Erykah Badu hasn’t released a new album since 2010’s New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh), but that could all change soon. In a recent Billboard interview, the neo soul pioneer revealed she is working on her first studio album in 15 years.

Adding to the intrigue, it’s being solely produced by The Alchemist, better known for working with hip-hop artists like Freddie Gibbs, Earl Sweatshirt, and Boldy James.

According to journalist Damien Scott, the currently untitled project is a primary focus in Badu’s life. “The album has been taking up most of her time; she says she can’t wait until she’s done,” Scott wrote.

Elsewhere in the interview, Badu explained why it’s been so long between albums. “I tour eight months out of the year for the past 25 years,” she said. “That’s what I do. I am a performance artist. I am not a recording artist.

New cast members have been revealed for the upcoming horror thriller Night Patrol. Among them is Cm Punk, one of WWE's biggest stars who also happens to be experienced as a horror genre actor.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Night Patrol will feature Punk as part of the cast alongside horror genre fan favorite Justin Long. The album reunites the two artists after nearly a decade of mutual behind-the-scenes support that resulted in three Kaytranada-produced tracks on Aminé’s 2015 mixtape, Calling Brio. The 11-track effort includes features from Pharrell Williams, Freddie Gibbs, Snoop Dogg, and Big Sean.

Teddy Ray, a Los Angeles born-and-bred comedian, has died. He was 32 years old.

Ray’s death was confirmed by Comedy Central on Friday evening.

It first premiered in the 2021 Cannes Film Festival sidebar selection known as Acid, and it also played at the Deauville Film Festival and American Film Festival in Poland last year. Real-life rapper Freddie Gibbs stars as a famous rapper named Money Merc in the film. Disillusioned with the music industry and the pressures of being a celebrity, he leaves the city and his career behind to find himself in a small-town farming community in the Berkshires. This sounds great! The cast includes Bob Tarasuk, Jamie Neumann, David Krumholtz, and Sharon Washington. This is exactly the kind of premise for a film that I enjoy, and glad this isn't some dumb comedy.

The return of “Yo! MTV Raps” now has a premiere date.

The reimagined global iteration of the MTV hip-hop series will premiere on Paramount+ on Tuesday, May 24, the streamer announced Monday. In addition, Paramount+ released the official trailer, key art and lineup of featured guests.

Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, “Yo! MTV Raps” is a comprehensive deep dive into the current state of hip hop. “Yo! MTV Raps” was created by Peter Dougherty and Ted Demme, and launched in 1988 — originally hosted by Fab 5 Freddy, and later by Doctor Dre and Ed Lover. The series ran until 1995.

The new iteration of the show will feature hosted segments from Conceited and DJ Diamond Kuts, live performances, cyphers and lifestyle content. Featured guests include Freddie Gibbs on May 24, Latto on May 31, Saba on June 7, Jid on June 14, Shenseea on June 21, Tee Grizzley on June 28, Idk on July 5 and Trina on July 12.

The host of HBO’s Real Time is launching Club Random, a series that will see him host hourlong, one-on-one interviews with a range of eclectic guests, where they talk about anything and everything, except politics. The series will launch March 21 with episodes every Monday.

Maher is recording the show at his home in his bar, which is known as Club Random.

While Real Time with Bill Maher is released as a weekly podcast, it is just a simulcast of Maher’s Friday night talk show. This marks Maher’s first move proper into the audio space.

The podcast will see him reunited with Politically Incorrect writer Chris Case and former Politically Incorrect producer Chuck Labella, both of whom will exec produce alongside Maher.
