastri d'Argento Awards in 2018.

When his television experience ended, in 2019 he founded the company Rufus Film for the purpose of self-producing the romantic comedy feature "Mascarpone" ("Maschile Singolare"), which he wrote and directed, marking his film debut. Premiered at the Lovers Film Festival in Turin, Italy, and released on Prime Video Italy from June 4th, 2021, the film was well received by audiences and critics in its home country, before being released in international cinemas thanks to Vision Distribution.

On June 1st, 2023, his second film, "The Hottest Summer" ("L'estate più calda"), was announced for worldwide release on Prime Video on July 6th, 2023. The cast includes Gianmarco Saurino, Stefania Sandrelli, Nino Frassica and newcomers Nicole Damiani and Alice Angelica; Michela Giraud and Giuseppe Giofrè play small roles. The film, shot in the Ragusa area between August and October 2022, is a romantic comedy produced by Amazon Studios, Notorious Pictures and Rufus Film.
